Tibby's got me Tubbys this week. Wayyy full. PeptoMax-full. After greeting the sweet hostesses, I sat down at the bar and felt like I was in the right place right away. Taps are limited but effective. The pint glasses are those big goblets, like in their logo.. and they're frozen.. and they have Abita Amber on tap. Very pleasant beer to sit on for an evening or a meal. I'm not a seafood guy and don't like mayo, which may seem a little contrary to sitting down in this place. Ordered the eggplant sticks, half an eggplant poboy (no mayo) and sweet fries with remoulade sauce. A full po-boy came out. Woops. Eggplant sticks were awesome. They come with a marinara-type sauce. Sweet fries were on point. The po-boy didn't quite bring the full flava.. but I did order it without mayo. Some remoulade and hotsauce in there sorted things just fine. Yeah, I know remoulade tends to have mayo. My brother insisted I try the bread pudding but I'll need to defer that little activity after eating about 12 pounds of food (thats like a fat baby's worth). Sounds like it justifies a trip by itself. Service was nice.. the vibe of the place, for me, was fantastic.. the food was high 3ish but I'm looking forward to moving around the menu a little more. Maybe something more telltale New Orleans.

As everyone has commented, the food is delicious and the specialty drinks are a must try! Sure, it's a bit crowded and loud, but that's part of the experience and I've always had great service. I could sit in this restaurant for hours just looking at all the art work - even the ceiling is decorated!

We're not on bourbon street but this is one heck of an amazing "Nawlins" style restaurant! From its price to amazing culinary food, this is definitely a place to go. The catfish poboy, sweet potato fries, grits, and beignets are extremely well done and hold incredible taste. Everything ive had has been cooked meticulously and has that new orleans spice and heat to it. Im going back soon to try their fried oyster poboy... my mouth is already watering!

This place has a buzz about it so we decided to go and see what it was all about. The wife had been there once and said it was very, very good so, what the heck! We go for a Saturday night dinner and the menu is vaired, something for everyone. Good variety of beers and apptizers, entrees, etc. We got the fried pickles, and two entrees, both of which were excellent. The beers apparently change frequently, and the choices we made were both good. Desserts are limited but in the vein of Louisiana cuisine, e.g., bread pudding, etc. Get there early. When we left the wait appeared to be in excess on one hour! I like this place, but I won't wait an hour for any restaurant.

Wow, the best Louisiana cuisine that I have had outside of New Orleans! Wonderful fried oyster po-boy and the andouille-cheese grits are out of this world. Very authentic and tasty! You need to go here, now!

Not worth the 45 minute wait. Gumbo was too salty and barely any seafood.

This is our first time to Tibby's, brought to you by the same folks that give us the fresh Tex-Mex Tijuana Flats chain. We were quite impressed with the restaurant, receiving both excellent service and delicious food in a fun atmosphere. We were seated immediately during lunch on Saturday, right before the Kid Dutch ensemble began to play. The seating was a little close, but for the sake of adding tables to this small space, it was well worth the sacrifice to allow more people inside. There is seating outside; however, you truly lose the ambiance that awaits inside. On to the food! We enjoyed three appetizers - monstrously thick and amazingly seasoned onion rings, vinegary and salty fried pickles, and the fried pepper jack cheese plank served on a bed of their creole sauce. The onion rings were amazing - although thick, they were well seasoned and fried crisp. The fried pickles were my favorite - fried crisp as well, but still retaining the original salty/vinegary taste I love in dill pickles. Both of these were served with the house remoulade sauce, a great accompaniment to these dishes. The cheese plank was also equally delicious, reaching the balance of well fried on the outside and lush and melty cheese on the inside. The creole sauce added a great texture, and was a great addition to soak up and mix with the melted cheese and fried crust. I wasn't particularly drawn to the eggplant, so I asked if I could have a Potato Po-Boy for my meal. Not only were they accommodating in this request, but asked if there was any way to improve the sandwich by adding any additional toppings other than the normal Po-Boy toppings (such as remoulade, cheese, or even gravy). I opted to stay with the normal toppings - lettuce, tomato, pickles, and Blue Plate mayonnaise - and boy was I happy! My Potato Po-Boy came out on wonderfully crunchy french bread, with lashings of mayo, a nice cover of lettuce, thick tomatoes, pickles (same from the fried pickles), and hot fresh fries. The first bite into the sandwich was an amazing experience - with the crisp hot fries mingling with the mayo, fresh lettuce, juicy tomato, and the crunchy bread - it was like going home. Being from New Orleans, it brought me back to Potato Po-Boys I had as a kid. One of my dining companions had the Shrimp and Grits - declared delicious and flavorful, with just the right amount of heat and saltiness. My husband had the 12 napkin roast beef Po-Boy, and declared it a success. He also ordered a side of the potato salad, that he noted could use a bit more heat and seasoning - which was provided by the house cayenne/horseradish sauce on the table. It could have used some more livening up somehow. We shared a single order of beignets for dessert, which come as an order of three. The beignets were hot and crispy on the outside, and flaky and moist on the inside. They were cooked just right, and it seemed like it had never-ending layers of flaky goodness on the inside. The powdered sugar was generous, and allowed for us to dip the beignets into it to increase the sweetness as needed. The Kid Dutch ensemble provided great entertainment, playing at a great volume to enjoy and also allow us to communicate to each other at the table. They, without a doubt, added to the great convivial atmosphere at Tibby's, and made this a 5+ star experience. We will be returning when they play on Saturdays (from Noon-4pm).

Been to the French Quarter numerous times on business and this place beats it without question (high tourism breeds high prices and low portions). We started with the recommended BBQ shrimp appetizer, which is really a bunch of peel and eat shrimp in a wonderful savory and spicy broth served with french bread for dipping. A must have. We moved on to a cup of Jambalaya and gumbo and two huge goblets of Abita Amber along with an order of oysters remoulade. All good. Next the kitchen split our orders of crawfish étouffée and shrimp and andouille cheddar grits. This dish is a must order. The cheddar grits with a wine based gravy with the sausage and shrimp unbelievable. While difficult we moved into the outstanding bread pudding and some beignets. The service was exceptional from several staff who take pride in their effort to service guests and advise on various dishes.

Had a wonderful meal. The food and service were excellent. Loved the Maw's fries, shrimp and grit, drinks and desserts. Well worth the visit and we will be back for sure.

Love this place. Absolutely huge amount of extremely well prepared food. Little noisy but it's great. Authentic and excellent food. The poboy of any kind is awesome.

This year I was right on-time for Fat Tuesday as the New Orleans restaurant, Tibby's, opened up recently. I love that the owners are UCF grads and that its locally owned and operated. These are the same guys as Tijuana Flats and this time that have gone with a Bourbon Street twist. I went straight in for the kill and ordered dessert even though the menu and bar looked super inviting. The natural options for New Orleans dessert are Bread Pudding and Beignets. I went with the later, as I felt reminiscent of a New Orleans trip I took years ago. Fried dough with powdered sugar. Something that sounds so simple yet, when done well, so delicious. I had the small serving of three of them for a measly few bucks. They surely ended my night with a smile. I can definitely see myself going back for more, even sampling a few other things as well. I know a few out-of-towners who would certainly appreciate this spot. Don't be fooled if it looks dark from the road, it is a fun lively place to satisfy your belly.

Had the Shrimp Po'boy, "Tibby's Style." 'Twas good, although I would recommend having it regular as the bread can get soggy from the honey mustard-y / thousand island-y remoulade. Big beers. Nice atmosphere. Pleasantly surprised. NOTE: I would not recommend ordering the potato salad. It sounds way more interesting than it tastes / looks. I hear the shrimp & grits are the way to go. I also hear the beignets are a wreck of nature. They apparently have a good happy hour and brunch. Needless to say, I'll be back.

I went on a date to Tibbys New Orleans Kitchen on Friday night and I suggest that you call first if you plan on doing the same. The crowd was a clear indication of the service, the food and the atmosphere. During the wait the staff was very cordial and set us up with two hurricanes to drink, which quickly make you forget your waiting. I had the crawfish étouffée and my date had the shrimp primavera. His dish was flavorful and spicy but not quite as impressive as mine. The étouffée was a blend of authentic creole flavors mirroring pricier dishes Ive had in New Orleans. The beignets were warm and doughy, I can imagine they would be good with some after dinner coffee but I was finishing my second hurricane by the time it came out and was in no mood for nonalcoholic beverages. I will go again for lunch to try a poboy and lighter fare on the menu soon.

The food was great! I loved the beignets and catfish. The vibe and service was great in the restaurant but it was a little cramped. That was really the only negative. Even on a busy night the wait time wasn't long to get seated.

D-darn-delicious!!! We used to vacation in New Orleans every year for eight years before living there for two years. This food is as good as some of the favorite places in NOLA. The prices are very similar to the places in NOLA too (maybe a little higher on the po-boys but that's because some of the best po-boys in New Orleans are at a well known local chain gas station). I can't wait to try the 12 napkin roast beef po-boy. Yummy! Yummy! Yummy! I cannot wait to go back.

This place makes me feel like Im back home. The vibe at Tibby's is about as real New Orleans as you could expect to find outside of Louisiana. During Saints and LSU games, theres few other places in Florida youd rather be. Ive had their crawfish etouffee, catfish poboy and gumbo, and they were all pretty good, not mind blowing but pretty good. They make some dang good beignets and those alone are worth the drive from wherever you live. I mean where else you gonna find beignets, are you kidding me?? :) My favorite part aside from the great atmosphere are the beverages, which basically go hand in hand, right? Ive had two different bartenders and they both have made a delicious hurricane. They also have Abita on tap. Abita, dude. Get goin.

Craving Cajun food I trusted my fellow yelpers and took the girlfriend to Tibby's. We were seated immediately at a table for two near the bar. Our drink orders were taken right away, and we were left alone with the menu. To start off our meal, we went the way of the fried pickle-- a favorite of the girlfriend-- Every fried pickle eaten with her has been tested against Po' Boy's in Tallahassee. These were as close as she has found. Heavenly. Took a pic for you all, check the gallery! Main course was a pair of po' boys--chicken and cajun sausage-- Both winners! Couldn't have asked for a better reasonably priced dinner out. The atmosphere was great, the after work crowd blending with the college kids, as well as the families and date-nighters. All in all, a fantastic time. Thanks Tibby's!

Came here for the first time to celebrate my moms birthday. I liked that it was started by the owners of Tijuana Flats so I had high hopes and was not let down! It's kind of cramped inside but the atmosphere is great! I had the shrimp and andouille grits and my husband had the 12 napkin special. We shared our dishes and they were both excellent! The andouille sausage was a little too spicy for me, but it's a Cajun restaurant so I can't get too upset!! This is a great place to come for a birthday- they bring you free beignets and a card signed by the whole staff! Definitely will be visiting again!!

First visit-a win! Kenneth greeted my wife and I and could not have been nicer. Perfect seater! Fun, happy, and sincerely pleasant. Nice bar table and Shane the bartender/waiter was a riot. Funky, funny, and very entertaining. Food was very good and more than fairly priced. Julian, a manager, was also very personable and fun. Five stars from me and I hate most of the restaurants in this town! Great job!!!

There are so many reasons to go to Tibby's - fun atmosphere, very friendly service, good drinks and beers, and excellent, authentic Cajun food if you like meat and seafood, which is in everything, including sides such as potato salad. Not a great place for a vegetarian, however - the only real option is a batter fried eggplant slice or a rather bland version of a spinach salad. Also they need to change their oil more often -- sometimes the fries (white and/or sweet potato) are brown and taste like old oil. Warning: impossible to have a healthy vegetarian meal here. If you eat meat you can have chicken or shrimp over a salad. The only veggie side dishes are french fried potatoes. Beignets are delicious for dessert.

The best po'boy I've had outside of LA...originally gave this place 5 stars. Unfortunately, had a few bad service experiences here so it's no longer a favorite of mine.

Been twice, and each time this place has been a standout. If you go, please be hungry. I know I can eat, and I get the half roast beef po boy and I get stuffed. That sandwich is definitely not healthy (I love getting it deep fried), but it is sooooo good! The roast beef with gravy is crazy good. I noticed some have said its slow or they had to wait - I have gone for a semi late lunch and have not had to wait or had any other timing issues. Tibby's doesn't get five stars because the gumbo is pretty much standard fare, good but not great like its sandwiches are.

Excellent all around! Awesome authentic New Orleans style food (cheese grits, andouille, po boys, red beans & rice). Abita beer goblets the size of your head. Friendly attentive servers and a hands on helpful manager. There isn't anything about this place that I don't like!

I loved it. The wife and I went in on a Sunday afternoon. The band was playing, the beer was cheap, the food was great. We had the BBQ shrimp to start and it was great. We then had a crawfish pie, jambalaya, and seafood gumbo. Be careful though, the seafood gumbo does have sausage in it, but other than that, it had really good flavor. I will definitely be going back!

As I sit here at Tibby's new orleans kitchen I am soooooo disappointed by the extremely slow service. We have one cold order of kids mac and cheese. Apparently we are not the only people upset with the poor service. If the food is good we would not know. We are leaving. So sad.

"If this was my last meal, I'd die a happy person." This is what I told our server and the manager who stopped by our table. We arrived there in the middle of dinner rush, the restaurant was packed, the friendly hostess took our information and told us that it'd be a 20-30 min wait and that we could wait at the bar. We ordered some hurricanes ($5 ea) and 15 minutes later, we had a table - Awesome! The ambience is cool, bright colors are everywhere, service is fast & efficient, food.... ahhhh the food...delicious & the portions are generous (you also get good value for your money). MUST TRY THE BEIGNETS!!!! TO DIE FOR!!!!! I cannot wait for my next trip to Orlando to dine here again! (Or maybe they can open one in Miami and save me the trip). I'm pasting the menu here for your viewing: tibbysneworleanskitchen.…

Tibby's is great. I'd suggest going on a weeknight because it can get crowded. The sausage grits are my favorite and the po' boys are awesome. If you get the half and half, it's just the right amount of food for the right price.

Is this place awesome not really but is it as close as you can get to New Orleans style food in Orlando, yes. The poyboy was pretty good the shrimp was fried perfectly. The prices on some of the dishes are high for the portion. Our favorite part was the beignets.

I have died and gone to heaven! Husband and I drove up for dinner after work. Kind of far, but definitely worth it! We started with the fried green tomatoes & crawfish appetizer, and that was a plate of fried deliciousness and remoulade.. SO good! We each tried a half po-boy for dinner, mine was shrimp, his was oysters. We were totally impressed with the po-boys.. they were so yummy, the bread was amazing. The coating on the fried shrimp and the fried oysters was flavorful and not oily at all. For sides, I had the grits with cheese and andouille sausage, which were so soft and fluffy and amazing.. almost like a souffle, they were so good! My husband had the potato salad, which, was he tends to be a conoisseur of. This potato salad, however, did not appeal to him: the olives were a welcome addition, but the bacon was too much with the olives. We rarely have dessert, but couldnt help ourselves: we ordered the bread pudding and the beignets. The bread pudding was delicious, with a rum butterscotch flavored caramel and raisins! Excellent! The beignets were light and fluffy and covered in bad bad powdered sugar.. but so so good! Tibby's was BUSY! We walked in and were surprised how busy it was, and it only got more crowded as we ate. The band was playin, the bartenders were pourin, the kitchen was cookin.. we had a BLAST! Definitely coming back here VERY SOON!

The location, service, atmosphere and presentation was great. I met 2 friends for lunch (they do NOT take reservations) and we had a great time. We all 3 ordered the shrimp and grits and were a bit disappointed with the lack of flavor; it seemed bland. We ordered the bread pudding to split and all 3 enjoyed. I will probably be back to enjoy the atmosphere and try something different off the menu, such as the Shrimp Creole.

After entering this place I immediately thought of this scene-- youtube.com/watch?v=gP8_… Holy cow what a loud colorful trip of a restaurant. It's like they just pulled a bunch of middle aged women out of mardi gras, stripped them of their beads for decor and let them throw up their fruity colored drinks all over the place. The service was a little confused, not knowing what beers they served and asking my friend if he wanted his change at the end of the meal when she picked up our checks, but I think the place is owned by Tijuana Flats so what can you expect? The food was pretty good. The portions looked small but were NOT. I think I put a few extra stretch marks on my stomach lining in this place. I got the low country boil which had corn, taters, shrimp, little onions and the andouille sausage that they put in everything. It would have been better if they had left the sausage whole instead of slicing it into disks but my intestines quickly turned this meal into soup anyway, so it doesn't matter. I must say that they have the best bloody mary ever! They put celery seed in it and it's garnished with a pickled green bean, olive, pickled okra and sausage slice! YUM! I probably won't come back unless it's for bloody marys. The food was ok, in flavors, but the whole vibe of the place really gave me the fear.

This was some of the tastiest and most authentic Cajun food I've eaten. The restaurant is decorated in the kind of colorful and festive theme one often sees in and around Nawlins. I had the Shrimp and Andouille Cheddar Grits and it was delicious. The bread pudding I had for desert was tasty but a bit on the dry side compared to bread pudding I've eaten around the French Quarter. The service was great! Our waiter was genuinely friendly and attentive. My wife and I were both very happy and can't wait to go back!

Tibby's has become one of my new favorite places to eat; the food is always great and the service is always friendly and fast. I would highly recommend the Blackened Chicken, Cheeseburger and the 12 napkin Po'Boys (although I only needed 5 napkins). The Brandy milk punch is also a great drink if your looking for something sweet with a kick.

We had been waiting months for this place to open. We both like New Orleans style cooking so came here for dinner. I must say...pretty darn good! I had the blackened chicken sandwich...and holy moly...it was SO spicy. I almost think that the lid of the seasoning fell off and my chicken was covered in hotness! but it was so good, I kept eating it. For my side I had sweet potato fries and a cup of their jambalaya which were both great. And best of all were the beignets!!! I so want to go back to Cafe Du Monde now...

I wanted to love this place, and I wanted to make it a regular place to dine. To start with the positive, it's a happy, high energy place. The servers are enthusiastic. The bread is great. I started with the etouffee. It definitely was not what I expected. Great, fresh shrimp, but sitting in a brownish broth, and broth might be describing it thicker than it was. I had an office in New Orleans and was up there often; however, I never saw etouffee with this consistency. It really was almost a flavored water. The server asked, and I was honest. She immediately recommended the Shrimp Creole as an alternative. She said the flavors were amazing, almost in contrast to the etouffee. She brought it with a smile and the manager stopped by to make sure that I liked it. It was pretty good, not really exceptional, but good. My partner had the shrimp Po'Boy and it was pretty good too. The guests next to us returned their sandwich because it was cold, but then went on to order two orders of the beignets because they liked them so much. So, I guess inconsistency is sort of the trend here. It was getting busy by the time we left. If I could walk in, I would try it again. I would never, ever wait for a table here though; there are too many other options.

We've eaten at Tibby's twice in a week! That should let you know what we think of it. First trip we tried the MAW'S FRIES Plate full of fresh-cut fries smothered with roasted beef "debris" & gravy...N'awlins style!! Loaded with cheese. They were really good. I have not had fries with roas tbeef gravy on them before but it's a great combination. My husband had the Crawfish Etouffee. I'm not a shellfish fan but I trust he thought it was good since he ate it all. He also had a cup of Red Beans and Rice. They were rich and yummy. They serve half a link of grilled Andouille sausage and a slice of garlic bread with the beans. That would make a light lunch in it's own. I had a half Po Boy plain with just the Andouille sausage. It would normally come with lettuce, mayo, and I think tomatoes. I loved it but it was a little too plain, my fault I ordered it that way. The sausage is really good, not too spicy but has a kick and has a snap when you bite into it. The Po Boy It came with a side. I got the Cheese Grits, so good. I like grits thick and they were. My husband also had a cup of Seafood Gumbo. He said it was a bit thinner than he likes but the taste was very good. After all that (we took alot home) I had to try the beignets. The small order is 3. They were yummy. A tiny bit undercooked. I had a cup of cafe au lait . It was good. I'm kinda wussy coffee drinker. I don't like it too hot. This was not hot. Perfect for me. I know some of my friends would think it should be warmer. The only downside I had in my meal was the coffee cup itself...it has the strangest thick lip on it. It was hard to drink out of. I couldn't finish my coffee without out fear I would spill it on me if I turned it up enough to drink the rest of the coffee out. It's not a very large cup so you really want all of the good coffee out of it lol. 2nd trip Got right to business for lunch yesterday. I had half the roast beef po boy with sausage cheese grits. I ate about half of the half. It was warm and the beef just falls apart. My hubby had Crawfish Etouffee and red beans and rice.. again. lol The garlic bread they serve with it is the bomb. It should be it's own appetizer. We shared the bread pudding. It was very good. I love raisins in bread pudding and they were sweet and plump. The sauce is clear but has a buttery creaminess too it. It was a large slab which the two of us couldn't finish. I had the cafe au lait again, still had trouble with that weird cup. Maybe I can get it in a to go cup next time. We will be back. Our kids want to try it. So we have to take them ;) Great service on both trips. The staff seems to get along well and be happy. That is such an important part of dining to me. Do wear a sweater if you get cold easily. They air was cranked way down both times. That's a plus to me.

the beignets are the jam. i could have eaten a million of those. the food however was just okay. the first thing they told us when we got there was that the food was not very spicy. i'm pretty sure we went to a new orleans themed restaurant for that exact reason. bummer. they were really busy on a sunday evening so the service was not very fast towards the end of our meal. also, and this is a random complaint, the pictures on the wall are kind of scary. my daughter starting crying after looking at the picture next to our table. also clown alert, there is a massive clown painting right when you walk in the door. this place is okay and i think with time they will improve.

'Ok' Cajun food for Orlando. The staff, sub-par for course in typical over- priced, Winter Park fashion. Too fake and cookie-cutter of a place to pull of a REAL New Orleans Kitchen, however this is about as Cajun as it gets for Orlando.

I was completely surprised by this restaurant. The decor was loud and so very reminiscent of mardigras. It was very apparent it was a chain restaurant though not like a mom and pop New Orleans kitchen restaurant. The food was excellent to my tastebuds! We got eggplant sticks. the "salsa" that accompanied it needed some cayenne and horseradish hot sauce but the eggplant was well cooked and the breadcrumbs or corn meal it was dipped in had a flavor and texture of its on. overall well done! one of the managers was our main waiter however it seemed like there was a teamwork element going on. It was really nice to see. shrimp cheddar grits was in a red wine cajun sauce that was excellent! the new orleans potato salad was a bit dry than what i am used to but it was delightful. also on our table was jambalaya and seafood gumbo. all well prepared and flavor full. i must say i particularly liked the okra in the gumbo, it seemed to have a kick of its own. for dessert, BEIGNETS of course! while not exactly what i recalled from my recent trip to cafe du monde, it was worth it since i didnt have to drive 13 hrs for it! i definitely want to return to try the bread pudding and the po-boys and more of the various appetizers!

Came here for the first time with my sister and her boyfriend. It was busy, but wAs sat down promptly. We order appetizer, shrimp remoulade which the remoulade was very good and kettle cooked chicken which was okay (wouldn't order it again, nothing special). They had the po boys and a side, which is reasonably priced. The oyster po boy with the remoulade sauce my sister had was tasty, one of the best po boys I had in Orlando. I had the chicken on rice with tomatoes and artichoke. It was okay, the chicken breast was plain, not to flavorful. I definitely would come back, want to try the gumbo and the muffelettta next time.

Having graduated from LSU and spending so many years in the Mother land of Cajun flavor I would say i am happy to have the choice to visit and drink and eat in that order in central fl and new Cajun place. The atmosphere is a 10 and the staff is a 11. They are very attentive and I am very much looking forward to Football season in the bar with the Tigers and the Saints. As for the food it is really Miss and Hit. I wold agree with previous reviews that the Benigets are out of this world and worth the trip alone. I would just not be looking to get blown away from the flavor of menu. I have dined there twice with one week intervals. Had a great time both times. Geaux Tigers

I truly enjoyed my dining experience at Tibby's! The food was delicious and the service was superb. The atmosphere was bright and loud, but that just added to the fun experience for me. Try it, you'll like it!

It always feels like some sort of Mardi Gras block party, when I go there. The food's definitely worth sitting down for, and the happy hour specials make any day better. Saturdays, they host live music from 12:30 to 4:00pm (Kid Dutch's band, doing New Orleans favorites from the last hundred years). This is the only place you'll find anything like this for a very good driving radius. Tibby's goes on my "highly recommended" list.

First time..very good food! There was 4 of us. Muffaletta, potato salad, chicken sausage gumbo, wings, country fried steak and bread pudding was very good! Were will definitely come back!

This is literally good as it gets. If you want a taste of Louisiana at an affordable price, you cant go wrong at Tibby's. They offer an authentic creole and cajun experience; truly a jewel in Winter Park. Its our cut of Louisiana in outskirts of metropolitan Orlando, worth the visit every time. Also one word "beneights" enough said...come give your mouth what it craves already!

Our first visit. We ordered a variety of dishes: Etouffee, File Gumbo, Po-boy, fried pickles, red beans and rice, Jambalaya, grits. Food and service were good. The Etouffe was slightly fishy and the red beans and rice were not as fresh as it should be (premade beans tend to thicken, just a personal preference for a runnier base). The service was excellent. Overall our family group was pleased and we all will return.

Freaking love this place! Artistic, loud atmosphere, awesome onion rings & grits, and great drink deals!

Overall, very good. The bread for the po' boys needs to be put under the broiler at the end to give the proper warmth and crunch that an authentic po' boy is supposed to have. Happy Hour should go back to stopping at 7 instead of 6.

I would give this place 10 stars if it were an option! Don't let the odd location fool you, this Winter Park gem offers amazing food, at a fair price. Every thing I have tried is amazing. The shrimp and grits are phenomenal. My husband I usually share it and the combo platter which comes with a small portion of jumbalaya, gumbo and crawfish pie. Ahh... The crawfish pie is so good. It's a pastry filled with chunks of crawfish and a Cajun red sauce. Pair this with one of their cold goblet beers and some beignets for desert and you would swear you were in the French Quarter. Service sometimes varies, I've had everything from the best to the worst, but the food itself is always perfection! A must try!!!!

so i finally got around to trying tibby's and i can't say enough about how awesome the experience was. walked in to find a live band, great atmosphere, super friendly staff, strong drinks and awesome food. i ordered a half crawfish po'boy and a side of andouille cheese grits and both were incredible. crawfish cooked perfect, the remoulade sauce was fery flavorful, the grits were the perfect consistency and the sausage gave em a nice spice. despite how filling the generous portions were our waitress convinced us to order some beignets and i do not regret letting my will power cave in on that one bit. they were to die for. overall this was the best meal i have had in orlando for quite some time. i would reccomend it to anyone looking for a fun, quality dining experience.

I had found out about Tibby's New Orleans Kitchen months ago but only just last week remembered to go and check them out. My main reason for going was to indulge in their Shrimp & Grits. I had never tried that dish before & after hearing a radio talk show host talk about how much he loved that dish, I knew I just had to go to Tibby's to try theirs! I was surprised to find the restaurant in a strip center, but once inside, I enjoyed how wonderfully decorated it was inside! Lots of fun, colorful pictures & sculptures. Eclectic for sure! The shrimp & cheddar grits was served with andouille sausage in a red wine gravy. A perfect amount of food! I felt like I got my money's worth! It was spicy but not too much. I also had 1/2 of their Bienville Salad. Yum! But the star of the show was their warm, homemade Bread pudding served with a warm, creamy brandy sauce. Oh my! I shared my dessert with my friend. Big mistake! Was waaay too good to share. Oh well. Live & learn! All & all, it was a fun experience. A little more expensive that I like to pay for a late lunch but still, a fun experience! They also have music on Saturdays & serve Mint Juleps! Must try a Mint Julep next!

Loved the atmosphere & our server was great. The fried pickles were really good, and the bread for my shrimp po' boy was so fresh- it was wonderful. A little hotsauce really helped my sandwich, though; it could have been a little bit tastier. Overall, a good meal at a good price. We'll be back for sure.

Really? Is this the best they can do. I have heard rave reviews about this restaurant from relatives, co-workers and friends. My husband and I were out and about and stopped for dinner expecting excellence. Not the case. He had the 12 Napkin Roast Beef Po-Boy and Dirty Rice. I had the Tibby's Style 1/2 shrimp 1/2 oyster Po-Boy with half a Caesar salad. The roast beef was maybe a step above Arby's. The dirty rice has an unpleasant artificial flavor that makes you want to spit it out, the shrimp were rubbery, the oysters were microscopic, the remoulade sauce was pink mayonnaise and the Caesar salad was bland. Worst of all a Po-Boy is supposed to made on a French Baguette, crunchy on the outside soft and delicious on the inside. Tibby's serves a glutenous-rubbery-white bread-sad-substitute for a French Baguette. I can say the iced tea was good. The restaurant is decorated nicely and is colorful but there are horrible acoustic issues. The loudness of the music and customers trying to talk over the music will deafen you in the hour or so that you spend inside. This is styro food marketed as authentic New Orleans style. I can guar-on-tee you that none of their chef/cooks have been near New Orleans. Spend your $35.00 on something else.

The food here is great! The Jambalaya was just spicy enough, hot, and delicious. The Gumbo was perfect, thick, hot, spicy, and just awesome! The kids had chicken fingers, they were good but not remarkable. As mentioned before the decor is really cool and worth the visit just to see. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 was service. The door greeters open the door and say "Hello" but then kinda stand around like you know where to go. It's a bit confusing the first time. Our waitress did not appear too concerned about getting our drinks or refilling them or checking on us etc. Now that I've been there a few times I'm getting used to taking my glass to the bar to get a refill!

As someone who grew up eating this style food, Tibby's is as close as you can get in Orlando to this type of food. The crawfish étouffée is the perfect food of choice for my 17 month old twins, but needs some Tobasco added for my taste. Their crawfish po'boy is the best po'boy I've had in a long time. The mufeleta is definitely not up to the standards of Central Grocery. The Jambalaya is awesome, and the dirty rice is super tasty. The bread pudding is not the best, but my standards are very high. We have eaten their 3 times now and well worth it.

Very loud, average service, very bland food, bread needs alot of help. A far far cry from anything served in South Louisiana. Had heard great things and was not impressed, too bad we were really looking forward to it. We did not have the beignets which based on other reviews seem to be a winner.

Awesome place! The wife came here with her girlfriends a few weeks ago and they all were raving about how good the food was and how much fun they had. About ten days ago I went there with a couple of buddies for dinner and we also had a great time. The hostess was there to open the door for us and she was super friendly. We sat at a high top near the bar and the service was fast! We started with some fried pickles and I got a cup of the seafood gumbo. I followed that up with half of a fried oyster po-boy and a side of andouille and cheddar grits. All of the food was really fresh and yummy. I had a couple of the Abita turbodog beers while we were there. They serve them in fun, frosty goblets. The bathrooms are small but clean. The only complaint is how you have to pull open two doors on your way out from the bathrooms and I was following a guy that did not wash his hands. Maybe just open that up or turn them into swinging doors with glass windows in them so you can see when people are coming. That's my OCD coming out a little but I just wish more restaurants did the airport style when it comes to restrooms with everything automated and no doors. All in all, the service was great and food was amazing and all the staffers were really nice. If you haven't tried this place, you need to check it out!

Everything about the experience is great. We wanted to check it out after we read such amazing reviews here on Yelp. The decor and ambience of the place is great. I'm glad we were seated in the main floor of the restaurant, b/c the tables down the aisle to the bathrooms looked a little cramped and there wasn't much room to walk around. In fact, throughout the tables are way too close. A rather large man at the table behind us had trouble getting in his seat and staying comfortable. Food: We had the fried pickles - we haven't had them since we lived up in the panhandle. These were only okay - good to try, but wouldn't order them again. My mother ordered the Eggplant Tchoupitoulas and liked it. Some pieces of Eggplant were hard and undercooked, but overall it was a good dish. Even though it doesn't say so in the menu - it is covered with cheese throughout. So, beware that you're ordering a lasagna (minus the pasta). My hubby had the Shrimp and Andouille Cheddar grits and loved it. It was awesome - and came recommended by others on here. I ended up with the Bienville Salad - minus the cheese, dressing on the side. It was overpriced for $9, but was the only thing I could eat. If you go with somebody who is vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or just has food allergies there isn't much to choose from. VEGETARIAN options: Eggplant Tchoupitoulas, Eggplant Parm Po-Boy, and the three salads and some sides. VEGAN and/or GLUTEN-FREE: Bienville Salad - minus the cheese. Dressing on the side. Overall its great to have some tasty Louisiana cuisine down here in Orlando.

Place is great. I am a New Orleans native and they nailed this. Decor fun, food great, beer (large) and cold!! Had the dozen fried shrimp po-boy and it was a home run. Service was good too. Dont expect spicy dishes. Many people think New Orleans and spice go together...not the case. It's cooking with the trinity, freshly battered seafood and great tasting gumbo. This place has it.

Always good. I have tried several items but the Shrimp and grits is my favorite. The fried green maters and crawfish is a great appetizer. The gumbo is awesome too. But I love shrimp and grits. Don't forget the beignets because they should be illegal.

Amazing seafood and service. I had the Lower 9th platter ( a seafood platter ) which consisted of fried oysters, catfish, shrimp, hush puppies, fries, and onion rings. Cody was our bartender/ server and he very attentive. Great place for Louisiana seafood and poboys. Bread Pudding was amazing

One word.... AMAZING! We went a couple weeks ago and everything about this place was great! The food is truly authentic (we lived in east tx/Louisiana area for 3 years) and the service was great!! It's so hard to find good authentic Cajun food and Boudin! This place has both!! We will definitely be back!!!

I work at a local non-profit and we ordered Tibby's catering for our Board meeting. They were very accommodating and helpful with answering our many questions. We chose to have it delivered and it arrived on time. They were kind enough to give us some stands and warmers to ensure the food would stay nice and warm. Everyone enjoyed the food.

First time at Tibby's. A friend recommended it as a bar option, so we weren't there to eat. We sat at the bar. Very cool eclectic Mardi Gras and New Orleans decor. Feels like real New Orleans (not that I've ever been to know) not that touristy over cheesed Mardi Gras, very authentic. The bartenders were super cool and provided great service. I'm not sure if this is normal, but we kept getting free stuff. Between my party of 3 we enjoyed 3 free cocktails they just randomly made and handed to us, and a free bread pudding dessert. A waiter walked by with the dessert and I gave that "I want to have sex with that food" look. He turned, sat it down in front of me and told me to enjoy. It was like a warm delicious French Toast cake, and I normally hate bread puddings. I would have gladly paid for it, too, but it was free! I loved this place and definitely need to come back for the full dining experience.

Went for a private party where we rented out the back room called the Napoleon Room. It fits 12-20 people and had a TV in it and music playing on the speakers, the room also had great decor and art. Service was outstanding. Since we had a decent sized group of about 15 our host ordered an array of appetizers for us all to sample. Alligator & shrimp "cheesecake", onion rings, fried pickle slices, French bread, shrimp in a hearty sauce. All these were quite good, I personally liked the huge onion rings with the Remoulade sauce. Many others raved about the cheesecake which despite it's name is not a dessert at all but more like a loaf or casserole. Only bad thing was the cheesecake was kinda hard to slice up and split with people, I personally thought it was good but not great, though most everyone else loved it. Our server wisely kept the drinks flowing, they had a wide variety of cocktails: Hurricanes, Sazerac, Mint Juleps, and beers served in large heavy chilled thick glass goblets. While drinking my Abita Turbodog, I felt like a medieval king because of the goblet I was drinking it out of. For my main course I ordered the shrimp and grits with Andouille and caramelized onions. I love grits but most places don't know how to make them. Tibbys sure does! This dish was spectacular, tons of rich flavor, it had a dark broth pooled around the edges which had a great rich flavor. The Andouille were finely diced and the onions were cooked until soft and glistening but not darkened. Onions which are typically the strongest flavor of a dish were a nice mild light bite which complemented the other bold flavors if the sauce, grits and sausage. The grits were thick and well flavored with cheese. I was very impressed with this dish. Sautéed shrimp, andouille sausage & sweet onions over cheese grits & finished with a red wine gravy. We finished off with Beignets, piled with powdered sugar they were large and pretty good, I had to specifically ask for chicory coffee, which our server should have suggested, but it was the middle of the day so I'll give her the benefit of the doubt. I must have chicory coffee to dip my begets in and stir in some of the excess powdered sugar. Make sure you don't laugh or breath too heavy while eating your Beignets or you may end up looking like Tony Montana with white powder all over your face. I can't wait to return to Tibby's and try the gumbo, po boys, crawfish pie and everything. tibbysneworleanskitchen.…

Service was excellent, location is a storefront in a plaza but doesn't feel like it inside, wonderful and authentic New Orleans atmosphere and cuisine. Definitely get the beignets for dessert! We got the 3 beignet plate (wished we had gotten the 7), but we were so content after appetizers, dinner, dessert and coffee that it's a good thing we only got 3....this time. Next time we'll know better. Their shrimp and grits were excellent! Go enjoy by yourself, with a date, or a group of friends. You'll be glad you did.

New Orleans atmosphere, Cajun & Creole food, friendly service. Also has a sports bar and sidewalk dining. Not much room for improvement. 4.5 stars. This place has great franchise potential. It is to Louisiana and cajun what Texas Roadhouse is to cowboy and steak.

The service... Ryan has to be the best waiter like ever! Went here for my bday and he mad me feel really special! They gave me beignets on the house and a bday card. He even wrote a little inside joke on it based on a previous conversation that I had with him. To the food... I had the Seafood Gumbo which had Shrimp, oysters & Andouille sausage simmered with fresh vegetables & okra, topped with rice & a crab claw. It was ok. Not much flavor if you ask me. The green tomatoes and crawfish were good. I wish they would make popcorn crawfish as an appetizer. That would be so yummy. The bartender made a great frozen strawberry margarita. My best friend ordered the shrimp and grits and to be honest, I wish I ordered that instead. I would go again especially since they have a full bar and I would order the shrimp and grits.

I like the decor and service here very much. You can sense the Tijuana Flats influence, but it's definitely a sit-down restaurant. I've tried quite a few of the items here, and haven't yet found the thing that transports me back to New Orleans. That said, the food is good, especially the dirty rice. There aren't many cajun choices in town, and Tibby does a good job of filling the gap.

  • Tracy N.

Love this place! Delicious food. My personal favorites are fried pickles, the jambalaya, and beignets. Very reasonably priced. Service is generally good and the only time it wasn't, the manager recognized the problem and gave us tons of desserts on the house. I always make an effort to come here when I'm home in winter park!

Fun, very ADD New Orleanes restaurant. Menu is very heavy on seafood...which is OK by me, but difficult for non seafood folks. I would have like to see more of the off-beat cajun/creole offerings, like pigs feet and oxtail...but for what they did have, it was delicious, although a little expensive for the servings.

Wondering if they took the kitchen & management staff to the new Tibby's in Altamonte!?! We'e been going here since they opened; as recently as this past February, we were always happy with our meal, never disappointed, until tonight. Grits were clumpy & room temp, crawfish étouffée roux was room temp (only thing hot was the scoop of rice! It was edible, but nothing to go out & pay for and definitely not as mouth-watering as the previous time I ordered it! My wife's Cajun chicken was over-seasoned & salty, potato salad was not creamy w way more olives than bacon... Guess we see it all too often when restaurants expand, they lose their way, sometimes temporarily. Hoping this is just a hiccup, but I won't know for a while. Unfortunate, very unfortunate. Service, though, was excellent... unless he had something to do with the cold food! ;) May be awhile til we go back...

Really delicious, a great place for Cajun food. The blackened chicken pasta was very good, if a little heavy on the lemon. But the beignets for dessert were amazing, just amazing. The place has fantastic decor, and Abita beers on tap (hard to find). But it is very cramped, you will have servers and patrons pretty much constantly bumping into your chair on a busy night. But it is well worth a visit!

I can't think of better Cajun food anywhere in Orlando. All their food is awesome. My only compliant is I don't think they put enough meat in their Po' boy at lunch, it is heavy on the bread.

I'd been wanting to go here for ages, and finally had an opportunity--now I only wish that I lived closer! The fried pickles are excellent! But the star of the evening was the Shrimp & Andouille Cheddar Grits. My mouth is watering right now, just thinking about them. As a matter of fact, I'd better head back there right now to make sure they were as good as I remember... Service was good, and we had a big party in the back room.

Being a Sunday and as they are located in Winter Park (popular weekend brunch spot); I called them to make reservations for lunch. I was promptly informed that they are not accepting reservations as of yet. Well, they aren't located on Park Avenue, how busy can they be? The hostess informed me that since there is 'live music' today, I should get there as early as possible. We eventually pulled over close to 1 o'clock. The first thing that struck me was the lively jazz/blues music and energetic atmosphere unlike any I have seen in Orlando. Patrons were tapping their feet if not dancing. The patronage in itself was multi-facet. I saw elderly couples gently tapping their feet, little babies in their high chair mesmerized by the music, and college and high school kids having a blast. The walls were decorated with an eclectic mix of New Orleans paraphernalia setting the stage for a fun experience. At the hostess desk, I was informed that are wait will be 45 minutes. Hmmm!! I have dragged my starving family; should I or shouldn't I? Oh! What the heck, I decided to take a chance and stick around to experience what the fuss is about. I must state the music made the wait seem like minutes only. If the music wasn't sufficient to keep my hungry family distracted, I opted to order the infamous 'beignets' (family portion). The delicate and airy pillows of fried dough dusted with powdered sugar were sublime. Hey, I could even live of those and I hardly have a sweet tooth. I resisted the temptation to order another plate as we still had to actually be seated to eat our lunch. The vibrant and playful ambiance, flavorful food, and friendly staff make Tibby's a wonderful addition to Orland dining scene and a fine introduction to Cajun cuisine. I am rather envious of Winter Park residents who get to visit this wonderful 'neighborhood gem' in there backyards.

Been here several times and it is very authentic and delicious. Everything I've tried here has been amazing and reminds me of home. They have a little bit of everything from over there which is awesome. If you wanna sample a little bit of everything try the cups of gumbo, etouffeefe, beans and rice etc and make a meal that way for your first try : ) the benjays are awesome and remind me of café du monde : D the drinks are pretty good too. They are always full of people and everyone always seems to be smiling and in a good mood. The waitresses are pretty polite and well dressed also which we appreciate.

This place is not for the health-conscious, but it is so very good! We had fried crawfish, fried green tomatoes, oyster po boy, fried pickles, shrimp po boy, and beignets. Everything was incredibly delicious and tasted quite fresh (the bread was especially perfectly flaky on the outside and soft on the inside). The service was slow, but the staff was friendly. The restaurant itself was very festive and had New Orleans themed decor throughout. We would definitely go again.

So only been here twice and I ordered the same dish both times. The Chicken Panchatrain...sorry if I butchered the name. I just love the artichokes and the white sauce. it's one of those dishes that even when you say "I'm done, I need a box", you'll still be diving into the box to eat more. for an appetizer my fiance and I ordered a cup of Jumbalaya and a cup of cheese grits with the gravy sauce....um yeah we devourd it like a pack of wolves! My dad used to travel with a company he worked at and they'd travel to conventions all over the US, but out of all the places he'd go out to eat, he always said "New Orleans has the best food." I see it's true.

Well this place was as the 3-star rating says "A-OK". We went in for a Sunday lunch after the mayhem of Whole Foods. Very unassuming from the outside in this strip center, but inside it was decked out NOLA-theme. Service was good and prompt. I ordered the shrimp étouffée and my husband got a spinach salad with fried shrimp. The étouffée was serviceable, not NOLA good, but a good Orlando attempt. The shrimp, sadly, were clearly frozen farm raised and had no flavor. The salad was okay, just nothing remarkable. Service was great!

Service can be a bit spotty here, but if you can forgive an inattentive server (usually due to the overwhelming crowds of people) the food is worth it. Their fried green tomato and crawfish po boy is fantastic. There is an option for you to get a half sandwich and a side (I recommend the grits) for around $10 and it's more than enough food. Their shrimp and grits, though a little pricey, are well worth it! Lots of good-sized shrimp on a bed of grits loaded with andouille sausage. Definitely end your meal with some beignets. For an appetizer, skip the boudin balls. Some friends of mine enjoyed them, but I found they were too heavy on the rice and I couldn't taste the other ingredients, like the pork liver. Opt for the muffaletta springrolls. I could eat those all day long! I'd love to head back there soon to try the bacon and fried green tomato salad and the shrimp and alligator cheesecake. Hope it's as good as it sounds!

I was craving some New Orleans food today and came in to get some gumbo. I ordered the seafood gumbo which was good but not as thick or flavorful as I was hoping for. Also it was warm not hot enough. My friend got the jambalaya and said it was very good. As For dessert, I got the cafe au lait and beignets which were both very good.

As a New Orleans native, let me just say that I was super excited when I saw that another Cajun restaurant was opening. I love the cuisine from home, and it is hard to come by here in Orlando. I have been to this location several times, more times than I can remember, so this review is based on multiple visits. The food: some of the food here is great, some of the food is good, and some of the food is just okay. I have tried several things on the menu here and there are a lot of items that are really awesome and others that could use improvement. I will compile a rough list of only the things I've eaten. The great: My favorite here is the dirty rice; it is arguably some of the best I've ever eaten. I always get it with my meal. The 12 napkin roast beef po-boy is excellent and made just the way they do back home. The crawfish pie is excellent, as is the crawfish remoulade appetizer. I like the shrimp po-boy, but get it with remoulade sauce in lieu of mayo as they are quite heavy with the mayo; lastly the beignets are AMAZING. Best I have had outside of Cafe du Monde, and I don't give that kind of compliment lightly. The good: the crawfish and fried green tomatoes appetizer (or I'm sure po-boy also). It's a decent amount of food and listed as an appetizer, but I have actually had it for my meal; the crawfish etouffe is on the good list. It wasn't exactly seasoned correctly and a little overly tomato-ey, but overall a good dish; the fried pickles are good, not great. That's just to say they are no better/worse than any other restaurant with this offering, and I have had better in at least one place here in town. The okay: the gumbo - I don't know what it is about the gumbo; it almost tastes like they've added some unknown seasoning in it that you don't find in the standard Louisiana recipes because it is the right consistency, so they are definitely using a roux, but the taste is....off. The jambalaya isn't right either. Once again it's as if they are using some kind of spice or herb that isn't in the recipes back home, maybe to put their signature touch on it. Piece of advice on that is, the recipes back home are perfect, no additional touches necessary. The ambience there is a little over the top, but so is everything in NOLA, so it fits. I like reading the posters and showing my kids the parade ladders on the ceiling and telling them stories about growing up in New Orleans and all the special, unique things and experiences that can only be had there, and at Tibby's I even have visual aids to do it! The service when they first opened was a little sketchy, but over the past year they have really worked on that, and it is much better than in the beginning. They try to please, and that is what counts most. Overall, I am a fan of this restaurant. We do eat here often (when we aren't going to our other favorite Cajun restaurant!) and the kids love putting remoulade sauce on everything they eat!

I wanted to try so many things on the menu but was alone so no one to share with. I started w fried green tomatoes w fried crawfish which had a great sauce drizzled on the plate. Next I had a special which was fried catfish over cheesy grits w andouille and a red wine sauce. It was two big pieces of fish which were fried perfectly and the grits were creamy and delicious w the mix of flavors. I finished with beignets which were light, warm and delicious w mounds of powdered sugar. The service was super and timing spot on. I loved everything I tried and would like to have tried at least 10 more of the interesting selections.

What a phenomenal dinner! Started with shrimp & alligator cheesecake, onion ring stack and Blue Max punch. The cheesecake was a wonderful conglomeration of shrimp chunks and alligator gobs in a three cheese amalgamation coated with Panko bread crumbs. The onion rings were tender yet crispy served with a perfectly zippy remoulade sauce. The Blue Max punch , a luscious libation of pineapple juice, vodka, champagne, ginger ale and Blue Curacao packs quite the punch. One is sufficient for a New Orleans party mood. For dinner we split Walter's Po'boy sandwich. "Sandwich" does not do this creation justice; more like a meal for two or more instead of "sandwich". The lightly fried chicken breast was tossed in Louisiana Gold hot sauce, topped with crispy peppered bacon and pepper jack cheese served on warm crispy French bread with all the accoutrements befitting such a magnificent creation. Dessert was definitely not a necessity, except that beignets are an absolute must when partaking of New Orleans cuisine. The beignets were warm and crusty on the outside and fluffy on the inside and instantly transported me back to the Cafe du Monde. I must say this Southern raised Mississippi girl approves and I shall return soon as Tibby's is much closer than New Orleans.

Tibby's calls my name every time I'm missing NOLA. The Lower 9th Platter is a ridiculous heaping plate of fried fish and miscellaneous fried goodies for only $22 that is big enough to serve as a meal for 2. BBQ shrimp app is also huge, and nice and saucy and spicy. Cheddar grits, also a win. The boiled crawfish were not my favorite. On my to do list: muffaletta, boudin balls and oyster po boy. The hurricane is a bit grapey, but strong and therefore thumbs up. Beers come served in a giant mug. The owners have done a great job with the decor, making your forget you're in a strip mall shopping center. And every time I read the story about Uncle Tibby I get teary eyed because I'm sentimental like that. Shut up.

Closest things to New Orleans in Orlando. Been here multiple times for a nice ice cold purple haze and a bowl of red beans and rice, always does the trick when I need my Nola fix. Po boys and beignets aren't on the level of New Orleans but still good. Service is always quick and friendly.

We love Tibby ' s and would visit more frequently if closer to / or in Brevard. We were sad to learn they aren't planning to open a restaurant in the Waterford area. Please reconsider! ! Food is excellent ! Service is great!

Authentic new orleans restaurant. The ambiance and the design of the place with the decorations on the walls and ceiling is amazing. The live music on sundays is something you can relax to while enjoying your meal. Everything ordered was flavorful and tasty. Definitely an experience coming here

Nicely decorated. It reminds me a lot of Cafe Tu Tu Tango with it's bright and colorful artwork displayed haphazardly all around the restaurant. I started off with with a spring roll (?) I'm not sure what it's called but it was an egg roll basically. It was too oily and soggy and not crunch at all. A bit of a disappointment. For my entree I ordered the Cajun Shrimp Pasta which is: Eight large shrimp sautéed in our house wine butter sauce, Cajun seasoning, sun-dried tomatoes & chopped green onions. Placed over a bowl of linguini. I guess I don't realize that I I wasn't a fan of linguini until I tastedit. Linguini seemed a bit dry and not enough sauce to compensate for it. It was my fault for not realizing Linguini is usually a bit dry and I didn't read the menu thoroughly. I didn't make a dent in the pasta and did not take the leftovers home. My friend ordered the JAMBALAYA, CRAWFISH PIE, FILE GUMBO $12 Sautéed crawfish & fresh vegetables loaded in a pastry shell & fried. Comes with one pie, Andouille sausage Jambalaya & a cup of Chicken & Andouille File Gumbo. and his entree was the BOMB. Perfectly seasoned and delectable. We finished off with dessert which was DELICIOUS. The banana bread pudding was BEYOND heaven. Best I've ever had hands down. I may have gotten a bit tipsy from the rum that was clearly evident in it. My taste buds exploded with happiness when I took a bite of the savory, moist, rum-filled banana bread pudding. I've never tasted the alcohol in my banana bread pudding as strongly as the one that Tibby's served and I loved it! It might even rival Ohana's banana bread pudding. My friend ordered the beignets which were good but not as good as my bread pudding. He was fighting to switch desserts which I didn't allow since my entree and appetizer were slightly disappointing. I'm glad my dessert redeemed my experience. I'll try to visit next time and order something that will make it worthwhile. I unfortunately picked out the wrong things from the menu to order.

My husband loves Cajun food. I, on the other hand, typically do not. Nonetheless, trying to make him happy, I agreed to go to Tibby's. I was pleasantly surprised! The food was quite good -- the beignets are amazing! I ordered the Rita's Chicken, which was very good (huge portion - I was eating it for lunch the next 2 days). My child ordered the kid's fried shrimp. Delicious! :) Not surprisingly, my husband can't stop talking about this restaurant - one of his favorites now (5 stars from him)! We will definitely be back!

Being born and raised in New Orleans I've always been a bit of a skeptic when it came to anything located outside of the Crescent City as "authentic" NOLA. My review is based on many visits to Tibby's since a) we've been a lot and b) 2 less than stellar times/meals does not a bad review make. All in all, Tibby's offers a pretty great idea of what I grew up on - for me, it was just food, not a certain type of cuisine, etc. So yeah, Tibby's has good food! We've had several different things on the menu with the most popular order being the roast beef po-boy. We've also enjoyed BBQ shrimp which was ridiculous. The cheese plank really isn't authentic by any stretch of the imagination but we get when my daughter joins. The muffuletta was a big disappointment - but live & learn. I enjoy mine pressed overnight in the fridge but they only offer a "made to order" assembly of components or pressed - like a cuban. No thanks. Most recently the BF and I went nuts and ordered something different. I had the shrimp and andouille cheese grits and he got the jambalaya, crawfish pie, file gumbo plate. My meal wasn't bad but the grits were just loaded with cream. So much that you could not taste any cheese whatsoever. I had about 8 shrimp, I believe and the sausage was cut up into small cubes. The red wine gravy was tasty but it would have been better if they'd drained off the sausage first. A LOT of fat co-mingled with my gravy. No cool. As far as the bar goes, I usually get the Hemingway and he gets an Abita. I have also tried the King Cake Martini. Did not enjoy that one so much. It smelled AH-MA-ZING, truly. But the taste was quite medicinal. I blame the Goldschlager and a heavy handed bartender. But really, who am I kidding. You won't catch this girl blaming a heavy handed bartender...mama didn't raise no fool! Yes, I still drank it. All. Beignets are delightful. Made me miss home and my family. Getting my daughter with the beignet sneak was like making memories with my dad all over again! We'll go back for sure. Besides, my daughter claims to love it. Partly because she likes the chicken & cheese po-boy but mostly because "it makes me feel closer to you, mama." Seriously.

I've already been here twice and I love everything I try! The first time I went was 4weeks back and had maws fries. I would highly recommend it as an appetizer, although you may not be able to finish it. Next I had andouille and chicken gumbo, it was delicious! Last night I had the jambalaya, file gumbo and crawfish pie and it was to die for. The service was great and management came to check on us since my significant other got his rice with pork in it and he doesn't eat pork. Management offered us other things but we declined since we had a toddler with us that was getting antsy. Staff was great with our toddler. The ambience is a bit loud, but it is a fun place and it is great for kids! I would recommend this place for everyone as the ambience and food is great!

The food was great! We stumbled upon this ever so delicious spot while playing tourist. The service is great and everyone is so lively and happy! It is loud, which we do not mind as we are family oriented and are used to it. Try the Lower Ninth Platter. It has a little bit of everything (a sampler basically). Oysters, catfish, shrimp, fries, and hush puppies. I also recommend the BBQ Shrimp as well as Creole Shrimp. Everything was seasoned PERFECTLY! We have hit the New Orleans spots, and trust me, this is so similar! This was a great spot to stumble upon. We wouldn't hesitate to return if we were in the area again!

My brother took me here on my recent trip to Orlando. Just amazing! I loved the noisy atmosphere while we waited for our table having a hurricane from the bar. It was very busy the night we went in but the wait was well worth it. Having grown up in New Orleans I can honestly say I am pretty picky about my cajun food and having learned how to cook from my MawMaw I am even picker about my gumbo! Tibby's lived up to their reputation. Everything we ate was so yummy, so full of flavor and VERY generous portions. I had the crawfish etoufee' and it was really outstanding. Our servers were also very helpful. My only "wish" was with the chicken and andouille gumbo....while it was very good I do think they could do better at sourcing their andouille. It reminded me a little of kielbasa in its consistency. This is by no means a complaint as the gumbo was made perfectly....had the right color from the roux, right textures. My husband had the seafood gumbo and it was a spot on taste replication of my MawMaws gumbo....not an easy thing to do. I also loved reading the history of Tibby on the menu. I would def go back here when in Orlando and would encourage anyone to go here for a great dinner.

What can I say about Tibbys???? Its just the best place in the world!!!!! I come here often and have not even been close to being disappointed. I have never waited a minute to be seated. I always order the milk punch its my favorite since it has Irish cream. Their hurricane is very good as well and the king cake martini too. is strong! Those are my drinks of preference highly recommend them. As appetizers go the muffaleta spring rolls are great they serve them warm with this AMAZING sauce I couldn't get over it. Their wings are perfectly crisp and delicious on their homemade sauce. Their fried pickles are perfect too with another great sauce home made remoulade. Their cheese flank is awesome as well. Haven't tried the alligator cheesecake but the hubby has and he says is a gooey cheesy fried spread that you put in their French bread and he likes it. Food wise I refuse to order anything other than the Rita's chicken!!!! Its this amazing flavorful breaded huge 2 pieces of chicken breast topped with a perfectly delicious lemon sauce served with a authentically flavored dirty rice. Its enough for 2!!! I always take the leftovers home and have them for lunch the next day.

Chicken Ponchatrain is by fair the best dish and my favorite dish ANYWHERE at the moment!!!! Oh, and I absolutely recommend the Fried Green Tomatoes w/ Remoulade sauce, to-die-for GOOD! Never had a bad meal, and somehow we are craving 'Nawlins food at least once a week and this is the only place we've gone in Orlando that REALLY done 'Nawlins justice!!

I've been here a handful of times and the place is growing on me. The atmosphere is up beat and the staff is usually on point. Best po boy in town and the Cajun Chicken Pasta is top notch. For anyone who loves cajun food, Tibby's is a must visit.

This place has decent Cajun food, but nothing extraordinary considering the other culinary choices in Winter Park. I had the shrimp PoBoy and it was ok. I'll try this place out again if I'm in the area, but nothing worth writing home about!

We chose Tibby's one specific night for the live entertainment they had to offer: Mr. Big Red Dog himself, the local infamous New Orleans hero, Jeff Howell. Unfortunately though, we weren't the only ones. The place was absolutely packed. We were told it would be a 40 minute wait so we agreed to wait. I enjoyed a nice cold one from the bar while the hubby and kiddos munched on a family favorite, fried pickles. Everywhere we go, we have to have the fried pickles. Tibby's pickles were pretty good. 40 minutes passed. We asked for an update. "Waiting for a group to leave." 50 minutes. No change. 60 minutes. Still no change so we asked for a manager. 15 minutes later we were finally seated at a table that the manager cleaned off himself. Then, to add insult to injury, we were given Mr. Turtle... the slowest moving, most social server I have had in years! Years, people! He would meander through the restaurant talking to random tables that were not his and meanwhile leaving us waiting for drinks. He was in such la la land that our shrimp appetizer arrived minutes before our entree. Not really an appetizer at that point. We asked for drink refills again and Mr. Turtle Meander returned with 2 of the 3 drinks 15 minutes later and then had to go back to get the third one because he forgot about it. By the time we were done eating our fabulous Rita's Chicken Cutlets (perfectly fried chicken), flavor-in-every-bite Chicken Pontchartrain, and the dreamy Shrimp & Andouille Cheddar Grits, we were ready to go. But, we got to wait... again. And with every swallow of hot, dry mouth, those previous eats of New Orleans heaven slowly disappeared. Ladies and gents, if it wasn't for the fabulous entertainment to distract us from the 2 1/2 hours it took to have our first Tibby's experience, this rating wouldn't even get a three. Quite frankly, they made me feel punished for dining there with kids. Other diners without kids got in and out, and treated to better service than we did. We watched them all come and go while we were there. So I guess if I were to sum it up - go for the food, don't take kids, request a server other than Mr. Turtle Meander, and get there early for Jeff Howell.

My favorite restaurant in Orlando. The closest thing to home a Louisiana girl could get. I enjoy the poboys most, but add a little hot sauce to the étouffée and you'll think you're in New Orleans. Prices are very fair and you get a good bit of food. Also the servers are some of the most hospitable in town. I bring in a new group of friends every time I go. Oh! A little tip; ask for brandy sauce with the beignets.

This was excellent creole food in the most unexpected setting, and at the best price! I almost didn't order the $5.00 hurricane but to my surprise, it was made with a generous portion of Bacardi 151 and deliciously balanced. For appetizer we had "barbecued shrimp" which was not barbecue as traditionally described, this wAs grilled and served with a sauce of beer, herbs, spice, a little butter and a mini loaf of bread. OMG, easily the best thing I've eaten in many months!!! For the entree, I had the eggplant tchoupitoulas. This is 100% vegetarian and screamingly delicious. The man had blackened chicken pasta which was ok but not worth ordering again (chicken over cooked and pastas little oily). Dessert was beignets although they were served piping hot with a mountain of powdered sugar, they were just a little undercooked, hence the missing star. I also enjoyed a cafe au lait and this was exceptional. The waiter was Julian and he was THE BEST!!!! The total (including an iced tea but not tip) was $53.63 for this very delicious, far above average feast of a meal. We will come back!

Just enjoyed our first meal at Tibby's. There will definitely be many more in our future. We received a Tibby's gift card from our "foodie" daughter and her boyfriend. Wow! Best Christmas gift ever! Food, atmosphere and service is outstanding. Our server knew we were first timers. Took the time (on a VERY busy Saturday day night) to go over the menu and answer any questions. Made some great recommendations. We started with the fried green tomato app. Fantastic! Followed with shrimp and cheddar grits. Amazing! Portions are huge and very reasonably priced. Brought some beignets home for later. Can't wait to go back and try a po boy and muffuletta for lunch. Tibby's is a fun place with great food! (Neat story behind it's creation too. Do a little research before you go. You'll like the place that much more!)

A little pricey for what I'm looking for in lunch but the food is good and the service is fantastic. I tried this place because I thoroughly enjoy Louisiana fare . The restaurant is dark but beautifully decorated, spacious but intimate. The menu had everything you'd expect in a southern restaurant, red beans and rice, po-boys, etouffee, jambalaya. Plus it had a full bar and desert menu. I didn't want to pay too much so I had a fried pork cutlet with red beans and rice lunch special for $8. The red beans and rice were spot on. Great consistency with a mild flavor and hint of Andouille sausage. The pork chop was pretty bland though. Panko breaded and deep fried it fit the theme but lacked the punch in the mouth I was looking for. Service was outstanding. Everyone from the hostess to the bus boy made sure to say hello. They held open doors, checked on you regularly with a smile, and were quick with a recommendation or an answer. I'd go again, but next time I'll be sure to bring a larger party.

I don't have a single bad thing to say about Tibby's. Our server was informative and attentive without smothering us. As a beer drinker, I can't stand when servers can't describe the beer on tap if asked. Especially because my boyfriend's mom always asks, bless her heart. We started with the fried zucchini and wings. Their wings were really really good. The sauce was tasty and the chicken was tender. My boyfriend had the fried shrimp poboy and it was FULL of shrimp. There were shrimp exploding everywhere! My blackened chicken poboy wasn't anything super special but was good. The real stars of the show though were the Beignets and my Hurricane. DO NOT order a hurricane here unless you want a drink that is going to "rock you like a hurricane". It's strong. It's tasty. Just do it. The Beignets.... oh the beignets.... they were flaky and they were gooey and they were delicious. It's really hard to get the kind of crispy flaky goodness at the same time as gooey yumminess without tasting under cooked. The second that I saw another table order them I had to have them. Definitely worth it.

Whenever I come here I want to try something new but can't get away from the gumbo. I did try the craw fish green tomato po-boy they had on special it was great. There bread is soft and fresh. I have tried a bite of the shrimp & andouille cheddar grits and they were spectacular. Also get the bread pudding definitely worth trying and of course the beignets

This place is my second favorite restaurant in Winter Park. I haven't had a single thing here I didn't like. Their shrimp and alligator cheesecake is INCREDIBLE. Grit cake is a thing, and it's amazing. But my personal favorite is Rita's chicken, the lemon butter sauce should be bottled and sold so it can be put on everything. So. Good. DONT even get me started on the beignets, might even be better than Cafe du Monde. If you get the brandy sauce to dip them in it takes the experience to a whole new level. Pure sugary heaven in your mouth. Eat here. You won't regret it.

Omg what a little gem. Great find as we put in the words diner drive ins and dives to search for local restaurants we found this location. This place is definitely worth visiting. Ritas chicken was AMAZING good enough for two people to share.the bread pudding and little fried pastries were too delicious. The drinks amazing as well Cody the bartender made us some great hurricanes. Prices are great by the way such a good experience. Germaine the manager was very helpful and courteous. The staff is just overall great and friendly WE MUST VISIT AGAIN. I hope you all enjoy .

Wonderful atmosphere and more importantly, delicious food. We ordered 1/2 muffuletta, the "who dat" Cajun blackened chicken and the shrimp and andouille sausage with grits. Hearty portions and scrumptious tasting. The beer is very cold and the beignets to wrap up the meal are almost better tasting than Cafe Du Monde. That says it all!!

The decor here seems to be an amalgamation of all of the loudest, most colorful New Orleans-style artifacts that the owners could find. This is not a place that looks like it could be in New Orleans -- it's a place that looks like the entirety of New Orleans' tourist souvenir shops got sick in a large room. But that's okay, a restaurant's decor is not all that important to me -- Pat O'Brien's Universal may be a pretty faithful reproduction of the original on St. Peter that takes me back when I walk into the courtyard, but that's not going to be enough when their food isn't anything special. We came in on a loud day, apparently. The place was at about 75% capacity and there was a live jazz band playing at the front [see photo]. We got seated pretty close to the band, so we could hardly hear each other most of the time. It may have been loud, but I still thought the live music was a nice touch. There are quite a few options on the menu that I'd like to try, but when I saw the Roast Beef Po' Boy, I had to have it. I fell in love with them in N.O. two visits back for a reason that defies any logical explanation. It was a great (and HUGE) sandwich [see photo] that was probably one of the messiest sandwiches I've ever had. They got that part right! It was missing something to make it perfect, but it was pretty close to what I remember. I ordered it with a side of sweet potato fries, which I could hardly touch after the sandwich, I was so full. Good experience overall. I'll be back to try something a little more "classic" New Orleans.

One of the few Cajun/Creole restaurants in Orlando; kinda "chain-y", kinda "original." Being under the same ownership of Tijuana Flats, there's a bit of annoying flair (loud music, overly decorated junk decorating the walls trying to scream "we're fun and exciting and super-New Orleans-y!!!", but in a better casual dining atmosphere instead of a quasi-fast food experience. The food is pretty damn, good though...and their beer selection is awesome (Abita Purple Haze, Turbo Dog, and Amber on tap.) I had a "captain's catch" type fried seafood platter that may as well have been for two people with very large portions of fried oysters, fried catfish, and fried shrimp...all freshly fried and crispy; tender meat inside; no "fishy" taste or smell. I didn't use any of the accompanying sauces and, instead, requested for an extra cup of remoulade. The server/kitchen had no problem substituting the menu-listed sides of onion rings and fries for andouille grits and dirty rice; which I appreciated. The rest of my party was very happy with their meals also...I can't even remember everything. We ended the meal with an order of beignets (given a couple extra...the server knew what we was doing to get a little extra tip) and the bread pudding...we were pleased. Little pricey for what should be "poor people food", which is the nature of trendy non-traditional "American" cuisine; but it's worth it for good service and great food.

I've been searching for a great New Orleans style restaurant ever since vacationing in nawleans, and I thought I found my Creole Mecca alternative in Tibby's............ Just not quite there. Let's sum up the night: Even WITH reservations, we waited an extra 45 minutes. We had a "larger" group, about 8 of us, and it was Friday, so that could be why we waited, what felt like forever. The decor is great. Fun and colorful New Orleans art stuff all over! The drinks were good. About $6 for the mix drink specials menu, good amount of choices. I chose to just order a Magic Hat beer, which cost about the same, but served in an obnoxiously large chalice that I will bet you contains ZERO extra ounces of suds. I think it is to trick you into thinking that you are getting more beer than normal. But it just lead to an impromptu work out for my arm to drink. If we didn't wait outside so long I wouldn't have minded carrying an extra 15 pounds around, but since I had no table to set it down on, this sucked. On a plus, the bloody mary was pretty tasty. The apps we had were good, nothing stellar. Tasty onion rings, fried pickles standard and tasty also. I read so many reviews about the po' boy's that I should follow suit. I realize some people like fried seafood. Some don't. Some like a taste of the sea. And some like the taste of grease and oil with no fresh flavors. I'm only SLIGHTLY hating on people that like everything fried. I do not. I LOVE OYSTERS. One of my favorite weird foods of the world. I got the oyster po boy. Bread was fresh as others say, but besides that,.....lets just say I'll never eat a po boy again. It was so bland, fried tasting, and NO ADDI TONAL SAUCE to add flavor! Only Mayo! boooooo hiisssssss. Another person in our party said the cajun shrimp pasta was super salty. GF got the muffeletta, really was kinda weak. BUT, my friends, there is a reason for you to check out Tibby's! Aside from the fun atmosphere, and decent drinks, there is one entree that was amazing. I had ONE BITE of the chicken rita(breaded chicken cutlet, some kind of wine cream sauce, and a lemon to squeeze over top) and I fell in love with it! I'm going to go back just for this entree. Mixed review I know. I don't know if after reading this I'd go, but I'm not trying to deter you from going, I actually recommend it. I think next time I go, not getting anything fried, and I'll be able to bump up my star rating to 4.

Wow! This place was awesome! They had a full house but surprisingly, we were seated immediately. Our server was very prompt and attentive. As my family and I sat down, I thought for sure it would take a long time to place our order but as soon as the greeter sat us at the table, the waitress followed soon after. Even though the house was packed!!! The food was AMAZING!

Tibby's was such a fun night out! Husband and I met my sister & her husband for dinner on a Saturday. For being located in a generic shopping plaza, Tibby's really has elevated their decor to make it feel special & unique. While waiting for our table, we had some drinks at the bar. The 16 oz frosted beer glass was calling my name so I ordered an Amber draft. We were seated within 10 minutes & ordered some appetizers. We got the BBQ Shrimp and the Fried Green Tomatoes & Crawfish. The shrimp were great but not what I thought BBQ shrimp would be. They were in a delicious, spicy broth and came with a baguette for dipping. The baguette could've been fresher but the broth helped. The fried green tomatoes were unremarkable & the fried crawfish were okay, but not really memorable. The men at the table ordered the Jambalaya, Crawfish Pie & Chicken Gumbo. The gumbo was really good but the other two items were okay at best. My sister had the Chicken & Waffle Po-Boy off the specials menu. It really wasn't a "Po-Boy" but it was delicious. It was basically a fried chicken breast with bacon on a waffle. It came with a great brandy butter dip that was incredible. I had the Shrimp & Andouille Cheddar Grits which was HANDS DOWN the best dish on the table. I don't love grits but these were so creamy and cheesy, they didn't even taste like grits. The dish was slightly spicy & creamy, salty, perfect. To finish off our meal we had the beignets. They were super fresh, hot, flaky, covered in powdered sugar. Perfect end to a very yummy meal. I gave 4 stars only because the waitress seemed to be in a hurry to turn the table. She was nice enough but seemed to be rushing us along. Other than that we had a great experience.

Excellent food, great portion sizes, and great value. The Shrimp Andouille Cheese Grits had 7 medium sized shrimp, Andouille sausage, on a bed of firm cheese grits for $13. Same price for the Crawfish Etoufee which I ate with a $3 8-Oz cup of Andouille Cheese Grits. The Root Beer Float comes in a huge goblet glass for $3 and the Bread Pudding is a quarter of a deep dish pie for $5. All the flavors are just right for the average diner; not too spicy that the flavor of the shrimp or crawfish was lost but without being bland in any way. Toby's lets their value and quality do their marketing for them. This is a place you can pig out on well-seasoned comfort food and drink for under $20. The only thing that's hard to understand is that Tijuana Flats owns this concept. I've never been impressed with that chain. The only negative was the noise inside. We chose to sit outside and that worked out well. I recommend lowering the volume on the music as the volume of people in the restaurant increases. Service was good even though they were extremely busy. This is a new must-stop for me to include when in Orlando.

This place is a hidden gem. Nestled in to the strip mall, the interior is cozy and inviting. I sat at the bar, where they have Abita on tap, not just one, but 3 different Abita brews. The bartender was friendly and informative. We had friend pickles for appetizer, and they were delicious, tart and tangy with a side of remoulade. For dinner my girlfriend and I had a po' boy and one of the specials that was fried catfish in etouffee. For dessert we had the beignets, smothered in powdered sugar. All in all, a great meal.

One of my favorite restaurants in Orlando! From the decor to the food, this place brings a piece of New Orleans to central Florida and I mean that literally! The place is decorated with pieces of mardi gras floats and jazz concert art and post Katrina doors. I couldn't be more thankful for its existence since it's the first place I've been able to go that curbs my craving without having to drive 10 hours to New Orleans to get the authentic stuff. And trust me, we've done it! I'll just list my favorite dishes, but feel free to explore the menu, I've rarely been disappointed. Apps: fried green tomatoes, fried cheese plank, seafood gumbo, chicken and andouille sausage gumbo... it's all tasty and well made. My favorite has to be the barbeque shrimp! It's so flavorful, spicy, juicy, and the perfect complement to an ice cold beer. It brings me back to the big easy instantly! It's served with a loaf of French bread and who doesn't love cleaning up a bowl of deliciousness with bread? As for my favorite entree, it has to be the shrimp and grits. It's amazing! The grits are cheesy and creamy, the sauteed onions are flavorful, the shrimp is perfectly cooked every time, and the red wine sauce is savory and rich. Yummm! I've tried the eggplant tchoupitoulas, which reminds me of eggplant parm with a spicier sauce and while its good, its not especially memorable. I prefer the eggplant parm po boy if you are vegetarian or in the mood for eggplant. I love the shrimp étouffée but my boyfriend always finds it too fishy so I avoid ordering it because we usually share meals. He would also give Tibby's 5 solid starts and would say his favorites are the chicken pontchartrain, cajun shrimp pasta, and shrimp and grits, of course! I think what sets this restaurant on par with some of the higher end restaurants on Park Ave and as one of my favorites is that Tibby's is so consistently solid. It's like they have robots working in the kitchen! I don't know how they do it because every piece of shrimp is always perfectly cooked, never slightly over or under done, and always juicy and fresh! The seasoning always brings me back to New Orleans! There are a few cons, but I'm not going to dock any stars for them because they don't prevent me from loving my experience. First, I can't help but order one of those giant frosty beer chalices filled with Abita purple haze draft. However, I feel they don't clean the pipes often because there is always this weird, slightly old and grimy taste to it that isn't inherent to the beer. By the time I finish guzzling down the chalice, this doesn't bother me as much, but I hope it gets better in the future. I have to remember to stick with bottle beers but those chalices are just so fun. My second con is that I don't enjoy any of the sides. I never find the fries cooked well and I've had much better jambalaya. I'm not sure why the sides never live up to the apps or entrees, but at this point, I just avoid ordering them. If I order a po boy, I just opt to get the full versus the half with a side. As for dessert, you have to get the beignets! I just visited cafe du monde three weeks ago, and I actually prefer the ones at Tibby's. The are lighter, smaller size bites and how can you possibly go wrong with fried dough covered in powdered sugar?! The bread pudding is also delicious, but pretty heavy, so I would stick with beignets unless you've saved a lot of room for dessert.

This review is based solely on their Super Bowl Event they hosted this year. I have never been here prior to this event but I'm sure glad I went. The super bowl event was 40 dollars per person you get your table, free cup and Mardi Gras beads. 2 types of appetizers for the first quarter, 2 types of apps for the 2nd quarter, Entree and then Dessert. If that isn't enough it was open bar until that end of the 3rd quarter. For their first time doing this they handled it quite perfectly. Enough people on staff, attentive with the drinks during open bar. Impeccable timing during the game. Atmosphere is NOLA and celebrates the history, the ups and downs of New Orleans and the people that call it home. The decor is funky much like the owners other Restaurant Tijuana Flats. The first quarter the appetizers were onion rings and fried pickles. The group loved both. For me the fried pickles were a little too salty. I think the batter had salt plus the salt of the pickle. Everyone else loved them though. This is where I had the thought that perhaps this isn't a place to go if you are restricting you salt intake or if you happen to enjoy salt but just not as much as some. The second quarter Appetizers were chicken wings and a breaded fried cheese with adorned in a red sauce. Both were good. I liked the spicy Cajun spice on the wings. A friend complained they were not saucy enough but I liked that they weren't so messy. The fried cheese plate was my brothers favorite. It tastier than your average fried mozzarella stick. For the main Entree I ordered the Seafood Gumbo and my husband had the Andouille Sausage Jambalaya. My was a hot bowl of gumbo with oysters, andouille sausage and shrimp with okra, seasoning, veggies and rice. It was very flavorful, nice body to the soup. I tried my husbands Jambalaya and loved it. The Andouille sausage was a star and it was spiced perfectly. The beignets were soft plump little pillows that rounded out the meal well. Just don't inhale the powdered sugar. They had a raffle and gave away some cool prices. The atmosphere was fun and inviting and those that choose to spend their Super Bowl there were very nice fun people. We had a great time. I'd like to go back and try some other things when I'm not so limited, but for 40 bucks and open bar, it's just such a great deal for the event. We had a very fun time. *Oh and for the record everybody was singing along with Madonna. Everybody!

Another delightful foodie trip to "New Orleans" in Orlando. Started off with fried pickles which paired nicely with the house sauce. Thayer and I shared the following dishes: baked potatoes with bacon and andouille sausage, half of the Po-Boy roast beef sandwich with a side of red beans & rice, and shrimp & andouille cheddar grits. All were flavorful and pleased the taste buds. We couldn't leave without making room for three beignets, which was covered in powdered sugar! Fortunately dessert was light and not heavy... Great customer service and we were pleased with our dishes; we left with happy tummies.

Shrimp creole was great with copious numbers of medium-large shrimp. The sauce is mild and a few shots of Tabasco helps. I suspect this is intentional for broader appeal. I chose to sit at the bar. I found myself rubber necking every time a server brought a dish to another table. The portions are a good size giving you a feeling that you're getting a good return on investment. Another gentleman at the bar ordered the Maw's Fries. He didn't realize that chunks of beef were not a part of the appetizer, but the manager was happy to send it back to the kitchen to add beef. My service was generally very courteous, although it took longer than expected for my dish to arrive. The dining area did not appear packed but the kitchen was bustling. For a return visit, the chicken and Andouille gumbo are on top of my list. I was pleased to find that they accept To-Go orders.

Went to Tibby's because I was craving some New Orleans cuisine and everyone kept saying that THIS IS the place to go. The service was great...greeted right as we came in and were seated right away. Our server was good, giving some good recommendations. I ended up ordering the fried green tomatoes with crawfish and a cup of seafood gumbo. The crawfish had too much breading on them and the breading didn't have great seasoning. The seafood gumbo was delicious with full of spices and that starchy taste. My only concern was that right after (about 20 minutes) my stomach began hurting...like a lot...so I am not sure whether it was too much seasoning or if there was something rotten in the meal. I am willing to give it another shot...maybe trying the jambalaya.

I ate a Tibby's last night with my wife and daughter. This wasn't our first visit and I have to say each time we go there the place seems to get a little worse. I will probably go back and try again because Tibby's has the potential to be a four or five star place but as it stands now, it's disappointingly standard. Our server was quick and responsive but didn't talk too much or make any recommendations; sort of like a serving robot with no personality--standard. The food was OK. The fries looked like they were cooked in old dirty oil and the bread on my po' boy tasted a bit stale--standard. There were two managers on the floor and eight tables yet somehow neither one stopped by our table--disappointing. About the food: If you're going to charge $14 for your po' boys please make sure you serve them on fresh bread. Either bake your bread in-house or have it delivered fresh daily. If Subway can manage to do it, I'm sure just about anyone can. I'll give the place another shot mainly because I had a really good experience there when they first opened but one more bad experience and I probably won't bother; Mellow Mushroom is only a few feet away.

One of my favorite restaurants in Winter Park, hands down! Tibby's has consistently been a fun (and not to mention yummy) place to bring friends and hang out. Make sure you try the po' boys and get the beignets for dessert!

I've hit here for lunch with friends several times. Service is prompt, the vibe is fun. You can head straight to the bar or wait to be seated by the hostess. It's packed by 12pm or so, so plan on arriving a bit earlier. We've enjoyed several of the Po Boys, I was looking forward to an oyster po boy, I was not disappointed. Tip: the Po Boys come with mayo, but for the authentic NOLA feel, skip that and get your oysters (or shrimp) tossed in their Remoulade sauce. Yum, that is good stuff and the way the oyster and the shrimp Po Boy's should be listed on their menu. However, I should note it is Remoulade and not Romulan, which is what one of our servers called it, though I was very tickled at the Star Trek gaffe. The "small" Po Boys are around 6" and very filling. The bread is so soft and fresh it will have you off of your no carb diet before you say "Can I get some fries with that?" Friends have ordered the Chicken Parm (huge and delish) the Ham and Cheese (great) the catfish (awesome and not fishy) and the 12 napkin roast beef (tender beef and very saucy), all have been received with raves. As I surveyed the dining room, the lunch special of the po boy and a side are extremely popular and a great deal. Regular fries top the sweet potato fries, which seem to be missing something. I dipped them in the Tibbys "hot" sauce (Zippy and horseradishy, not Cayenne pepper hot) and they were better...but still. As if that isn't enough to fill you up, we can vouch for the fried pickles and the cheese slab apps. Don't ask, just order one of them. Or both. The beignets are yummy, but not the way I remember them if you want an "Authentic" beignet. Oddly enough, they were all gone by the time we left the table ;). Small order is 3, which our table of 4 cut in quarters so we didn't feel so gluttonous. We'll be back for dinner to try some of the other offerings off of the vast menu...or just another po boy. Dang, they are good!

The restaurant is loud, fun, and bustling with the energy of a New Orleans parade. Tried several delicious delicacies this time around: Appetizers; Fried Pickles, Cajun Kettle Wings (spicy but not hot), and Eggplant Sticks. Dinner; Crawfish pie with a side of Cheddar Grits. And for desert Beignets, we had 3 but you can have 7. I have to tell you EVERYTHING WAS GREAT! Service, presentation, and taste. To top it off the manager popped by and made sure we enjoyed our stay. We will be back many more times for sure!

Growing up in Louisiana really spoils you as far as food goes. It is pretty much impossible to find anything close to cajun food once you cross the state line on interstate 10. When people suggest cajun places to me it is hard to stifle an eye roll. It pretty much never turns out well. With that out of the way, I must say I was pleasantly surprised by Tibby's. Everything I have had from the bbq shrimp to the hurricanes were very good. For those who like things spicy (like me), you can always ask for some extra kick in your dish. Although the crawfish etouffe wasn't quite as spicy as I am used to, it was still delicious. It was even better on my second visit with some extra cayenne. Finally, I must admit that the beignets were right up there with Cafe DuMonde. Very very tasty. The service was excellent. The staff was prompt and friendly. The prices very also reasonable too. Nothing worse than when you end up spending a ton of money for stuff that doesn't taste remotely close to cajun food. Overall, I really enjoyed Tibby's and I will definitely head back. As someone else said, there are some places back home that are better and many more that are definitely worse. But, unless you are willing to drive about 12 hours to get to New Orleans, you definitely won't find better Cajun food in Orlando than Tibbys.

Frigging' Yummy. Just had an awesome experience at Tibby Creole Kitchen! Food was amazing and the staff was amazing. Can't wait to go and and try some more food. We had the Beinville Salad to start and share. Yummy with blackberries. So good. Hubby had sampler of Jambalaya, Chicken pie and a gumbo. Spicy and delicious. I had Rita's Chicken. Psnko crusted chicken with lemon sauce over yummy dirty rice. So good. Can't wait to eat it again tomorrow. We were so stuffed but ordered benigets for breakfast with our morning coffee tomorrow! Can't wait.

This was, by far, the best meal at a restaurant we've had since we relocated to Orlando. The wait staff was super nice & everyone from the oldest to the youngest enjoyed their meal. We even indulged in Hurricanes and fried pickles. I will definitely be returning for another visit.

I went there for lunch. I started off the meal with their signature onion rings. Simply fabulous. I had their half and half po'boy sanwich. Half fried shrimp and the other half fried oysters. The shrimp and oysters were cooked just right and the bread was not too dry, my father had "Shrimp Casserole" their take on shrimp and grits, he ate the whole thing. I had a taste, and is something I will order when I go back. Great atmosphere for a place that is in a strip mall.

This is my favorite restaurant in Winter Park. For starters, the service is excellent. Our orders were taken promptly and we didn't have to wait long for drinks or food. Even on busy nights. The server also was very informative in pointing out new food/drinks to try. The food is really good. I have tried many other restaurant's versions of gumbo and jambalaya. None come close to Tibby's. I started off with a cup of the seafood gumbo, which had a generous portion of shrimp and oysters. I added a few drops of the Tibby's hot sauce and was good to go. For the main course, I had the jambalaya. Once again, there was a generous amount of chicken and andouille sausage. It was one of the best cajun meals I have had outside the state of LA. For desert, try the beignets. You get a fairly large portion for what you pay and they are also really good here.

My family and I have been in love with Tibby's for a long time now. I can honestly say that we have yet to find anything on the menu that was not delicious. The service was fantastic the waiters and waitresses that we have had have always been genuinely happy and cheerful. Which to us makes the experience all the better. After asking several different waitresses on SEVERAL different visits we have settled into our favorites routine. For an appetizer our favorite is the Onion Rings a generous portion to feed well up to five or more people depending on how you share. Our favorite entrée would have to be the Rita's Chicken this dish has breaded chicken breast with a lemon sauce to die for, its not spicy but its just an amazingly light lemon taste, and it rests on dirty rice. This dirty rice is really fantastic just the right amount of spice to let you appreciate it but not enough to disable your taste buds for the duration of the meal. Our dessert of choice is the Beignets with the brandy sauce from their bread pudding. You have to ask for the brandy sauce for a side but its well worth it. The beignets are good on their own and come with a huge amount of powder sugar. It is highly recommended that you do not inhale while you bite into one or you will shower your table mates with white powder. So overall worth the visit, its dark and loud but the experience is well worth it. Sets the mood and we love the experience every time.

Date night, girls night, Saints football night, whatever the reason, Tibby's is great. I've waited forever for a New Orleans style eatery to open in the area and Tibby's definitely was worth the wait. They have a full liquor bar (get the King cake martini, you won't regret it) and delicious food. What more can you ask for? Everyone in my party was happy with their food. I ordered the shrimp po-boy and it didn't disappoint. We finished off with beignets for dessert. They were like fried air pillows sprinkled in sugar Yummy!

We planned to dine at Tibbys on New Years Eve and I was delighted to find that we were seated right away, no wait whatsoever. For an establishment so highly spoken of, that was quite a surprise. We arrived during happy hour and even though they were doing a brisk business, our drinks arrived promptly. I split an order of the alligator and crawfish cheesecake with a friend and it was out of this world amazing. Sort of like a hot savory dip and less like, you know, an actual cheesecake (my friend actually had that specific concern). The only thing that would have made it better is if it were served with some crusty bread or pita chips or something ...dippable. It's a rather rich concoction to dig into with just a fork! My main course was the shrimp, andouille and cheddar grits and for someone who kind of hates grits, well, that totally changed my mind. Creamy and slightly tangy from the cheese, with generous bits of perfectly spiced sausage and briny shrimp throughout. I would order this again and again. I might never try anything else on the menu. My companion had an eggplant dish which was fairly tasty, but to be perfectly honest, nothing could have topped those grits. I will probably have dreams about them, they were just that incredible. For happy hour drinks, an appetizer and two main courses, the bill was around $65, including tip. I wouldn't call this an inexpensive meal but it was certainly a treat, and very much worth it.

I went to Tibby's with my husband and Mother-In-Law on a Saturday evening, and we all thoroughly enjoyed it! It's located in a strip mall, so from the outside it doesn't look like much. But once inside, you are greeted by fun décor and a lively, yet cozy atmosphere. We came later in the evening, so we didn't have to wait for a table, and were seated immediately. Husband and I both ordered a Hurricane drink, and MIL opted to try the Sazerac (Jim Beam, Absinthe, suger & bitters). The Hurricanes were good, but be warned they pack a punch. The Sazerac was...different. Don't think any of us would order it again, but it was fun to try something new. For a starter we shared the New Orleans Cheese Plank. It was basically like a Cajun style cheese stick. We all thought it was delicious - especially the Creole sauce that it came with. For the main course, MIL ordered the half Muffuletta, which was huge! Husband had a cup of Andouille Sausage Jambalaya and a cup of Red Beans and Rice. I had the Shrimp and Andouille Cheddar Grits. All of us thought our entrées were excellent! The cheddar grits alone were to die for! For dessert we shared the Beignets. They were a perfect ending to the meal. I've never been to New Orleans, so I can't really rate the authenticity of Tibby's, but my tastebuds would definitely recommend going there! I look forward to going back there myself to try some other things from the menu.

Really worth.the 20 mile trip from the Disney area. We had Rita's Chicken and Shrimp with grits and it's one of the yummiest dinners we had on vacation. Heir signature drink "the Hurricane" is so so. Service was great. Beignets and Bread pudding a must have. Wear comfy clothes and just plan another workout!!

Tibby's was just what we needed to celebrate upcoming Fat Tuesday and satisfy my N'Awlins craving! It's been on my list for so long I'd almost forgotten about it. The restaurant is small and casual with loud creole style artwork on the walls. Before we even got drinks four servers had offered to help us. I guess we were at shift change and there was some confusion about who would be helping us. Too much help is better than not enough! We got there right at the start of happy hour and indulged in a couple of Abitas for $3. The beer was HUGE and served in a thick frosty goblet. For $9 I got half a sandwich and a side. I went for Tibby's shrimp po'boy (the Tibby's version has rémoulade sauce) with a side of Andouille sausage cheese grits. Man, what a good looking meal! There were so many deliciously seasoned and sauced shrimp they spilled out of the perfectly crusted bread. The lettuce and tomato were fresh and cold. The cheese grits were extremely cheesy and tasted like they are made with heavy whipping cream. They were good but a bit under seasoned. We splurged and tried the beignets and bread pudding. What goes better with beignets than a cafe au lait? The bread pudding was good with a hint of rum. The beignets were a little too dense but still tasty. Overall a great experience and definitely someplace I'll come back to!

I miss New Orleans. I am so glad this place is here. On my last visit I shared appetizers with my friends. The Shrimp and Alligator Cheesecake was yummy. It sounds weird but it was good - Get it. I think they have the best fried pickles in town. You can't go wrong with the fried green tomatoes and oyster remoulade as well. For the main dishes, oyster po-boy and Chicken Pontchartrain are good solid choices. If you plan to go on a Friday evening, make reservations, even if you plan on getting an early dinner. Friday seems to be kind of busy for them. Oh, and the music takes me back to hanging out a Jazz Fest in New Orleans. I love the vibe.

Been here about 6 or 7 times. Love the look and feel of the place and that you can get a nice Abita draft in a frozen schooner mug! Food is just OK but is 3 stars at least. Some of the PoBoys are a little skimpy and the bread isn't NOLA style french bread but probably good enough for most folks. Kinda pricey too for what you get. I do like the fact they seem to be tweaking the recipes before they open more locations. Keep in mind I lived NOLA for almost a decade so I am more picky than most when it comes to this style of food. Can't be that bad I keep coming back right?

Went here for lunch and had a bunch of appetizers and an entree (yes I was stuffed when we left). The fried pickles were awesome! The Shrimp and Grits amazing! Top that off with a friendly and prompt staff and what's not to like ... oh did I mention the beignets?

Dear Tibby, I wanted to fall in love with you; really I did. From the moment I first found out you existed, I awaited in eager anticipation, especially since crooked bayou in downtown had been taken from me, and I was desperate for a substitute. I bookmarked you on a Tuesday, and schedule you in big, bold, letters in both my work and home calendars, counting down the days to eat that delicious, "authentic" Louisiana food. Saturday evening came and I burst through the double doors, smile in place as I marveled at all the decor, and was greeted warmly, but then after we sat down and I ordered the fried pickles, everything seemed to go downhill from there. The menu should say, "handful of pickles" cause that is all I got. Despite this, I was hopeful for the main course, it would get better; I knew it would, especially after all the fantastic reviews you got Tibby, but I was again disappointed when I sunk my teeth into my oyster po'boy and crunched down on a shell piece... YUCK!!!! And.. no flavor, even with the remoulade sauce that masked the taste of the seafood. What did I do to deserve this Tibby? Even your Beignets were greasy, and took 25 minutes to get to my table, it took longer than the food did!! *sigh* I wanted to love you Tibby, but I just don't think it's gonna work out... Sincerely, Your Lost Love

Why haven't I been here before? Sunday Brunch was fun and loud w/ a live band playing cajun zydeco. LOVED it but it's loud so do not plan to have a warn heart to heart during band music. Friendly, fast and helpful staff. Flexible while I waited for my incomplete party. I began the meal w/ a side of fried oysters (not the appetizer b/c they are tossed in remoulade) Excellent, great flavor. Next time I plan to try the onion rings. They look iconic. My entree was the new Catfish Lizzy which I cannot rave enough about. Crispy catfish w/ a sauce over rice. spicy and flavorful. exactly what I was in the mood for! I also tasted my friend's order of andouille gumbo and a few other bites and everything was good. Finished up w/ the bread pudding and beignets. didn't disappoint! Loved the vibe and the NO decor. a good place to eat.

If you are looking for New Orleans/ Cajun style food in Orlando, look no further. Located in a strip mall off Aloma next to The Draft house in Winter Park the decor looks like Mardi Gras meets bar grille. I ordered the sampler, Jambalaya, Crawfish Pie and Chicken File Soup. All three were delicious! Great food. Happy hour is 4-6.

I'm not sure which is better: Rita's Chicken or a Shrimp Po Boy with all of the fixings. This place is such fun and so good! The service can be a little slow- on a few occasions the manager has come over to apologize but considering the smaller size of the restaurant and the tons of people trying to get in you almost expect it. Just writing this makes me want to go to Tibby's for dinner.

We finally made it to Tibby's. Twice. If you're in the mood for onion rings take an army. This platter of giant rings couldn't have been more conspicuous if they'd set them on fire. People will turn and look. The rings were okay, but were really almost too large to enjoy. For entrees we ordered 1/2 an Oyster Po' Boy with a side of potato salad and the Shrimp Etouffee. Served on quality bread with a generous amount of plump, tender oysters, the Po' Boy was the day's winner. In fact, it was so good we wished we'd ordered a whole one and skipped the potato salad. The Shrimp Etouffee had potential but fell short due to an undercooked roux. For round two we opted for a Muffuletta, the Seafood Gumbo and a side of Red Beans and Rice. Like the Po' Boy, the Muffuletta was a quality sandwich. We found half a sandwich was enough for 2; the giant roll was filled with a substantial amount of choice meat and cheese. The requisite olive salad was incredibly flavorful; we would have loved a little more. The Seafood Gumbo was disappointing from a value standpoint. While more flavorful than the Etouffee, we failed to find any of the advertised oysters and found only 3 small shrimp. For $9.75 a bowl we expected more substance. We ended with the Red Beans and Rice. Try as we might we're unable to find something positive to say about this dish. We found no evidence of the holy trinity, and if we didn't know better we could easily have mistaken them for canned beans. We'd hoped for more personality from our Cajun favorites. When at Tibby's, we think sandwiches are the way to go.

I tried them for lunch one Saturday, with my daughters. We started off with the fried cheese. It was a pepperjack cheese with a roumelade sauce. It was kind of small, for the price, but it was very tasty, as was the sauce. I ordered the shrimp po' boy and substituted onion rings for the fries. The rings were huge and I got a roumelade sauce to dip them . The shrimp Po'Boy was also very good. The creole mayo added a nice touch to the fried shrimp and yummy bread. My veggie daughter ordered the eggplant Po'Boy, which she thought was delicous and flavorful. I did not try that. The only bad part was that they did not return my credit card and I had to go back and pick it up, after doing some shopping. Luckily it wasn't far away.

Great customer service and good food! The shrimp and grits are yummy! The red beans and rice with sausage is also very good!

"That was freaking awesome!" says Chef! This was some seriously good New Orleans style food and the best beignets I've had outside of Cafe duMonde. We had a large party that went for lunch on Saturday and we were all quite pleased with our food and service. Chris took great care of us! The Tibby's shrimp poboy was delicious and the remoulade sauce was perfect! The shrimp and grits plate was nearly licked clean and the kid enjoyed her fried pickles and shrimp as well. We ordered 2 family size plates of beignets for dessert and they were all gone... quickly! They have a great selection of Abita beers on tap and served it in the best frosty goblet ever. Good stuff! And I hear they will be adding a location in the Sand Lake area too! See you there.

This is one of my new favorites. I think at this point I've been there 7 or 8 times and I've never been disappointed. I love the 1/2 oyster po boy with a schooner of Purple Haze and sweet potato fries--it's even served on a real baguette instead of the horrible hoagie buns other local places use. The gumbo got the stamp of approval from my step father who is from Covington, LA (even though he gets the rice on the side because they put too much in), the fried pickles are good if not a tad salty, and the onion rings are ridiculous in size. The barbecue shrimp were delicious and authentic. The shrimp etoufee was the only dish I haven't particularly cared for. Sunday with the live music was a blast, the beignets are better than the last time I was at Cafe du Monde and the bread pudding had a great flavor even though I'm not a fan of raisins. I'm giving it 5 stars because I love the loud and flashy inside, every time I go the oysters are cooked well, the service is attentive and friendly, and the prices are reasonable (for the most part--the oyster po boy seems to be inching up cent by cent). I can't wait for them to open a new location!

Oh, Tibby's, where have you been all my life?!? I've only been to Tibby's once but I can't wait to go back! We had great service and the food and drinks were superb. Their Bloody Marys and Hurricanes are always $5 (not bad) so I, being the Bloody Mary lover that I am, got one of those and my friend got a Hurricane. They were both fantastic and the Mary comes with okra...yum! We started with fried pickles, which were scrumptious (although a little salty as fried pickles go), as was the sauce that came with them. I then got eggplant tchoupitoulas (chop-it-too-luhs) and my friend got the 1/2 muffaletta. The eggplant tchoupitoulas (I love saying that) was amazing. It's kind of like a cajun veggie lasagna that uses eggplant slices in place of pasta (see my photo). My friend loved her muffaletta as well. both were big portions and we both had leftovers. The only complaint my friend had was that their black beans were pretty crappy. I'm sure they would have taken them back but she didn't even tell me until after we left that she didn't like them. Can't wait to try their shrimp and grits! (Hopefully I can get it without the sausage)

I was pretty disappointed with my experience here. The decor screams "we're going to turn this place into a chain". Not very appealing to me at all. The service started out well, but as they got busier our server kind of disappeared. As for the food itself, I'd heard that it was very authentic, which I hope isn't true. I ordered the half Shrimp Po'Boy and Andouille Sausage Grits. I was expecting lots of flavor and spice. What I got was a whole bunch of blandness. To be fair, some of the people at my table did order items with some spiciness, like the Blackened Chicken Po'Boy. I guess I picked the wrong dish. Oh well. The only saving grace for me were the beignets. They are pillows of doughy awesomeness.

If Tijuana Flats and the Crooked Bayou got really drunk, hooked up and had a bastard kid (bastard because Crooked Bayou is gone now) - it might look something like this once it grew up. It definitely wasn't what I was expecting, but I really liked Tibby's. This is more of a sit down restaurant, but it channels a lot of the vibe from its Tijuana Flats parentage (they're owned by the same parent company). We went in about a week or so after they had first opened - still in soft launch. The place was packed and we had to wait a few minutes to be seated. We were given a pager. I couldn't hear it clearly due to the noise in the restaurant, but the pager actually talks when it goes off. I want to go back and wait again just so I can try to hear what it says. While we waited, we overheard one of the hostesses speaking to another customer. They explained that the vegetables were fried separate oil than the fish to avoid crossing flavors as much as possible. Definite points for that. The menu is pretty much what we expected; po boys, gumbo, jambalaya, etouffee, muffaletta, beignets and bread pudding were all on the menu. We ordered the etouffee, an oyster po'boy and some sweet potato fries. Both were delicious. The po'boy comes in two sizes: half and full. The half is a little small, but the full is too much food. You're better off getting the "Side and a Half" which includes a side item and half of a po-boy (big surprise, I know. I never would have guessed with a name like that). The only disappointment here was the sweet potato fries which were just bland and unseasoned. Nothing some sea salt didn't fix. The service here was polished to a level that proved that they had been well trained before the restaurant opened. They had only been open for about a week, but everything was running smoothly. Prices here are a little on the high side. For your best value, I'd go with the Side and a Half. I'd be pretty happy if Tibby's expanded into a full chain, but I still wouldn't go nearly as often as we go to Tijuana Flats.

Wow. Absolutely awesome. A true shock to the senses from the moment you walk in the door and every aspect of it is truely great. The decor is lively and colorful, bur more importantly sticks to the theme of the place, the music matched much the same. The wait staff was friendly and helpful giving very solid recommendations off the menu. The drink specials were pleasant and they make a hell of a mint julep. I had a combo plate with a crawfish pie, jambalaya, and "creole potato salad" all of which was amazing. Very freshly cooked spiced just right and a hell of a meal for about $12. Worth the ride if your in the orlando area.

My first experience at Tibby's was excellent. We were seated immediately, but I can see constant wait times becoming an issue as soon as more people discover this place. The decor is interesting, with tons of colorful and seemingly authentic artifacts from New Orleans. Aside from the items on the walls, the art direction is incredible. Rumor has it that Tibby's is founded by the same folks who brought Tijuana Flats to Orlando and, later, the world. It also appears they have the same artist/designer from Tijuana Flats on hand. The atmosphere is... jubilant. (edit: I swear I didn't subconsciously appropriate reviewer Drew's adjective. I challenge you to go to Tibby's and try to think of any other word to describe the mood.) I have no idea why, but there's a rolling thunder of noise. There were only two parties while I was there, but I think the high ceilings create a gymnasium effect. The noise is off-putting at first but it's not bad enough that you can't hear anyone at your own table. The appetizers are interesting. I ordered fried eggplant sticks and they were perfect-- slightly undercooked as a 'stick' should be, with a great dipping marinara. I wanted to try a real entree but only ordered a sandwich, because THEY HAVE MUFFALETTAS! It's dang near impossible to find muffalettas now that Crooked Bayou is dead. The sandwich came to the table looking amateurish. The olive salad was chunkier than I've seen elsewhere and the whole thing looked too clean. But the bread was perfectly soft and oily and the meat was 100 percent lean. This turned out to be one of the best muffalettas I've ever consumed, and I'm sure it would even make Chef Paul Prudhomme proud. "Half" of a muffaletta was still huge, and I brought half of the half home. My girlfriend had shrimp creole and she was happy with the portion and taste. She said it was perfect, but I wouldn't expect anyone to mess up this kind of simple dish. Beignets were a fun dessert. Very doughy on the inside, not too flaky on the outside. Wonderful service. They overstaff and our waiter only worked two or three tables. He was personable without being creepy. My sandwich plus girlfriend's entree plus appetizer plus order of three beignets = $29 before tip. Very affordable. These people know how to create a concept, and with Tibby's they did an awesome job graduating from counter service to full service. Get ready for the franchise deluge.

RITA'S CHICKEN!!!!! This place is phenomenal. My first experience of Cajun food came from Tibby's 3 years ago and I haven't looked back since. The Po Boys, Dirty Rice, and Gumbo are all excellent... BUT the Rita's Chicken is one of my all time favorite dishes. Breaded chicken breast with a creamy lemon butter sauce served over dirty rice=heaven on a plate! Also do not leave without a Beignet(I tried to spell it correctly), they are to die for!

R-I-D-I-C-U-L-O-U-S-L-Y good! Everything from the fries and gravy, boudin balls, crawfish casserole, to the cat fish and grits was amazing. Not to mention the hurricane drinks were so strong they could have walked across the bar by themselves! Went with a group of 7 and had a great time. I'll be back for sure!

Based on two visits, Tibby's is close to greatness but they have some work to do. 1/2 muffuleta sandwich covered an entire plate, and was enough for two adults by itself. Unfortunately, the olive tapenade was too salty, and overwhelmed the other flavors. My server misheard me (it's LOUD in there) and brought me a what they call a half-and-half po-boy, which is half shrimp, and half oysters, instead of what I wanted which was half of a po-boy with a cup of gumbo. Not a big deal, and the hoagie was gigantic and delicious. Cajun pasta was tasty and fine for less adventurous diner in our group. On a recent visit I was looking forward to trying a full-size portion of the seafood gumbo. It was a nice size portion of gumbo, LOADED with shrimp and oysters and big chunks of okra, topped with two blue crab legs. This bowl had nice texture and flavors, however it was only barely above room temp. The manager quickly replaced it with a fresh batch that was much hotter, however this batch was much thinner and flavors less concentrated. And the blue crab leg meat was mealy and stringy, not good. The crawfish etoufee, however, was outstanding. The roux was rich and concentrated, and was chock full of tasty crawfish meat. The fried eggplant tenders app that we tried was tasty, with a nice dipping sauce, but the breading was over-wrought and heavy and obscured the eggplant flavor. Service was great on both visits, earnest and friendly. The live band on our last visit was a nice touch, and their sound levels were perfectly adjusted so we could still hear each other talk and enjoy the music. A nice touch that is easy to overlook. So Tibby's, step your game up. A little more fine tuning and you could be added to the (unfortunately) very short list of culinary gems in this town.

We've been here several times, both on date nights and with my sons, ages 7 and 4. Consistently great food (save room for the most amazing beignets anywhere) and the atmosphere is always great. It's casual and energetic and loud and gauche -- it's the perfect New Orleans place!

Went for Mardi Gras. It was super busy with live entertainment. We have been many times before, but this was not our best experience. The service was mediocre. Our server said they ran out of beads for the kids (at 5:30). The Hurricanes were very sweet, no alcohol discernible, and our second drink did not arrive until our meal was finished. The food was good as always. We had fried pickles and fried green tomato/catfish appetizers. Both were crispy and delicious. The bbq shrimp was very tasty as was the shrimp and grits and crawfish etoufee. We will definitely return because all of our other visits have been very enjoyable. I think this was just an off night.

The first thing I noticed when I walked in the door was the liveliness of the decore and patrons. I found my party, sat and ordered a draft. The draft came in a huge cold thick goblet styled glass. The glass kept the beer nicely cooled through out dinner. I started with the fried green tomato's, which were good, not great. Ordered the Eggplant Tchoupitoulas for dinner which was surprisingly very good. And finished with the beignets. I loved the fact the beignets were much bigger than Cafe Du Monde's. As with any regionally inspired foods, you need to go there to get the real deal. But Tippys is very close. I've had better and also worse in New Orleans. All in all a good meal for a decent price.

We are continuing our exploration of Orlando area restaurants since moving to the area a little over a year ago. Tibby's was our next try (40 minute ride from home) and were a little disappointed after all the glowing reviews. We (wife, two adult daughters and me) have to say the food is good but not overwhelming. Solid fare. Service was excellent. Ambiance was as if someone put together a Mardi Gras in their basement - very Old Time Pottery décor. Pricing was Ok - about $100 for dinner, dessert and drinks. Adult drink prices are reasonable. The problem was portion size. I was left feeling hungry after my dinner. I had the combo which was a small splatter of jambalaya(very dry Andouille), a small Crawfish pie that was all crust and a cup of Gumbo, which was the best part of the meal - lots of chicken and flavor. My wife had Chicken Pontrachain which was a large portion and tasted good though not overwhelming, but was $15 and no sides. One daughter had Shrimp Etoufee which tasted good but a little small as she finished it and hardly even finishes a meal out. My other daughter had a Crawfish Po' Boy which had good flavor but was small and on some really bad bread that may have come from WalMart (if they used a GOOD Portuguese roll, it would have been really nice -then again we can only find good bread around here at Olde Hearth and they don't make Portuguese bread)) even for a half portion and a cup of dirty rice , which was average. The Beignets were pure grease and way too much sugar; the bread pudding was just ok but needed maybe a thicker sauce. I do recommend the smaller portions and add your sides or cups to make your meal as this seems to be the best bargain and way to get all the flavors. BTW, I do have to agree with the location is very loud. Overall I have to give them a passing grade (really 2 1/2 stars) but noting they are just passing and should do a little extra-curricular homework/project to bring up that grade. We may visit eventually again but will probably opt to try the local Cajun eatery next before going back.

I love this place!! Colorful, fun and the food is to die for. My favorite, chicken Pontchartrain with dirty rice... yum!! and the grits... oh my!. Generous portions, fabulous drinks, great service. We had my husband's birthday party in the room in the back and they were very organized, and very kind to let us bring and serve the cake. You must visit this restaurant!!

I was excited to try this place. Huge fan of creole food and ever since Jockamos on John Young disappeared i've been extremely disappointed. I refuse to write negative reviews based on one experience, so i recently completed my 3rd dining experience (i've had two different po'boys and the shrimp creole). Overall comment: i enjoy creole spice which to me is spicy (hot) with a salty backbone. The dishes i've had lack creole spice resulting in the application of excessive amounts of hot sauce onto to my dishes. Po-Boy(s): the bread was stale and the protein was almost non-existent. The price was way too expensive ($14 for a half oyster half crawfish); should have been about $8. The remoulade (which i paid extra for by the way) was subpar. Shrimp Creole: the rice was overcooked, shrimp were lacking and the creole spice was absent. I really want to like the food here but have been disappointed. That being said, i will give it another try simply because i enjoy creole food.

Having just come back from New Orleans on my first trip to Tibby's, I was definitely impressed. Is it Brennan's? No. But is it delicious and rightly priced? Heck yeah it is. My wife and I shared the muffaletta on our second visit. It wasn't on par with the one we had gotten at Frank's, but it was also the best one I've had in Orlando. And it's a lot closer than Decataur Street. I posted the picture of the shrimp grits with andouille on this page. It was so rich and delicious. Same with the beignets. Are they Cafe Du Monde? No, they are not. But are they delicious and worth ordering? yep! I hear that the same company that started Tijuana Flats also started Tibby's. Whether true or not, you can definitely see the similarities in their style and setup. I love Tijuana Flats. Ironically, I love Tibby's too. Maybe that company is on to something. p.s. - great place to bring the kids too.

I am a Cajun, therefore I am very picky about eating Cajun food outside of the "walls" of South Louisiana. I know everyone makes Jambalaya differently, personally I prefer the way that I cook it which is how you would find it in my hometown of Gonzales La. which is known as the Jambalaya Capital of the World. With that being said, I didn't have high expectations for this dish and I was right. It was a tomato based recipe and had no flavor! I got the Crawfish pie and the File' Gumbo with it. The crawfish pie tasted nothing but fish, it was not very good. The Gumbo was probably the best of the three items and it wasn't that fabulous. I thought maybe because the owners of Tijuana Flats were opening this restuarant that it would be pretty decent, however I was not impressed. Very dissappointing and I can stay home and cook this food 1000 times better.

This place is amazing. Food, decor, service, drinks, everything! I came in this afternoon to take out lunch and dinner for myself and decided to have a drink at the bar as well. I was greeted by a young lady who gladly showed me to the bar and made me feel very welcome. The bartender immediately came over to serve me and let me know about the drink specials. I chose a $5 hurricane, which was very, very tasty. I went home and had my fried shrimp po boy. The bread was nice and fresh, the shrimp were cooked and fried to perfection and the sauce was delicious. For dinner I had crawfish étouffée. I wasn't expecting it to be all that great since I had to heat it up in the microwave after leaving it in the fridge for a few hours, but it tasted like it had just come straight from the kitchen at the restaurant. It ended up being some of the best étouffée I've ever had. I will definitely be returning to Tibby's to enjoy the atmosphere, friendly service, and most of all, the great food & drink.

I'm from New Orleans and I like their food. This is new because although it seems easy, no other restaurant in this area has been able to do that in the 10+ years I have lived in Orlando. King Cajun crawfish on Mills has better po-boys, but you can't beat the atmosphere of Tibby's! It is very expensive by New Orleans standards for the same food though.

The other day the wife and I met up with a friend for dinner. Our original plan was to attend a special event at Oblivion. But, when we realized there was a 1hr 45 min wait to be seated, we headed to Tibby's, as it had been FOREVER since any of us had been there. I want to like Cajun food. I have had some food in Louisiana that I absolutely loved, and I guess that set the bar high. But I'll get to the food in a moment. First, we arrived on a Saturday early evening. It was SLAMMED! And we brought our 2-week old baby with us. Don't worry, we are good parents. The hostess and staff were incredibly friendly and went out of their way to amke sure we had a table that would allow us to put the car seat in a chair, safely. Our server was nice, funny and very attentive. Always a plus. I ordered an appetizer of friend green tomatoes and crawfish, and my friend Peter got fried pickles. Both came out quickly and were very good. I think I actually liked his pickles more than my tomatoes, but the crawfish were awesome. For main dish I ordered the standard seafood gumbo and Peter ordered a blackened chicken dish. Just so you don't think my wife starved, she's vegan and had already eaten a light snack, so she just munched on plain fries..quite happily I'll add. The food was..good. I am always overwhelmed with what to order at places like this. I wanted to get a specialty dish, but we are trying to save a bit of money. The gumbo was tasty. I think I was just in the mood for something else. Next time I go there, I am going with my gut, regardless of price. OH! and I forgot to mention we arrived at happy hour. Being a New Orleans/Louisiana-themed restaurant, they had 18oz Abita draft beers for $3. Umm yes please! Lastly- be prepared to have to speak loudly and/or yell. This place is always busy and very loud. But, it's a GREAT atmosphere and the food and staff make up for the noise. I can't wait to go back and get something I KNOW I'll enjoy!

This place never stops amazing me. We come here all the time for football Sunday (Who Dat) and the food is always amazing. THEN my sister had her rehearsal dinner there tonight and the two most amazing servers took care of us. They brought in their OWN decorations to help the night be even more special. Victoria and Katie are some of the greatest service staff I have ever encountered. The entire staff including the manager "G" took care of all of our needs and continued to amaze us. This place is a must visit, for the food, drinks and atmosphere. I love this place and I know you are going to as well.

Our server Katie was super nice and really seems to love working here! We couldn't have asked for a better server! The atmosphere is amazing as well! It really had the New Orleans feel to it! I can't wait to eat here again! Love love love this little place!

Do you guys remember "The Chris Farley" show on SNL from way back in the day? Basically, he'd interview a celebrity but ask them non-questions ("Do you remember when you were in The Beatles?" to Paul McCartney). Whenever he'd mess up during the interview, he'd slap his head really hard and yell, "STUPID! STUPID!" That's exactly how I feel right now when I realized that I had been eating at Tibby's for over a year now and haven't reviewed it yet. So, yeah, I've been eating at Tibby's for various dinners and brunches for a while now at both locations. I visited New Orleans once when I was a teenager, so I'm not sure if I'm really an expert regarding authentic Cajun food, but what Tibby's serves seems about right. I usually get a half po boy and a side. You can get a full sized po boy if you want, but one half is pretty gigantic on its own, so you could save the other half for lunch or something. I recommend Walter's Spicy Southern Club Po Boy and the Cajun Sausage Po Boy with either dirty rice or andoulle & cheddar grits because if you're going to eat Cajun food, don't get something basic like French fries as your side. Ever had fried pickles? No, seriously, they're pretty good. Get some as your appetizer and munch on them while you wait for your main course. The muffuletta spring rolls are also a good starter. If you're not in the mood for a po boy, I highly recommend the Who Dat Cajun Blackened Chicken. The chicken is delicious and seasoned perfectly and the house made lemon butter sauce that blankets the dish is something that I want on everything from now on. The Cajun Shrimp Pasta and Seafood Gumbo are also great dishes. The Winter Park location is a little smaller than the Altamonte one but it never feels cramped. The decor is total goofy New Orleans themed stuff (in a good way). The staff are always friendly, and they're very patient when describing Cajun dishes to newbies. Both locations have been pretty busy in the times that I've gone, so take that as a sign that they're doing something right. The food is amazing, the prices are fair, and the decor is cool. Go. Please. Eat dinner at Tibby's. Or do brunch. Or both. Seriously. They're awesome.

Somehow I'd never made it to Tibby's during my many food adventures. My friend suggested it while we were discussing where to grab lunch and I jumped on the chance to try it for the first time. It was pouring rain per usual on a summer afternoon in Orlando, and our server was kind enough to bring us extra napkins to dry off with. I took a glance at the menu and was overwhelmed by how many items I wanted to order! We decided to order the potato skins with andouille sausage as an appetizer. After we put that order in we also asked for the fried pickles. Potato skins were amazing, especially with the remoulade dipping sauce. The fried pickles sadly weren't my favorite. They were extremely salty even with the dipping sauce to cut it down with. I don't think I'd order them again and save the room in my stomach for some other culinary masterpiece. Speaking of. The chicken and waffle poboy. Yep. Who thought of such a thing?! The waffle was great, the chicken crispy, and sweet potato fries delicious. The only thing I didn't like was the sauce on it and on the side. Holy straight bourbon! It seemed like it hadn't been cooked down to remove the stinging taste of alcohol. I only ate half of my meal due to the 2 appetizers and it was just as good for lunch the next day after I threw it in the oven and poured some Aunt Jemima on top! Next time I visit Tibby's I will make sure to save room for the beignets. They looked amazing and I heard them say they get the mix from Café Du Monde!

Tibby's... I really want to like you more. I wish I could give you 3.5. The decor gives it a great New Orleans feel. They have awesome paintings all along the wall and on the ceiling. I always wonder though why the big black curtains are always down so the place is dark inside. The service is great both times I've been here. I have come with large parties and they give are very quick in accommodating a table that there is usually no wait. So why 3 stars? Well I have been to New Orleans and the food is awesome there but in this particular place the things I have ordered so far haven't knocked the socks off of me. I got the gumbo the first time I came and then Rita's chicken during their lunch special the second time. I thought the chicken itself was mediocre. It was drenched in lemon butter sauce that I wish they had taken easy on. The dirty rice was was the best part of the meal. It was flavorful and had little pieces of sausage or some sort of meat in it. I will probably go back if I'm part of a large group again and this place is chosen. Maybe I just haven't ordered the "right" thing.

When you walk into this restaurant you get a comfortable New Orleans feel. The restaurant is filled with unique and eye catching art. But that's just the beginning. The cuisine is real New Orleans style food! You won't be disappointed. The sweet potato fries are addicting. The Po-Boy sandwiches are huge and mouth watering. But my favorite hands down is the Cajun Chicken pasta! It is moist spicy blackened chicken and pasta with an amazing sauce and other delicious ingredients! The prices are good and the customer service is amazing. The whole staff makes you feel welcomed without over doing it! And maintains clean and up kept tables. And they never fail to surprise you with an amazing time ! It's not only a good food experience !

I cannot say enough about how awesome the shrimp and grits are here. They are amazing!! Even being from South Ga, I was never a big grits fan until these came into my life. Now, it's the only thing I order there. I've had the barbecue shrimp also and they were good. My friend had the blackened chicken pasta and thought it was pretty good. I usually will order a side of dirty rice with my meal and it's pretty tasty. Definitely be sure to end your meal with an order of beignets. They are delicious!!!

Always love it here. As a Louisiana native, this place always brings back good times and great vibes. The food is good (maybe not quite the authentic perfection you'll find in the Quarter) but still close and fabulous! The atmosphere is awesome. Now if only they'd get a saxophonist in here to play on the corner, it'd feel just like NOLA! Love Tibby's. Check it out next time you want that true New Orleans feel.

I didn't even know I liked Cajun food (aside from beignets) until I walked into Tibby's for lunch today. Only because a friend suggested it as a lunch meeting destination did I go... but boy, am I glad I took the leap! I had their wonderfully reasonable lunch combo special, enjoying the Bienville Salad (beautiful fruit-topped salad with a nice touch of Manchego cheese and nice greens) and a cup of Andouille sausage jambalaya. The salad was really good, but hey, it's a salad -- they tend to be fairly similar from place to place. But the jambalaya... wow. Sometimes they tip over the line into too spicy for me, but not this one. It was the perfect blend of spicy and savory. So good. Of course, I couldn't resist the urge to try the beignets too, and have to urge you to save room when you visit! SO worth it -- delicious, hot friend dough COVERED in powdered sugar. The atmosphere is fun, the service is top-notch, and the food is exceptional. If you've never tried Tibby's before, give it a try! You won't regret it.

We had the chicken and waffles. Loved The sweet and crunchy aspect of the dish, but didn't like the sogginess of the waffle. The brandy sauce made up for it though!

This is a great restaurant. Love the decor of New Orleans inside. We started off with andouille and bacon potato skins, they way very good. I got the Rita's chicken cutlet, this is amazing chicken with the lemon sauce and dirty rice. Awesome flavor. My friend got the catfish and she loved it. Also got the red beans and rice and one of the best in town. You can't leave till you have their beignets they are to die for, so frigging good. The service was very good to, I don't remember his name. Overall an excellent restaurant.

I first visited Tibby's years ago when they first opened, and wasn't impressed. My second visit a few days ago reinforced my opinion. The decor is garish, service is painfully slow, and the food manages to be expensive yet mediocre. $14 for a poboy sandwich is way more than any other place in town. The cheese grits were dry and bland. From the time we sat down till the time we received our food was nearly 45 minutes. I know Tibby's is not fast food, or even fast casual, but this is not OK. The Tijuana Flats formula worked because meals were under $10, service was quick, and the environment was fun. None of that translates to this effort, which is probably why they have not expanded to the 7 or 8 locations per year they had originally touted. There are a number of legitimate Cajun restaurants in town, and you'd be far better off eating at King Cajun or New Orleans Cajun. But if you like overpaying for substandard food, this is your place.

Some of the best service I've ever had at a restaurant. Great food too and at reasonable prices. I had the Crawfish Etoufee and the seafood gumbo. The Etoufee was a little more bland and not as creamy as I've had before at other places. The gumbo was pretty great. Thick and gooey. ^-^ Overall yummy and great!

I went here for dinner twice. The first time a few years ago. The food was fine however when we went to pay the check the server lost my credit card on the way from the table to the register. They took a long time to tell us and I had to cancel my credit card. Credit to the management the meal my family had was on the house and they were genuinely apologetic (and this is the reason I gave it two instead of one star) Recently my wife who enjoys the food there convinced me to give it another try. I was on a diet so I am carefully watching what I eat. Also we have kids so we can only spend so much time in a restaurant. They brought our kids food out first which was great. However it took an hour after that before our food came out. When it did come out, it was the wrong dish. Instead of grilled it was fried and other difference that make a big deal to some one dieting. However since it took an hour to come out and our kids where done eating I just ate it. I view these two incidents as a general indication of bad service/staff training. To my wife's dismay I do not plan to return here. Other notes on this place the food is ok for me, though in fairness its not my style of food. Portions are large and prices are reasonable. The dinning room is quite loud

Perfect if you like unique decor, excellent food, great wait-staff. I had a difficult time choosing an entree. Ended up with the "WHO DAT" Cajun Blackened Chicken. This was perfect mix of protein, veggies, & flavor! There was a happy hour, but I had just missed it. Either way I will definitely return, and bring a new friend to experience it!

I went here for dinner with a group of coworkers and we were all very impressed. The decor is fun and the food was really great. I will definitely be returning here with my family. I had the crawfish and fried green tomato po-boy with the cheesy grits. We ended our meal with the beignets. Everything was delicious. Pros: -Really delicious food. -Chef specials in addition to menu items. -Fun decor. -Good drink deals. -Really friendly staff. Cons: -Hurricane was too strong for our tastes.

Unbelievably authentic cajun food. This place is amazing! The atmosphere, the drinks, the food, it's all the best of the best. I went here with my entire family (9 adults, 3 kids) and the staff was incredibly accommodating. Our wait was longer than expected (only because this place is so popular) and they were more than happy to keep the drinks and appetizers coming. I can't think of a better word than authentic. You could probably go to New Orleans and find places that are worse than Tibby's. They don't miss a single detail!

Ok, so I'll start with the food since most of you are here for that. My father has been in love with the Jambalaya here forever. Every time he wanted it or tried to recreate it he would say 'It's not quite like Tibby's' So last week, I made sure we could go. I had the étouffée with both crawfish and shrimp and it was incredible. I'll mention it more but we also took a bread pudding to go and had a bite before we left. I nearly melted. Best bread pudding ever. Mind you the price is also incredible. A huge bowl of the jambalaya is only $8, the étouffée was $13. So, here is when I launch into my story but it gives me 100 more reasons to go again and love this restaurant. My dad is in a wheelchair and on oxygen. So when he wanted the comfort of a food like their Jambalaya, I made sure we got there. They don't take reservations, so when we showed up on a Saturday night (because I can only be there with him on weekends) it was busy. But the staff was really kind, saw our situation and got us a really convenient table pretty quick. Then we had the nicest waitress, Marissa. When you're dealing with a wheelchair and oxygen, people tend to stare or treat you funny. She was so nice. She even made sure when dad asked her to set aside a bread pudding for us, that there was one left. Here is the part that really got me. I hadn't planned on the air conditioning being so cold and my dad is thin so he was really having a tough time. Another waitress, Katie, came over to give us our drinks and I told her I had a silly question, did they have anyone in the back with a blanket, or a table cloth, dad was cold. She brought us some extra linens but then said she had an idea and had to ask her manager. Turns out they have a decorative Fireman's jacket hanging up, and the manager said it was ok to take it down and drape it over my dad to keep him warm. There are busy, popular places all over with great food that don't feel the need to do anything extra to make their guests' time any better. And then there was the staff at Tibby's that night. In a difficult time, they made it all a little easier. I thank them, especially Katie and Marissa and the unknown manager. Than you.

Defenetly a place to visit again soon.... This was our first time at Tibby's (Aloma ave) We decided to dine outside and we are so glad we did. Our waiter Allan F. was great, very attentive, knowledgable and a gave very welcoming attitude. After many q&a about the menu we started with the BBQ Shrimp, a lil messy but let me tell ya... Flavorful. My husband ordered the Chicken Cutlets, WOW and I ordered the Shrimp and Andouille Cheddar Grits (the two most popular items on the menu) yummmm. The portions are amazing, plenty to enjoy at the restaurant and the next day for lunch and we did just that. They reheat very well and taste great too. We finished with bread pudding and that was the icing on this wonderful cake we had been enjoying. Perfectly cooked with a brandy finish. Can't wait to go back and try some of the other delicious menu items.

My wife and I have been coming to Tibby's since 2013 but I have begun to detail my trips to places I dine at. Since tonight we were in the mood for another trip to Tibby's... Here goes... We have already had the crawfish here several times and have never been disappointed. The Shrimp and grits is one of my favorite dishes on the menu. The Crawfish Po Boy is another of my favorites. Their seafood Gumbo reminds me of the bowl I had the first time I visited New Orleans. We chose to sit at the bar as we usually do and the bartender tonight was right on point. He was very attentive to our needs and even though we were not drinking just made our night enjoyable by paying attention to all of the details. I was drinking unsweet tea with lime and the tea is very good but my glass never reached the bottom. When a busy bartender notices your glass is nearing empty, that is a good bartender. Serving food, making drinks and noticing the details... GREAT JOB! Tonight the wife had the Crawfish Po Boy and dirty rice and of course I had to take a bite just to "Make Sure" is was a good as usual. lol Yes, it was just as good and the last time I had one and their dirty rice is one of the best you will find. They could serve that plate in The Big Easy with pride. I feasted on the Jambalaya, Crawfish Pie and Chicken File Gumbo even though I was fighting the urge to get the Shrimp and Grits AGAIN... lol I knew I planned to tell everybody about my trip here so I figured I would change it up a bit. I took a bite of the Jambalaya and just enjoyed a food moment. I would try to describe how good it was BUT words can't do it justice. I mixed my rice into the Chicken File Gumbo and that first bit just made me stop, close my eyes and again enjoy another food moment. I could not do it justice with words so I won't try. Finally I took a bit of that crawfish pie. I have never had crawfish pie before but the crust was a perfect complement for that crawfish delight hidden inside. I had to force myself to share a bite with my wife because it was that good. 3 of those and a bowl of the Gumbo would make a great lunch dish! My advice for those of you that have NOT been to Tibby's is to check it out... You have NO IDEA what you are missing. For those of you that have been to The Big Easy, you will feel like you are there because the decor and the food makes you feel like you are there. For those of you afraid to step out of your comfort zone and check them out... Your loss... Well that and more for me!!! I felt like a tourist taking a few pictures of the place tonight but I will post them on Yelp and Tripadvisor along with my review...

We came on a Friday night, they were busy but super kind and accommodating. Our server Shane was AWESOME, and the food was crazy good. My boyfriend ordered the chicken ponchtartrain and it was probably the best chicken I've ever had. Our friends ordered Rita's chicken, the BBQ shrimp and I had the seafood gumbo and they were all soooooo good. We also had some Anita beers, a really good, and a hurricane that's better than the original pat o'brians's. The whole staff was super friendly. Any wait to come back!

OUTSTANDING! I have been to tibby's twice. Both were great. My most recent trip was the day after Christmas with a party of 10. We had to wait for awhile for a table, but sipping on a delicious hurricane made the wait easier. Once we were seated (in the bar area) our server was great, despite also being the bartender! Now our food: the winner of the table was the catfish and grits. You get 2 HUGE fillets of catfish. The fish was tender and the breaking was so crispy. The grits are heavily loaded with cheese and some of the best I've ever had. I ordered the Rita chicken. It was also very good. It came with 2 giant panko crusted chicken breasts over a really creamy and yummy dirty rice. The best part of the dish was the lemon butter sauce on top. The table ordered the beignets, which I normally would pass on, but I tried one...okay two, since they were there. Delicious! Delicate and layered Doug with plenty of powdered sugar. They were WAY better than the over rated cafe du monde. If tibby's expanded to Tampa, I'd be in heaven. I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it's better (dare I?) than the restaurants I've been to on my many New Orleans trips!!

Today's visit couldn't have been more perfect & delicious! Started with the BBQ shrimp. It's the sauce that makes this dish. Dip your bread in it to further enjoy it's flavors. A cup of Red Beans & Rice (pic) with sausage was the perfect size. Rita's chicken was crispy in the outside, moist on the inside (pic). The lemon butter sauce was like nothing I've ever tasted. The lemon flavor was not overwhelming as I anticipated. The dirty rice had a great sausage flavor. My husband had the pork tenderloin with a side of cheese grits. My son loved his chicken & waffle po boy. Our server Sammy was awesome. Couldn't have asked for a better lunch!

Love their muffuletta egg rolls! Very tasty! Really enjoy their fried shrimp po-boy! Only thing I do not like is that it more than I can eat.....at one time. Don't mind left-overs. Love the Hemingway cocktail. Beignets whereas they are different from. Cafe du Monde...they are a little heavier but great tasteK

When I walked up to the door, an employee opened it for me and greeted me warmly. Great start. I got the lunch combo of a Caesar salad and the shrimp étouffée. The Caesar was pretty standard. Not bad but nothing extraordinary. That shrimp étouffée though. Omg. I instantly regretted getting the lunch portion and wished I got the dinner portion of the étouffée. I tried to savor every bite and just wanted a gallon of it when I was done. I want to go back and try more things but I just want that étouffée in my life.

My first literal taste of Tibby's was at a UCF formal event and just the samples were enough to put this place on my radar immediately. While the actual storefront does not look like much from the parking lot, they make it work pretty well and the decor gives this place a real New Orleans vibe. If you've spent any time in New Orleans, your expectations should be satisfied with the menu and I have yet to be disappointed with any of their various Po-Boys and sides. Draft beers are served in large schooner glasses for a very nice touch although the actual draft selection is a little limited. If you want to be seated immediately, choose your time carefully to hit Tibby's as they have a very good thing going in a limited space. And let's just say showing up right at kickoff of a Saints game would not be a wise idea.

I went here on an afternoon that I had free. I'm a Midwestern girl but I love shrimp and grits- it was a southern introduction. The grits at Tibbys were smooth and creamy with cajun spice and the shrimp were succulent and yummy, had the perfect seasoning. It was also in a brown sauce that pulled everything together quite tastefully. Add that with some Florida sunshine, outdoor patio and fantastic parking and you have New Orleans in your Florida backyard. Laissez les bon temps rouler!

Love the New Orleans atmosphere at Tibbys! Can't beat the price of the food! You get a TON of food...plenty to have leftovers for the next day! Service has always been great, love sitting at the high tops in the bar area!

Love it!!!! Friends had mentioned how much they like it and it is worth checking out. The jumbalaya lives up to the hype!!! Would have given it a four but the hostest working that day was very strange we had left while or in the parking lot talking my 3 year old decided he had to go to the restroom so we went back inside to use their facilities and on the way she made a couple comments about us "sneeking" in to use the restroom.... being in the industry i thought the whole interaction was weird from begining to end with her.

Everything was truly amazing. I ordered BBQ SHRIMP, they were so plump and juicy, the sauce it was in was one of a kind. I also ordered CHICKEN VEGETABLES ANDOULLE GUMBO and let me say, it was the best gumbo I have ever had! The roux was perfect! I will defiantly get me a big bowl next time. TO top off my meal I Also ordered BLACKENED CHICKEN LUNGUINIE PASTA, which was on the greasy side but it was so tasty I didn't mind. Tibbys is a definite must! You wont be disappointed!

We couldn't wait to bring my wife's parents to one of our favorite Orlando area restaurants, as this is the third time we have been here. We usually come here before or after a performance at the Winter Park Playhouse, but they did not have a performance this week, so we came anyway. OMG--the absolute best Cajun food anywhere, and one of the reasons why I have decided that Cajun is my new favorite cuisine. We each ordered something different, so we could taste each other's. My wife had the amazing shrimp etouffee, and I went for the crawfish etoufee. Both were spicy and wonderfully tasty. Simply amazing. My father in law loves red beans, so he got the red beans and rice and andouille sausage, but he did not seem as pleased with his meal as we were. My mother-in-law ordered fried catfish served on a bed of cheese grits, and you can't get much more southern than that! I tasted both of their meals as well and thought they were all really good. My father-in-law loves Bloody Marys, so he ordered the spicy one, and it was a winner. My mother-in-law is a secret beer lover (she likes the taste but does not want the grandkids and great-grandkids to see her drinking alcohol!) so she joined my wife in a Louisiana Abita lager, while I chose one of my favorites, Abita Purple Haze. Both were served in frozen schooners or goblets or whatever you want to call them. We all enjoyed looking at the wonderful New Orleans art work on the walls after dining, and drove back to Orlando satisfied and pleased.

I will keep this short, first time here and I love it. Everything was awesome. Chicken and waffles was amazing, gumbo incredible. I am so full and happy I found a place that is close to get this type of food without the long trip to NO!

Do you like your food with a little kick? If yes, it is imperative that you try the BBQ shrimp. I usually order this appetizer as my entree. The place has a fun atmosphere. It's hella loud but oddly it does not bother me when I am there (I tend to avoid noise). I guess it is a less annoying type of cacophony. I go for the drinks and the BBQ shrimp. I am fairly neutral on the rest (I find a few dishes lack heat when it should be there). The bread pudding is usually good too. Fair warning: both the restaurant and the plaza are crowded on Friday and Saturday evenings and parking can be a challenge.

I love coming to Tibby's for there creole eats. I have family in Louisiana and Tibby's is the closet I can get around here to their cooking. I recommend trying the crawfish étouffée if you decide to pay Tibby's a visit. I have to say though that I think their prices are high for what you get. That is my only complaint though. Overall, if you like creole food and a fun atmosphere, check Tibby's out!

A few days after Christmas I was craving a bowl of hot, rich gumbo. Since driving to the Gulf Coast wasn't possible I decided to try Tibbys. After reading all the rave reviews about "authentic" NOLA food I thought gumbo would a highlight of the menu. I am as disappointed to write this review as I was with the bowl of so called gumbo that I was served. In my 60+ years of coastal living/traveling I have found that gumbo varies a good bit from chef to chef but these elements should be essential: start with a rich, dark roux that has been carefully stirred; add the trinity (onion, pepper, celery), broth should be dark, seafood plentiful and in 'identifiable pieces'. Served piping hot, with a garnish of steaming hot, white rice. Really pretty simple IF you are an "authentic Cajun restaurant". So I am still stunned at the "gumbo" I was served at Tibbys. First, and really inexcusable, it was lukewarm. And it was the color of watered down canned mushroom soup. Pale, bland. No roux ever came near this gumbo. Seafood? Several pieces of shrimp; no fish, no oysters. Some particles of onion, pepper and celery. Minced? White rice! The one ingredient that was right . . and plenty of it. Rice soup comes to mind. Lukewarm rice soup. Again, I am disappointed because I want to like this place!! The service was good, salad was delicious. But there was no love in the gumbo.

All the food I get here has been great, especially their chicken. It is cooked so perfectly, tender and juicy. The staff is friendly and attentive, even when it's busy. The menu is a little pricey for me to frequent, but the quality of food is worth it. I just try to make it during lunchtime, where the food is just as well-made and the bill is much easier on the wallet :)

One of me and my hubbys favorite spots to eat. This is definitely an anniversary destination for us. Good New Orleans food like no other place in FL that I have found! The ritas chicken cutlets are a MUST if you come here- the best plate on the menu by far. The chicken is succulent, the breading light, and the lemon buttery sauce is intoxicating. Over a bed of dirty rice...please order me some now! Simply writing this review is making me want to go there. Other dishes that are highlights include the cheddar and andouille sausage grits. I am usually not a grit fan...but these were a game changer for me! Best of both worlds is to order the ritas and get a $3 side of the cheddar and sausage grits :). Also, finish off with some melt in your mouth beignets. Absolutely to die for. Be adventurous, the alligator cheesecake is worth it. P.s. very rare, but I have gotten a piece of chicken in the ritas that has been very sub par. Dry and small. Tell the servers and they will replace it right away. Good staff and even better service.

I was really hesitant about trying out Tibby's...I've never really had good Cajun experiences (though honestly, I hadn't tried any for 5+ years), but I went to Tibby's for the first time back in February or March, and much to my surprise, it was delicious!! I have to be careful what I order, because I have a shell food allergy, and a lot of their menu has shrimp or crawfish, but I find that there's plenty to try anyway! I think they were a special item, but their potato skins are a delicious way to start a meal. The Rita's Chicken really stands out. The flavor is amazing, and the dinner portion is HUGE. I always end up taking one of the two cutlets home, plus half of whatever side I order. The Blackened Chicken Pasta is also pretty delicious, but honestly...just order the Rita's Chicken. You won't be disappointed!! I'm not a big rice fan, so I always substitute the rice for the cheese grits, which are heavenly. Their sweet potato fries are also very tasty, and even though I'm not a rice fan, the dirty rice IS good. I would like to see more vegetable side options, or at least an option to have a side salad. They don't have small salads at all; they're all full sized meal salads. Tibby's is loud. Don't go here expecting a quiet dinner. It's a New Orleans themed restaurant, so the walls are covered in art and artifacts to reflect that. They do have both regular tables and booths, but the booths are limited. There is a full bar, so you can get your drink on. The service is decent, though I wouldn't call it extraordinary or even great. But, it is good enough. I was very disappointed when I went at dinner time and asked for a lunch sized portion, and they refused to do that, even with a menu item that is on the lunch menu. It was a really big turn off, actually. I get that dinner portions=larger and they get to charge more, but what about those of us who don't want such huge portions? And the manner in which they refused to do this was just obnoxious. The server that night was forced to back and forth multiple times and be a go between, which I felt really bad for him, as he was sent back and forth to our table multiple times to deliver the message that the manager could have easily just walked out and delivered themselves. (I asked if it was possible, he said he'd double check, went back to ask, came back and asked "Why do you want a lunch sized portion?" then went back again to talk to manager. Then he came back again to deliver the manager's message. This went on for one more back & forth. Excessive, much?) I enjoy Tibby's for the most part, so I'll be back!! Definitely need more of that Rita's Chicken!!

Went with a party of 8. had a great time. The hurricanes were done well to begin with. Ordered some fried pickles, wings, shrimp, and something else i sure as hell cant remember for appetizers. from what i recall they were all really good. For dinner i had red beans and rice with sausage. It was great but the dish that took the best cajun plate in all of florida had to have been the fried catfish on cheese grits. i couldnt stop "sampling" the other persons plate. ok it was my mother and im still her child so im entitled to it lol. whenever my family gets together all plates are communial. everyones plate was fantastic. the flavors were on point. nothing worse than going to a cajun place and getting unspicy bland food. its like going to the mall and eating eat the Cajun Grill and expecting actual cajun food. For those who have no clue wtf im talking about ill fill you in. Nn almost every mall there is a cajun grille that serves only asian dishes. irmgusa.com anywho i digress. we ended our meals with beignets and they knocked Cafe Du monde out of the water by far. sure they maybe the most selling beignet sellers in the world but Tibbys perfected it. I highly recommend going here to anyone reading this review. if you're on the couch/car talking to your significant other of where you should go to eat, then let this review be that answer.

Awesome place to check out! We had a big party of 13 and was able to use the back room. Service was great. We ordered appetizers: chicken wings (tender and tasty), onion rings (humungous!). Ordered the seafood gumbo cup (perfect size and tasted so good. The seafood was a good size. It needed some more kick for my taste buds. I could have added the hot sauce on the table but didn't. For the main entree I ordered the Rita's chicken. Yummy! The sauce on top of the chicken was so good. Overall great place to come and grab some soul food.

I actually found this place because one of my customers recommended it to me. Being from New Orleans I always have high hopes eating pretty much everywhere and always get shot down, but tibbys was definitely an exception. This was my 4th or so time going. The food is always good, the jambalaya is legit jambalaya. The red beans and rice are eh. They have good bengeits, the maws fries appetizer is amazing every time. The chicken and waffle poboy is good as well as just the regular chicken poboy. The only complaint is the host always tries to sit you at the bar where I've noticed the service completely blows because there will be one person to tend to the whole bar and all of the tables next to it. I don't care how long you've been serving, you're going to get weeded with that many people. But other than that it's definitely good food.

Tibby's has been one of my favorite restaurants in the area since I moved here but last night our experience was dreadful. The food was very good but the service was awful. We sat at the bar and both bartenders were not friendly. The girl behind the bar actually seemed put off that she had to serve us and then left the check on the bar without asking if we were done or if we'd like anything else. We were having some wine so two glasses normally wouldn't be out of the question but she didn't even ask. After she threw down the check, the male bartender came to ask if we wanted to box up our food. I asked for a little container to take the sauce and he said "It can just go in the box." Um, no, I'd like it separately. He honored my request but it was clear he was unhappy. I'm giving three stars because our food & past experiences have been very good but I'm not inclined to visit again any time soon. Very sad.

Great atmosphere, food and drinks. My personal favorite is the Fried pickles as an appetizer, Chicken and Waffles Po Boy and of course beignets for dessert.

Service was very good. Food was only okay. Shrimp po' not was relatively bland, a little over breaded, and not much flavor. Meatball po'boy was better. Decent spice on the meat. Fried green tomatoes were good. Crawfish wss also a bit over breaded. Didn't really get a taste of the crawfish because of the breading. Potato salad was interesting. Different take on it with unique flavor. I liked it, my husband didn't.

Not quite what I remember from my ages in New Orleans but it's a close second here in Florida. I went between lunch and support so the service was a little slow but that could just be sorry staff. It is also very pricey compared to New Orleans unless you are eating support at a 5 start, then it's comparable.

This is my second Tibby's visit and my feeling have not changed. I just can't get into this restaurant. Today I initially got the seafood gumbo which after the first bite i sent back and ordered the Rita chicken. The rita chicken was not bad, I did enjoy the sausage in the rice. This dish was just okay nothing to write to yelp about for me at least. I do like the decor of the restaurant with the pictures of New Orleans. Will i try Tibbys again, eh maybe!!

Super good menu with lots of variety. The drinks are deadly! I like the atmosphere, too. Nice art on the walls, big screen tv for sports. In a land of corporate dullness, bookmark Tibby's as a creative, tasty place to get authentic Cajun food with friendly service.

  • Grace L.

Service is great, our server never let a glass go empty and was constantly checking on us ....and the food is amazing. The fried pickles are delicious and gumbo is delectable. For a main dish I ordered the blackened chicken pasta, and my man ordered a shrimp po boy with sweet potato fries. Both of the dishes came out fairly quickly and were better then we imagined. Tibbys for the win!

As a true Louisianian from the heart of Cajun country, and more than enough visits to New Orleans, I can honestly say this place know what they're doing! You can't beat the shrimp & grits or Rita's chicken cutlets. The lemon butter sauce on the cutlets should be served in a bowl with spoon. It's amazing. Don't forget to get beignets for dessert!

"Tibby's in not just about what you see, but how it makes you feel." I have been to Tibby's a few times and have to agree with this sentiment (prominent on their website)! I have had the Fried Catfish Po Boys, which were delicious, but I keep coming back for their Rita's Chicken Cutlets. These. Are. The. Jam. Rita fills my belly with Panko crusted chicken, smothered in their homemade lemon butter (~~drool~~), and served on top of their 'dirty rice' which is made with Andouille sausage. The dish comes with lemon halves in those great little mesh baggies (yay for no seeds hidden in my dirty rice!) and for me- the more lemon, the better. The best part about Rita's Chicken Cutlets is that there's always enough for me to make an awesome plate of leftovers the next day (stick that bad boy in the oven and you'll think you are back at Tibby's from the fantastic smell). But don't fill yourself up on your entree or drinks. No, sir, that'd be a total newbie mistake. Holy beignets, Batman. Brought to Louisiana by French colonists in the 18th century, the beignet is now the official state doughnut of Louisiana. Order as many as you can, because it is impossible to eat just on of these deep fried goodies heaped with powdered sugar. I always have a blast at Tibby's! TIP: Lift weights before ordering beer on tap at Tibby's if you don't want your friends to mock you mercilessly. Though it seems like other Yelpers love the GIANT, HEAVY goblets, I'm not really a fan. I'm admittedly a teeny, tiny gal so I really struggle with them. This may be more of an indictment of my upper body strength (or lack thereof) then their glassware choices though...

We don't know why we waited so long to come here. A fairly priced, fun, delicious take on New Orleans. A team bases approach to food delivery that works. Flavorful food, a bustling atmosphere and a convenient location means this will definitely be added to our rotation. Looking for something less heavy? The spinach salad with blackened chicken was spicy and good.

Decided to try something different tonight for dinner & I haven't had food from New Orleans in years. Started off with desert first, Beignets. I've never had one before so I was excited! Delicious! If you like funnel cake/elephant ears it's pretty much the same concept. I got the shrimp & grits while my bf got Rita's chicken on a bed of dirty rice. Both were sooo good. Only thing I can say is my grits could have used more seasoning but the sauce that comes in the bowl makes up for that. Will be back for sure

Delicious food at a great price! Try the etoufee crawfish under the classic portion of the menu. Servers are friendly and attentive and I will gladly come back if I am ever back in Orlando.

I do not give 5-star recommendations freely, but this place earned it! My husband and best friend had dinner there tonight and were blown away by the atmosphere, the food, and the drinks. What we ate: Fried Green Tomatos w/Crawfish: I like my tomatoes sliced a bit thicker, but that was neither here nor there. The flavor was fantastic. The crawfish was well done and not too chewy, and the sauce was spot on. Cheese Platter: if only all fried cheese were of this high quality. Delish. The sauce has a kick, too. Shrimp Po Boy: Huge!! It was filled to the brim with shrimp, battered and fried well. The bread was thick and depending on your preference, was well sauced. Fried Roast Beef Po Boy: Again, enormous! The meat was tender and flavorful and there was plenty to be had. Shrimp & Grits: only one small complaint- the tails were left on. I get that this is the traditional Cajun method of cooking/serving them, which is why I won't dock for it, but it's annoying. The roux was perfect and the grits were smooth, creamy, and cheesy. The andouille added a nice kick too. Bread Pudding: wowza! So good! Not at all mushy. It was just right. And the bourbon sauce was strong and delish. We each had an Abita Torbodog, which was, of course, yummy, but my husband also had a sazerac for dessert and was beside himself it was so good. The atmosphere is loud and lively, but family friendly. There is a great NOLA vibe that is unmistakable! Go early or you'll have trouble getting seats.

Tibbys was awesome. Thats really all you need to know but if you are dying to hear more continue... The restaurant is WAY bigger than it looks so although its awkward that its in a strip mall and you see people waiting outside pretty much any night for dinner, they have their organization together and wait times aren't as long as you'd think. The service was excellent, everyone was very friendly and I appreciated the fact the management team hit every table to check in. I've had New Orleans food many times before and I try to make sure to order something new each time and I was not disappointed. This time i got the red beans and rice which is a pretty classic New Orleans dish but can be very different depending on the restaurant so don't judge the dish by one experience you may have had. Also, be sure to arrive very hungry because the portion sizes are very large and you will want to have room for some beignets for dessert. If you are a bread pudding fan (which i am not) just as an FYI they put TONS of raisins in it so although nothing about the dessert appealed to me in the first place, the amount of raisins turned me off even more....but thats just me. Overall, a great local favorite that I'd definitely recommend.

Tibby's is a very confusing place. I dont know if Im supposed to party up in there, or just sit quietly and eat. The decor definitely has the New Orleans vibe, which makes you feel like you should be going crazy, but its all look. I wouldn't suggest dancing on your table. Beer wise, they have Abita's on tap. Better than your typical Bud lights at most places. Food wise, its good. I haven't had real Cajun food from Louisiana, but the flavor is there. Both times I've been, they recommended the cheddar grits. I didn't order it the first time, but I did the second time around. Its is really worth the recomendation. I expected like some sort of breakfast type grit with cheese, but its was much better. It has shrimp and andouille sausage on top of a bed of cheesy gritty goodness. Around the grits there was moat of liquid that looked like motor oil. The motor oil looking substance was very good. Great flavor. I did have some jambalaya, gumbo, and crawfish pie on my first visit. I'd say the jambalaya wasnt as flavorful as a box of Zatarain's, but it was still tasty none the less. I did have to add some hot sauce to the gumbo to give it some kick. FYI, the Tibby's hot sauce bottle doesn't have the small hole that I typically expect in hot sauce, like Tabasco. I ended up dumping half a bottle of their hot sauce on my gumbo. Its a good thing its not hot, or else it would have sucked pretty bad.

My buddy Brian told me about this place and I just had to check it out for myself. I decided to take my pops for Fathers Day. It was super busy and my Dad was running a little late so I decided to sit at the bar. The hostess suggested that I still input my name just in case I wanted a table when the rest of my party arrived. The bar staff was super friendly and accommodating with suggestions and recommendations. I order a Hemingway which was amazing and tried to order a special item from the daily special menu but they were all out. Instead I have a side of sweet potato fries which were amazing. Everything on the menu sounded great but I went with the Red Beans & Rice with grilled Cajun hot sausage and a side of Andouille & Cheddar Grits. Everything was so good. I even broke my diet and tried the benyas. Wow. If I take you to this place, I care deeply about you. Needless to say, I will be back.

It's not a real good idea to visit this restaurant after spending some time being a glutton in the Big Easy. I mean, there just is no real comparison. While I'm still absolutely smitten by the decor and the opportunity to transport myself to the city of New Orleans within a few minutes drive, the food at Tibby's has been a little too inconsistent for my liking. I take that back. The entrees have been pretty good each time I've visited however, the desserts on the other hand... sigh. Out of the three or four times that I've visited Tibby's, only once have the beignets actually been cooked correctly. The last few times they were so over cooked that it was just completely disrespectful. I couldn't believe they could make such a mockery of a wonderfully delectable dessert and serve it to patrons without any care in the world. There really oughta be some law against that. The people of New Orleans would be outraged at this travesty! I did try the banana bread on my most recent visit and it was quite alright. Will I visit Tibby's again? Perhaps. It really is the only thing in town that is comparable to the New Orleans vibe and cooking and darnit, I love me some New Orleans!

Tibby's is one of the coolest places around this area! The food is awesome, the atmosphere is fun and the service is great! Prices are very reasonable. I've had the shrimp po boy and the roast beef sandwich, both were delicious! The fried pickles are yummy and the powdered sugar dessert things melt in your mouth!

Okay I was having a great day as this was my second stop and phenomenal choice. Very authentic New Orleans cuisine. Started with the Fried Green Tomatoes and fried crawfish in a remoulade. Then had the Muffuletta which I had to share the servings are very generous, I opted for the warm on suggestion of our server and wasn't disappointed. I finished with a oyster PoBoy that was out of this world, the oysters and French bread were fresh and combined with the tomatoes and pickles was a perfect way to finish my meal. Okay I lied, I had to try the beignets. Service was great, food fantastic and all in very unique surroundings that tells the story of Tibby and New Orleans.

Hello little powered sugar beignets. Get in my mouth. Order these no matter what. I just had a half order of the toasted muffuletta sandwich and I still took half of that home. Gambino's New Orleans bread with mortadella, provolone, salami, ham, mozzarella, and olive salad. Yep. Yes. Uh-huh. The Bloody Mary will kick you in the pants. So delicious. And kind of works like a vegetable, right? I mean it sort of counts as a salad if you count the garnishes of spicy bean, pickled okra, and olives. The decor is great. The feel is actually like New Orleans. And those beignets....Yum.

Absolutely outstanding. We were looking for something different for lunch today and decided to get some Cajun fare. This place knocked our socks off! Funky cool art, warm welcome, AMAZING food, immaculate and beautifully decorated bar & dining area, excellent service, and all around good vibe...an instant new favorite. Did I mention the food is unbelievably delicious? We will be back..... many times!!

This place is awesome. The atmosphere makes me feel like I am in New Orleans. Cajun music, shrimp and grits and great service. Our server accidentally gave us a large salad instead of the side salad but he marked it down no questions asked. Food: 5* Drinks: 5* Service: 5* Atmosphere: 10*

Still a huge fan but we had dinner here the other night and the food and service were just a little off. It was a busy time on a Friday night but still early, around 5:30 so I was surprised they were getting so busy. We were seated right away so that was nice. First off we ordered our usual round of hurricanes with an extra shot of the Bacardi Select (same rum they use for the floater). Our server eventually brought the drinks but with the wrong rum on the side. I told her it was the wrong rum, but she said "go ahead and try it" like I didn't know what I was talking about. After some time, I told here again it was the wrong rum and she did then bring a shot of the Select (obviously a much darker color) and only charged for the one shot. I am not so petty to nit pick on such a small mistake but I don't like being treated like I don't know what I am talking about either. Anyway, the food was off as well. My wife had the shrimp and grits and the dish was WAY salty. They didn't completely cook the andouille sausage on top either, so it was not the best iteration of this dish we have had there by a long shot. The Catfish Lizzie was good but quite a bit spicier etouffee sauce than usual, which is really okay with me but made it such that I couldn't share with my sweetie. Finally, the beignets were under cooked just enough to be doughy in the middle. Not the typical stellar food experience we have had here, hopefully this was a one off. We will certainly be back here soon to give them a chance to redeem themselves.

Eating here, it struck me that New Orleans is one of the only great food cultures that isn't a wine region. Yes, that was random. The pork chops over dirty rice are one of my favorite options here. Get the cheese grits. Their cheese grits and beignets are worth the stop just by themselves.

    (4)
  • Jules W.

$5 hurricanes during HH. Okay! The food was pretty tasty, too. I've only been to NOLA a few times, so I'm certainly no expert - but it was good. And I want to go back. The atmosphere is a total party, too. You can't help but have fun at Tibby's.

Again had to stop here for the shrimp and grits. They are absolutely fantastic. The grits have just the right amount of cheese/cream and the red wine gravy is perfect. Also, I split this meal with my mom since it is huge and the kitchen staff split it for us on two separate plates, which was awesome, and that enabled us to try the fried green tomatoes appetizer and we saved a little room for a beignets for dessert. If you come here and don't get a beignet you will be sad, so don't leave your meal sad...

Amazing. I was so impressed but they service and the food. Had the crawfish étouffée. And wanted a po boy too after k saw another order. Next time. The food was amazing. So much food for the price. Someone to me about this ace a while ago and it is everything they said and more. Can't wait to come back.

I was really impressed after I sat down. The waiters really care for you and bring hospitality to the table. I think I enjoyed the staff and the overall atmosphere a tad bit more than the food. The food was great don't get me wrong, but I chugged two sodas before I got my meal and sort of lost my appetite it was hard to gobble down such a big plate and an appetizer. I got the fried shrimp po-boy sand which, fried pickles as an appetizer, and the one who I was with got the chicken panchatrain (don't know how to spell it). The chicken dish tasted just like my moms home made "party chicken" if your not an olive fan, I highly do not recommend. The olive sauce is well, olive sauce and it does taste like...olives. I loved the big artichoke hearts in the dish and the chicken was so juicy and tender. I enjoyed that dish, a bit on the wild side. The po boy was to die for, the remoulade is so yummy and will have you diving for more. The sand which is big! I had to take half home and I only ordered a half size. French fries as a side was okay, next time I'm gonna go for the sweet potato fries, the regular fries kinda tasted like a smothering burnt taste. The fried pickles were GREAT! Recommend them in a heart beat. Can't wait to go back and try something different! I have it 4 stars because the service was outstanding!

First time having New Orleans food or "Cajun" food, the food and service here was good and they have really good beer served in large wine glasses. The prices are good and the people are friendly but the decorations inside make this place even cooler...I definitely want to come back here again. My experience was good and will come back again soon, stay tuned.

Oh my goodness gracious this place was unbelievable. Firstly, the folks there are all sweet. The atmosphere is fun and lively. But the food - the food is out of this world good! We over ordered only because one portion is enough for 2 or 3. We had 3 teenage boys over 6 feet tall and even they were stuffed to the gills. Loved the food, loved the staff, loved the restaurant. They made sure we were happy and that says a lot about an eating establishment. We tried everything....I can't even mention it all - the grits tasted like cheesy mashed potatoes, the shrimp as so tasty - the alligator cheesecake is not a cheesecake - it's an appetizer not dessert. It was devoured in seconds. Etoufee was amazing, the 9th street platter was good and the beignets were heavenly. The other family we were with was from New Orleans and attested to it's quality and authenticity. He was impressed. Everything we had was a home run. Again, another Yelp find and we are so grateful for everyone's recommendations! Yelp rules!

I've been hearing about how great Tibby's is since it opened but had not made it out until recently. I really enjoy Tijuana Flats for what it is - a quick fix for tacos - and finding out that Tibby's and Tijuana are owned by the same people was the little push I needed to finally visit last Monday. We were seated immediately and the service for the most part was pretty good, aside from the fact that we hadn't visited before and were politely (but still...) pushed to order something quickly. Nothing on the menu sounded that thrilling and perhaps we deliberated a bit too long - I hardly think 10 minutes to get drinks and order is a long time, but whatever - on our three entrees. I was a bit taken back that absolutely nothing except for a half Po-Boy came with a side, so I ended up going with that so I could try a little of everything. The Eggplant Tchoupitouias my friend ordered was essentially eggplant parmesan, which was disappointing. The creole sauce tasted an awful lot like tomato sauce and the dish was sort of cold. She gave up on it and left about half of it on the plate. The Seafood Gumbo was cold and not spicy at all. My girlfriend tried loading it up with hot sauce, but there's only so much you can do with a bottle of Crystal. The bowl they served it in was very shallow and she was still starving after finishing it. As I mentioned earlier, I ordered a Po-Boy - crawfish, specifically. The half sandwich was an adequate amount of food, but the bread tasted old, almost as if it had been baked early that morning or the day before and then left out on the counter all day. It was tough, chewy, and not ideal for a sandwich. Like everything else we ordered, the sandwich was not warm at all, which is alarming because the crawfish were breaded and fried. Who knows how long any of our entrees were sitting around before we got them - thinking back on it, the food did take quite a while to come out. I ordered the Andouille and Cheddar Grits as my side and was quite perplexed by them. If someone had placed the bowl down in front of me and not told me what I was eating, I would never guess that they were cheese grits. The texture reminded me of a fluffy souffle; one without cheese, I might add. It wasn't awful, but they were far from the best cheese grits I've ever tasted. We decided to skip dessert since we unimpressed with everything we had ordered. As if all that wasn't enough, I developed horrific stomach cramps and other nasty symptoms shortly after leaving. Was it from the food? No clue, but between the mediocre food and feeling terrible after leaving, I don't think I'll be returning. Ever.

Look, it's only authentic New Orleans if you're trying to get someone of the opposite sex to show you their junk. But, damn, this place is close to as good as it gets. Absolutely, do not leave here without trying the beignets. If you're a fan of Creole/Cajun food, you won't be disappointed.

Great food, but an even better atmosphere! I always order the jambalaya (classic) and am never disappointed. However, my favorite part about the restaurant is the bright, authentic New Orleans art that covers the entire room. It gives Tibbys a fun, unique atmosphere.

Until I read through the reviews, I didn't realize Tibby's was started by the same owners of Tijuana Flats. Nice to see another quality local chain starting. I've eaten here a couple of times in the past year, and a handful of times since they opened. I tend to always get either their Rita's Chicken Cutlets or Chicken Pontchartrain. I've probably had something else, but I can't remember what it was. It seems every time I ordered these 2 dishes, I expect to have left overs, because they give you 2 huge pieces of chicken. But the dish is so tasty, that I can't help myself, and I end up gobbling the whole thing up. Unfortunately, I am so full afterward, I don't have room for dessert or anything else. Being aversive to spicy foods, I am somewhat afraid to try some of the dishes. If I'm in a different mood, I hope to try all their other items one day. If you've been to New Orleans, like I have, you will notice some familiar favorites on their menu. These include the Crawfish Etouffee, the nice list of Po- Boys, and the Beignets, plus the Cafe Du Monde Hickory Coffee. My mouth is watering as I write this!

My first time here and they sat us by the bar during the week at lunch time. We soon found out that our waiter was also the bar tender because as soon as the lunch/bar crowd came in we rarely saw him. I had the chicken pontchartrain. I was expecting a lot more. The chicken was a bit greasy. Nothing to rave about. Not sure if I will return.

Pasta dish my fiance had was great, if a bit oily and a very small portion for the full dinner price (just as good pasta the same price comes in twice the portion at any Italian restaurant). It was the shrimp pasta with chicken substituted for the shrimp, we originally considered splitting it but I'm glad we didn't because it would not split into two meals, as it was nearly one itself. I got the catfish po-boy, and it was completely average, I've had a platter of much better southern catfish (3 pieces rather than one) with two sides and iced tea for a dollar less than what I paid for the half sandwich and side of dirty rice (which was ok, nothing to come back for but not completely unpleasant in itself). I should have taken a picture but I was too hungry. It was a ton of shredded lettuce, a catfish fillet, mayo and that's all I could taste, a big bland sandwich. No seasoning, nada, hot sauce helped it taste like something but I was was shocked that the thing had less flavor to it than a cucumber sandwich. Not to mention I left hungry, so much for the waiters promise of the portions here. I get the feeling this place is catering to the areas taste for other people's culture without really having a grip on what that culture is. From the prices though, you'd never know.

I'm a fan of good Cajun food. I'm glad I found Tibby's because this kind of food is hard to find in central Florida. At least it is hard to find it done well. I've been several times and have had a great experience each time.

Yes, folks. I gave Tibby's New Orlean's Kitchen five amazing stars. It's not often this happens. You usually have to have a fantastic mix of food and service, and this N'Awlins kitchen delivered. We arrived on a Thursday night, party of five, and smack dab into a huge wait. We were told about 45 minutes since there was another group of 5 ahead of us. No biggie, we did what you should do: head to the bar. I had my glass of white wine and Future Lawyer did a Hurricane ($7.50), which was the only liquor he drank before switching to beer. Those babies are strong! It ended up being an hour at the bar and the bartender was asking if we wanted to put in an appetizer, but we were hesitant because the hostess kept telling us "five more minutes". This fantastic bartender called over the manager and he told us to order a round of drinks on him and it really wouldn't be more than five minutes to our table. Once we were seated we put in orders for the BBQ Shrimp Appetizer ($14.00) and the Shrimp and Alligator Cheesecake ($11.50). The shrimp rivaled that of Bahama Breeze (just watch out for the shells!) and that "cheesecake" was gone within minutes. Now to the main attraction. I had the Fried Green Tomato and Crawfish Po-Boy, which I did a half of with a side of the Andouille and Cheddar Grits ($9.25). Our waitress failed to put in that I can't have the green onions on the grits (she seemed a little out of it, failing to bring me water too), but it was fixed pretty quickly. Those grits are like butta folks...as a southern gal, I love me some good grits. Future Lawyer had the Jambalaya, Crawfish Pie, File Gumbo Platter ($12.00) which he says is a sampler platter of "deliciousness". He even went so far as to claim that the jambalaya rivaled his fave Cajun restaurant in Lexington, Gumbo Ya Ya. Even though we were stuffed, and I had saved about a third of my po-boy and some grits for the next day, we ordered the Benginets. Three of them split between us was just enough sweetness, until the manager came back over and said those were on him too. Stellar food and amazing service like that will have us back again soon. I wish I had caught the manager's name, but to the manager with the bald head, the table of five lushes who likes to tip with $2.00 bills says thanks for being awesome and we'll see you soon!

  • Cheryl S.

Meh. I want to give Tibby's 2 stars based on that fact that it's difficult to get a spicy dish here. But let's move on. Tibby's Jambalaya is very good, and their shrimp and cheesy grits dish is awesome. My husband wasn't a fan of the po' boys, but I didn't try it so I'm just passing the message along. The beer selection is very small -- just domestics and Abita varieties to stick with the New Orleans theme. They do have wines and liquor to make mixed drinks, so there's something for everyone. I've definitely had better Cajun/Creole/NO food, but it's hard to find here in the Winter Park/downtown Orlando area. So this will do. It's good, just nothing to rave about.

I went here for dinner. It was crowded! That made me even more exited about eating here because if you are always busy that means something has to be good. I had the fried pickles with remoulade sauce, the oyster po-boy and I got to try the 12 napkin Roast beef po boy. The fried pickles were okay but the remoulade sauce was a little on the salty side. The oyster po-boy was great they were nice size oysters for a sandwich. The 12 napkin roast beef po-boy was a disappointment. It tasted like meat in unseasoned gravy. It had no flavor whatsoever. It was a nice portion but the flavor was not there. Then there were the beignets......oh beignets.....how I love you...they taste just like the ones in New Orleans....it brought back great memories of visiting New Orleans. There is a great deal on them. You must try them. The staff is great! They are friendly and they do everything to make sure you are okay. I'm not going to let two things spoil my visit here. I'll be back for the beignets and something new!

Tibby's, my home away from home. All I can say is, "It's a sure thing." Nestled in an unassuming strip mall in Winter Park, New Awlins really comes alive when you walk in the door. It really takes the shape of a true restaurant once your inside and its always Mardi Gras in here. We've tried a couple things, I always go back to old faithful - Crawfish Étouffée! Nice amount of crawfish, a tasty roux, complemented by rice and little garlic bread. Beignets are a'ight, but shake powdered sugar anywhere and you should be good to go. My husband is a sucker for gumbo, we've had better but...this is pretty good. The one ding, no catfish basket. Just order the catfish po-boy and you'll be good to go. ENJOY!

This was the second time I went to Tibby's. I love the food from New Orleans. The place is fine and the food is ok. The waiter that served us was very good. But I believe that the food is missing something. I recommend the place, but don't get too excited about. Don't forget to try the Crawfish pie, it's the best thing there.

Talk about being pleasantly surprised! This place delivers with excellent food perfectly seasoned (close your eyes and you're back in N'awlins). Andouille sausage, dirty rice, shrimp and grits--ALL delicious! Great service.

Good lord, this place is amazing. I had the fried roast beef po boy, which i was a bit apprehensive about, but boy was it tasty. Very hearty. I definitely couldn't finish it in one sitting. The onion ring appetizers were larger than the coasters, and the beer was served in a huge goblet. This place has some very unique tastes, and I will definitely be going back again in the future.

Wow, its so hard to recommend just one item on the menu. We've eaten here so many times, and tried almost the whole menu. We love the gumbo, jambalaya, etoufee and even the po boys. You can't forget the red beans and rice or their amazing sweet potatoe fries either!

this was my 2nd visit to Tibby's in the past 3 weeks. I couldn't stay away! As a frequent visitor to New Orleans, one of the major draws to the their city, is the food! Tibby's hit the ball out of the park. From the fried pickle appetizer, to the shrimp po' boy sandwich, etoufee, and gumbo, this is authentic New Orleans cuisine. When I go out to eat, the service is just as important, if not more so, than the food. The blonde female bartender that served us, was friendly, engaging, upbeat, and knowledgeable of the menu. She recommended the Rita's chicken to my friend, stating that it was the staff's favorite. My friend was overjoyed when the dish arrived. The Food Runner, was incredibly polite, and came back to check on us half way through the meal. As we were leaving, he came back over, to thank us for coming. I will be back over and over again. Great job to the owners, waitstaff/bartenders, and chefs at TIBBYS

I was waiting for this place to open for quite sometime. Finally got to go in today for lunch with my coworkers. Had a bit of wait for a table of 5. Doesn't seem very friendly with large tops in a lunch rush. Ended up sitting at a 4 top with a chair at the end. The decor is loud, fun and lots of character. Great energy in the atmosphere. It was a bit disappointing that they have tables and chairs outside of the restaurant but doesn't serve food outside. What's the point of having them there? They also have a full service bar and high top tables towards the back. I ordered a half of a fried oyster po'boy with andouille sausage & cheese grits as my side. Definitely loved the bread they used, but it was totally messy and it was my first trying cheesy grits, which was a great first. Their signature hot sauce was okay, added a little spice to the meal, but doesn't have that kick you usually want in a hot sauce. Others in the group ordered other po'boys and one had a crawfish pie. The crawfish pie looked really delicious as well as their gumbo as I see being served at other tables. One of our po'boy had to be sent back though, because their was mayo added when it was specifically asked for it not to be on it, but the magager was nice enough to take it off the bill for the long wait. Will definitely have to try this place again, but not during a meal rush. Didn't even get to try the beignets!

I love Tibby's. The food is good, but I think it could be better. The bread pudding is very good, but the beignets were doughy the last time I ate there. My son loves beignets, and he would not eat them.

Atmosphere is awkward. It seems a bit forced, especially since I was in for lunch on a Sunday, not exactly drinking time. The food had flavor, but nothing special.

Love this place! Tastes like authentic new orleans style food, and one of the few places in Orlando that pulls it off. Their po boys are excellent and affordable. Today I got half a seasonal mahi po boy with a side of andouille cheddar grits (my favorite) for only $8.50! Most of the other menu items are a bit pricy but I would say worth it. Jambalaya is wonderful, so are the red beans & rice (spicy). Normally I get the shrimp & grits for $13 and its a nice portion. The beignets are absolutely to die for and best when served with the cafe du monde coffee. Worth a try if you're on Aloma near the winter park area. I can't say I was a fan of new orleans style cuisine before but I certainly am now!

We just got back from having lunch at Tibby's. I can't stop saying how amazing the food was!!! We ordered the fried crawfish remoulade as a appetizer. I've never had crawfish before. I was floored at the flavor! We followed that with Tibby's fried shrimp po'boy (tossed in remoulade). My daughter had the spinach salad. My entire family was trying to out do ourselves with compliments to the waiter (Travis) and the manager (Anthony). For dessert, we had the beignets. I have never had something so delicious! It was kinda pricy, but worth every penny we spent! Can't wait to go back!!!!!!!

TOTALLY a fan of this spot!!! Never been to New Orleans but if its anything like this place then im on a plane.... haha. I went for the Superbowl party this past weekend and it was amazing! its a new place so they took this party very seriously... and wow they were organized. it was impressive. The courses came our at each quarter and there was no hesitation on the open bar! so definitely a great spot for special events. Ginormous onion rings, fried pickles, fried jack pepper cheese in red sauce, chicken wings in a Louisiana sauce, jambalaya and beignets.... WOW!!! everything was finger licking louisiana gooooooooooooodddd! DEEELISH! on a regular basis they do have a full bar. now to the decor! love love love.... very trendy colorful hipster... just really well done ... they have giant what i like to call "pimp cups" all around the place... cool artwork and a big green medusa looking thing... this place ROCKS! :)

The decor is beautiful and Very Trendy!! The food was excellent!! The Full Liquor Bar is Fantastic!!! (This is a great place to go for drinks) Don't let the "Strip Mall" atmosphere from the parking lot fool you, once inside you feel like it's "Mardi Gras" (But without the beads & Boobs:) We Loved It!!

Came here for the first time with a small birthday party. What a delight. I had the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer. Very nice although they were my first try at fried green tomatoes so I really have nothing to compare them too. I had for my main meal the fried shrimp po boy. Again my first po boy and I was pleasantly surprised plenty of shrimp a good sized sandwich. For dessert we had beignets wow first for me but defiantly not the last super yummy!!! I gave them four stars instead of five because it was pretty cramped in there we went for lunch which wasn't too busy but I could imagine when full it's a tight squeeze...

Great cajun style food. Good spice, some really interesting menu options, and the basics (especially the red beans and rice) are done very well. Good food in a good atmosphere at a decent price makes this place a great choice for when you're craving something different.

I have been invited to Tibby's twice once for dinner and once for a lunch, both times I have walked out satisfied and almost waddling full. This touch of New Orleans on the east side strip mall stretch of Aloma Ave. is a lively and colorful eating establishment that brings a little bit of the Louisiana charm to Winter Park. On this past visit we started with a fried green tomato and crayfish or crawfish appetizer garnished with a zesty remoulade sauce. The crayfish or crawfish were tender, the remoulade was a little spicy and the tomatoes were tangy, the coating on the tomatoes is a flour dredge instead of cornmeal, which I prefer, but all in all it was good starter. My lunch consisted of a large oyster Po' Boy with a side of potato salad and an order of grits for my better half. The Sandwich was prepared well, the bread was a little bit on the stale side, and the dozen oysters were very flavorful. It's a very large sandwich and I believe you get your $14.00 worth. I do like the potato salad they serve, mayo and mustard based, with diced onions, olives, bacon, and I think boiled eggs, it can be a little on the salty side with the olive and bacon combo, all the ingredients mixed together make for an interesting combination though. Grits were not a hit in my opinion, the seasoning and cheese all melded, it was the texture and consistency that lacked and I believe that storage in the warming tray played to its demise. If you have never tried them, Tibby's is not a bad start, but please try not to judge future experiences by these. Last but not least.. Beignets for dessert, it was my favorite course of the meal, they came to the table hot, crispy and smothered in powdered sugar, the combination is really good and worth a stop for itself. Our waitress did a wonderful job of explaining the menu and stayed on top of our refills and needs. This isn't New Orleans and you shouldn't come in and expect what you had in a little boutique cafe in the Quarter, however I think they do a good job with quality and service for the price point.

Traditional Cajun and Creole food with some tasty innovations. I've been there for lunch and Sunday brunch. For Sunday Brunch I started with beignets and Cafe au Lait, the traditional stuff from Cafe Du Monde in New Orleans. I've had beignets from a dozen different places and each gives their unique variation on the consistency, size and shape. Of all of them, I might prefer Tibby's which comes out layered as though they probably folded the dough in a manner akin to how croissant dough is formed (except I conjecture they use shortening instead of butter). In contrast, others seem more like a pate au choux cut square and plopped into hot oil with pockets of large bubbles -- still tasty, mind you, but Tibby's is probably the best. Their Shrimp and Andouille Cheddar Grits are superb. They serve it with a red wine sauce that reminds me of a sherry sauce: rich, brown, intensely flavorful. Its excellent flavor comes through when eaten with the buttered bread served with the dish. Tibby's sauce was a nice surprise. Most cajun & creole restaurants serve shrimp & grits with a red eye gravy, usually delicious, but Tibby's superior red wine sauce sets them apart. For lunch I had "Maw's fries", their spin on Poutine, a French Canadian dish of fries covered in gravy and cheese. Looks disgusting, tastes delicious. Their crawfish pies were mostly dry, flaky pastry -- couldn't taste the filling very much. Would have been improved by a rich sauce -- which Tibby's has proven they can make well. The roux in their étouffée is sadly quite bland, which is remarkable since it should be made from butter. It's somewhat spicey but despite a lot of macho chest-thumping about hot sauce, capsaicin provides heat but lacks flavor. Probably the blandest étouffée I've ever had. If you've had shrimp and alligator cheesecake elsewhere (such as at Jacque-Imo's in NOLA), you'll find Tibby's disappointing; it's more like a casserole with overcooked, chewy meat. It inexplicably also contains panko breadcrumbs, which makes this dish more like a casserole than the tender, mildly cheesy souffle it should be. At $11 for a weird (in a bad way) take on what at other places is a cullinary revolution, skip this appetizer at Tibby's. Their Tibby's style shrimp po-boy with remoulade is adequately flavorful and has a nice crunch. I had it with their New Orleans Potato Salad which (with sausage, bacon, olives, pickles and onions) sounds more flavorful than it tastes. I'm not sure how you can make something with bacon and pickles not be packed with flavor but they managed it. Service has been consistently above average. Wait staff are attentive and accommodating without being intrusive or cutesy. For example, when I ordered a single order of shrimp & grits, they presented it on 2 separate plates. More often than not, at casual restaurants they don't provide these common courtesies, so I was pleasantly surprised. During Sunday brunch they had a live jazz band. It was a little too loud for my preference (which is, admittedly, something closer to silence) but tolerable. If I could wave a magic wand, for Sunday brunch I would have them offer more breakfast items, akin to the menu of Lucile's in Boulder and Denver: Pain Perdu and poached eggs with hollandaise, on a buttermilk biscuit with sausage with sausage, or comestibles to that effect. Decor is an ostentatious jumble of color and shapes including snapshots of Louisiana in hand-painted frames and "sculptures" that probably rode on Mardi Gras parade floats. It suits the place. Tibby's gives a tasty, distinct sampling of some traditional Louisiana dishes, with good service and fair-to-high prices for most dishes, but they excel mostly at shrimp & grits and beignets.

This is the second time I have been here. I would not normally choose a place like this for myself, as I am VERY sensitive to spicy food and my acid reflux acts up horribly with places like this. However, both times I have visited I have been able to find something on the menu that was not spicy and very good. This time I had a fried catfish sandwich and it came with fries. The last time, I ordered a combination platter. I failed to understand that it was ALL fried food on this platter, but I will say the hushpuppies and onion rings were great! I don't remember what was on the rest of the platter. I love the decor and friendliness of this place. Be warned, it is noisy. Overall a good, casual place!

Great fun and happy atmosphere. We were there at 5pm and it was packed of happy hour people! Great menu options when you want a new and traditional New Orleans cuisine. I think the place is owned by Tijuana Flats company. Think of it that way with a full bar and waiting staff.

Had dinner there tonight and loved it. Our server, Jamie, was fantastic (and cute) and got us started with some "schooners" of beer. I had an Abita Turbo Dog served in this big goblet that looked like it should hold a giant margarita. So that was unique, but it was a BIG beer for $3 (since it was happy hour). We skipped the apps since we knew we'd want to have dessert. I had the shrimp & andouille sausage cheddar grits and others at our table had the shrimp po' boy and some of their gumbo. The shrimp/andouille cheese grits were DELICIOUS. A little salty but I guess that's to be expected with the amount of sausage. Thoroughly enjoyed it. The po' boy was good (great bread) but if we were to order again, I'd ask for the shrimp to be tossed in their remoulade sauce. Kinda surprised it doesn't come that way by default. The gumbo was good, but was overshadowed by the shrimp & grits. But the highlight of dinner was dessert. We shared an order of their beignets & a piece of bread pudding. Both were so, so good. The bread pudding, as others have mentioned, is served w/ a brandy sauce and it's fantastic w/ it. And if I could eat those beignets every morning for breakfast, I would be happy. We all had a cup of their chicoree (sp?) coffee with dessert. Cafe Du Monde comes to Winter Park! It was pretty hoppin when we ate (6:00ish) and I can definitely see this place staying busy for a long time to come. Go give it a try.

Simply Amazing!!! This is by far the most delicious food and service I've experienced in Orlando. From the greeting I received upon arrival from the people who welcome you in at the front door, my very friendly and attentive waiter, Michelle, to the appetizers, drinks, and entree, I was utterly impressed. I will definitely be visiting this fine restaurant again. It's cozy, casual, and everyone who works there have great personalities and appear to love their job. This is truly an authentic New Orleans food restaurant. Highly recommended!!!

This is hands down one of the best restaurants in winter park! My husband and I always choose Tibbys when we are at a loss of where to go because we know it is always slam dunk! The decor makes it a fun place for any occasion and make you feel like you have transported yourself to New Orleans. As far as food goes, the seafood gumbo is delicious and a must have, BUT I would have to say the two items that win my top list are the Rita's chicken and the étouffée! Both of these entrees instantly rush a delectable sensation through your taste buds as they hit the palette and keep us coming back! We don't normally have room for desert but if we do the bread pudding is the best I have ever had! Try it you won't be displeased!

I love New Orleans and have been there many many times and this is the closest I've found to the food I love. I had the shrimp and grits and let me tell you it's worth the drive from Tampa for them. Now my wife is always on a quest for a muffelata sandwich and has had no luck in Tampa but after eating the one at Tibby's she said her search was over she found the best one in Florida. The only thing I can say negative about this place is that it's not in Tampa.

What a gem of Orlando! This place was started by the same guy who created Tijuana Flats, a local grad of the University of Central Florida. You can definitely see some similarities in style, as this place has artwork all among the walls similar to a New Orleans-style Tijuana Flats. But while I consider the food at Tijuana to be slightly above average, I think Tibby's food is terrific! Our party of 4 received great service here. We all ordered from the specialty drinks, and I have to say the traditional Hurricane was my favorite - there was definitely alcohol in it! We ordered the seafood and alligator cheesecake as an app, and we all really enjoyed it. One of our party members was not a fan of alligator, and even she enjoyed eating it as the taste was very subtle. There's so much cheese in it that the cheesy goodness overpowers anything else! I ordered a classic shrimp, andouille sausage & grits for my entree and I was not disappointed! The dish had a great kick to it, but wasn't too spicy. The shrimp and sausage were plentiful and the grits were cooked just the way they should be. I wasn't particularly fond of the gravy it was served with, so I might ask for that on the side or ask for less of it. Two at our table ordered the chicken rita, with a lemon-type sauce, and I thought that tasted incredible. We couldn't complete our jazzy jaunt without ordering some beignets, and they did not disappoint. No, they were not as amazing as the beignets at Cafe Du Monde, but they were still pretty darn good! TIP: Ask for the brandy sauce that comes with the bread pudding on the side, and you will have a perfect sauce to dip the beignets into.

Great service! Great atmosphere! Most dishes have that New Orleans spicy but the dirty rice and the beans with white rice had no spice :-( Overall is great and the shrimp & grits was awesome! Also, they have the best bread pudding I have ever had (and I've had many)

Went to TIbby's to meet a group of people and I was surprised how busy it was for a Tuesday night. Bustling with activity the service did not suffer at all... All the food looked really good, I personally had the fried pickles which were great. Crunchy but not greasy. I would have liked a more spicy dipping sauce though. I also had the Sausage Jambalaya... it was a toss up between that and the Sausage Gumbo and the server said the Jambalaya was more spicy so I gave it a go. It was definitely lacking in the amount of sausage on the plate which was disappointing because it was mostly rice, and not really spicy at all to my taste. Luckily there was hot sauce on the table. I don't think I'd order it again, I'd go for the Gumbo next time. Fun place, I'd definitely go back and try more of the many dishes they had on the menu.

We enjoyed our meal and visit today, and we plan on returning in the future to try other menu items. Our $70 ticket included one cocktail, two beers, two appetizers- the lobster cheesecake and the fried green tomatoes with craw daddies, a roast beef po' boy, a half muffaletta, two sides- dirty rice and andouille and cheddar grits, and an order of beignets. The food is good, and our only complaint was we wished the green tomatoes were sliced thicker. The server was friendly and helpful. The decor is over-the-top with fun N'awlin's decorations. Music through the speakers was not that loud, but the noise from other patrons echoed and made it difficult to hear our server, and for her to hear us. I imagine if you go when they have live music, it must be crazy difficult to hear your table mates. Tibby's is definitely worth a try.

Friendly front staff. Loud, boisterous place, decor is between tacky and amusing, and I was smiling as I was seated. Food arrived hot and carefully prepared within a reasonable amount of time, no real mistakes other than sweet tea instead of unsweet, but it was loud enough the waitress likely didn't hear me. WTF moment: I switched to beer later, and got my Turbodog in a margarita goblet? It being a Monday: Red Beans and Rice, and Combo Po-Boy. Red Beans and Rice were bland -- no cayenne heat, little/no sage/thyme, didn't find any green peppers from the "Trinity" that should be used to make the dish. Sausage was mild, also. Oyster & Shrimp combo Po-Boy was good, but sauce was under-flavored -- again, the "kick it up a notch" of flavor was missing, but the seafood was good quality and plentiful. If I go back, it will be because I'm with friends who want a loud, touristy "Nawlin's" experience -- which Tibby's handily delivers. It won't be for the food, really, although I'll likely try a few other things on the menu just to be sure.

Loved it! This place is located in a small strip mall along Aloma. I had driven past it a number of times without even knowing it was there. One of our neighbors recommended it as their favorite restaurant so we went and tried it out. Fun decor inside with good music playing. Our server was very friendly. We went for lunch on a Sunday afternoon, and while not packed they had a decent crowd. We ordered the Shrimp & Alligator Cheesecake appetizer and it was quite good. Definitely worth trying once, but as pricey as an entree. I got the 1/2 Crawfish Po-Boy with a side of sweet potato fries. To drink I had the Purple Haze beer which is a raspberry wheat. My wife got the Eggplant Tchoupitoulas. The Crawfish Po-Boy was quite good. If they didn't have so many other wonderful looking menu items I would probably get it again. The sweet potato fries were yummy with an interesting twist: they toss them in sugar after frying. So they are sweet sweet potato fries. I asked for some extra remoulade sauce to dip them in, which made them even yummier. The Purple Haze beer was awesome! I would definitely get that again. Squeeze a tiny bit of lemon juice into it and the flavor is even better! My wife's Eggplant Tchoupitoulas (which might even be harder to type than it is to say) was good, but not quite what I was expecting. It actually tasted like eggplant lasagna without the lasagna noodles. All in all a great place and we definitely plan on going back!

OK.OK. So as some of you know already, I am very hard to please when it comes to food, (leave the snickering and comments to the end please....). The decor is fun, up beat and likable. Puts you in a great mood for food. Now, keep in mind we (My Lovely Wife and I) visited on a Sunday, which happened to be a football day, a "Saints" game day. Sooo, the place was LOUD. our hostess was cute and cheery. Our server, well, the young Man who originally was our server, was well mannered and, had an OK Personality. BUT,Kelsey, well she was great. OK, the food. I had the Chicken Pontchartrain with Grits ($11.25), My Wife had the Parish Country Fried Steak ($11.00), with Soft Drinks. My Chicken was tender, moist and so damned yummy. The rice was good, tasty, not overly seasoned. The grits, where very good. My Wife's Steak was very Good, tender, and Surprisingly well portioned (it wasn't just a thin slice of beef breaded). Grits where great. OK, so the portions are a good size, even for a fat guy like me. BUT make sure you leave room for dessert. I was really NOT going to try any dessert, but our server, Kelsey sold me on the Bread Pudding. I expected the normal, pressed over processed looking "bread pudding" found at most restaurants (Sonny's). This was NOT that. By far this was almost HEAVEN on a plate! Please understand. I love well made, home style bread pudding. This, was wonderful. The Brandy sauce was just sweet enough. A wonderful way too end the meal. I will have to return soon to try other entrees. Great job guys.

Every inch of space on the walls in Tibby's are covered in colorful New Orleans memorabilia including two pieces that were on a float in the Mardi Gras parade. Occasionally they will have a live band playing also. After visiting Tibby's I wanted to be on the next flight out to Louisiana. The side and a half is a pretty good deal because a full po' boy is pretty large. I would recommend the crawfish or shrimp po' boy for a true new orleans experience. The bread is soft and absorbs the juices from the sandwich perfectly. Honestly it was better than the po' boy I had in New Orleans (we must have not gone to the right place... that or Tibby's is just that good). As for the side you can't go wrong with dirty rice or cheese grits. The beer is served in a giant goblet which is awesome until you realize that it's heavy and you have to pick it up every time you want to take a sip (which won't deter me from enjoying a beer with my meal). I would give Tibby's 3.5 stars if that was an option. I love the restaurant itself but sometimes the service can use a little extra TLC. There has been days where our food came out with cold spots or that the food came out before the drinks. Whatever the situation may be the managers are usually pretty good about taking care of you.

New Orleans in a strip mall? Well lets take a look see. Sandwiched between a Publix Grocery Store and a Tae Kwon Do School is a tiny store front that says Tibbys New Orleans Kitchen. There are a couple of tables outside and wa la, check out de interior. The most energized and happy greeter opens the door. Hello, is she on Chicory coffee? Great welcome. Nothing says you are here like a happy inviting welcome. Did I just see the happy dance? After skipping with the greeter, there are long waiting benches and a thunder full of eclectic art forms all around the dining room. New Orleans Saints football team would be really proud to walk in here, their colors are all over the place. After all, they did win the Superbowl. There is a genuine feel of New Orleans all around. Imagine this feeling stretches to the restrooms. Ever went to a restroom in New Orleans French Quarter? One would meander down an alley way behind a restaurant or bar, like here through a door. Down another passage way, through another door, whispering spirits following. Into a little room, oh there it is. Hurry up zombies are looking or are they calling to continue drinking. With the dead one can never tell. BBQ SHRIMP New Orleans style BBQ Shrimp! 12 large shrimp sautéed in butter, beer & spices & served with a loaf of French bread. Tender succulent shrimps nicely seasoned, mild flavors. JAMBALAYA, CRAWFISH Pie, FILE GUMBO Sautéed crawfish & fresh vegetables loaded in a pastry shell & fried. Came with one pie, Andouille Sausage Jambalaya & a cup of Chicken & Andouille File Gumbo. All the flavors and textures were there. Pie was very flaky. FRIED OYSTER PO-BOY came with New Orleans Blue Plate Mayo, lettuce, tomato & pickles. Crunchy oyster perfectly cooked, was amazing. ANDOUILLE & CHEDDAR GRITS was creamy and gooey with just enough sausage to have a piece in every spoonful. BEIGNETS the official State Doughnut of Louisiana! Deep-fried & loaded with powdered sugar. Single Serving (three per order) was crisp on the outside, but the inside was oily. Abita Restoration Pale Ale was a great pairing. Overall, the flavors, textures, and temperature were all there in these items. However, the flavors were turned down a notch. This being a chain, it is understandable to cater to a wide spectrum of palates. Service at this chain restaurant is above average. All too often the chains have this rigid rule of a spiel and set rules and order of service. With all the upselling and suggestive selling and the high pressure sales techniques that transforms the restaurant to a used car sales lot. Not here. Very nice pleasant easy approachable service. Everyone is cordial and accommodating, almost playful in genuine hospitable way. Must be the Chicory coffee. One of the better interpretation and execution, in Orlando, of News Orleans food, funk, and soul. Laissez les bon temps rouler (lay-zay lay bon ton rule-ay ) Let the good times roll!

Amazing food, semi-annoying atmosphere. EVERYTHING here is good--jambalaya, dirty rice, po-boys, fried pickles, beignets are what I've enjoyed. The service is good, but a bit over the top with their seemingly-rehearsed lines. I have not eaten inside, partially because of the kitschy decor and loud music. They have a few tables outside that are usually free. And they have Abita! The happy hour is a pretty good deal but is only until 6pm.

Five of us lunched at Tibby's today. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere is festive. The company was excellent. Beyond that, I have nothing especially good to say about Tibby's. First, we had to ask them twice to turn the music down. People like to converse when they eat. Why don't restaurants understand that? But, even more, the food was sub-par. I had a crawfish etouffee which had almost no flavor. I'm not sure how you can make a flavorless crawfish etouffee, but they managed to do it. I also ordered a bread pudding to go and ate it when I got back to work. They should have hired me to make the bread pudding -- this was rank! I gather from what I've read that the owners, who I think also run Tijuana Flats, have southern Louisiana roots. I'd say they need to go back again and relearn some of the basics. Or I have a couple of cookbooks I could recommend.

After hearing lots of good things about Tibby's, we finally had a chance to try it. MAJOR disappointment. Sat down, server came to the table fairly quickly. We ordered our drinks and onion rings to start. Drinks came quick - good sign. But then the w-a-i-t-i-n-g began. After about 15 minutes (seriously) we asked the server where the onion rings were. His response was "I don't know what's going on in that kitchen". Well neither did we. But we were REAL close to throwing 10 bucks on the table and leaving, but the onion rings suddenly appeared. And 5 minutes later, so did our lunch. Excellent timing. Then the w-a-i-t for the french fries we ordered began. They never came before we were done with our lunch, so we asked the server to remove the charge, to which he replied he'd 'send the manager over'. To remove a charge for an item we never received??? The manager comes over and we tell him we just don't want to be charged for the french fries and, while he was there, we tried to tell him about the rest of the lunch experience, but he had already decided it was all about the french fries and agreed to refund the charge for them. That was it. And, that was it for us too. Tibby's is one of those places we can say 2 things about - we tried it, and we won't be back. Especially since the quality of the food didn't even come close to making up for the l-o-n-g w-a-i-t.

This place is a fun loud envoirment. They have a little New Orleans blues/jazz band that place sometime. It can be loud, I don't mind it, but I know some people don't like loud places, so keep that in mind. The food is good, I've never been to New Orleans for that "REAL" stuff, but this taste pretty darn good and legit to me. The Po' boy is good-just like any po boy in the world... but they have other things on their menu that are different, that you wouldn't think to order..I.E..shrimp and grits..weird combo to me I thought..so I didn't order it, my dad did and I was totally jealous. The staff is friendly, it's a good place to go with friends, very upbeat atmosphere. They will fry anything for you! haha. They have fried pickles (I don't like Pickles) but my mom and my sister love lemons so jokingly-they asked if they would fry up some lemons-and they actually did! free of charge and what a unique taste-maybe they'll add it to their menu!?

I didn't really know too much about NO-type food, but I do now. This little gem is tucked inside a strip mall on Aloma in Winter Park, but you wouldn't know it as a strip mall restaurant from the inside! All staff are incredibly friendly and helpful. Both times I've been I've been greeted at the door and shown to my table immediately. The setting is rather visually entertaining. I get a kick out of all the strange and sometimes weird paintings. It's very unique! And I cannot say enough about the food. This far I've had the fried green tomato appetizer, bread pudding, shrimp creole, cheesy grits with shrimp and andouille sausage, jambalaya, and beignets. (It's fun to order different things and share! The portions are great!) I cannot get enough of this place. It's inexpensive, yummy and a great place to go with friends. Best of all, EVERYTHING is 20% off on Monday nights. Tibby's for the win!

To me Tibby's is the full package. It has an awesome atmosphere. I love the New Orleans eclectic vibe. It's playful and fun while still having a little bit of class. It's not a place for a quite candlelight dinner, but it's perfect for a cheerful night with awesome food. My friend had the chicken ponchartrain. It was really good and the portion was a good size. I had the half and half...half a po boy and a side (I got the fries) I was shocked when it came how big the half portion was. Being a cheeseburger freak I got the cheeseburger one and it was really good. For dessert we had to have the beignets...well worth the extra calories :) Overall, I really enjoyed Tibby's and can't wait to go again!!!

Thank you so much, Tibby's, for allowing us to have a baby shower for our friend at your wonderful restaurant. I forgot a vase for her flowers, and the owner without hesitation walked next door to Publix and bought one for us! If that's not exceptional service, I don't know what is. The server was great, drinks were great, everything was clean, and everyone was very polite. If you're looking for a place to plan your event, have it at Tibby's!

Thumbs up! Best po boy I have had in Orlando, easily compares to what you can get in a good service station sandwich bar in Louisiana. Not world class, but smokes anything else I have ever tried in this town. Jambalya is A OK also. The gumbo was a bit generic and unimpressive. It is noisy and boisterous inside, but fun. The menu is limited but most of the choices are good. They have a full bar you can sit at and the prices are very reasonable.

We had the Shrimp and Andouille cheddar grits and the Chicken Pontchartrain (lots of artichoke hearts) - they were both delicious! Our experience was great - even though we sat for a while before we were tended to (miscommunication between the hostess and the server), they were very accommodating and the service was excellent after they realized their mistake. I would definitely return to try other dishes!

This is my and my wife's new favorite restaurant. She grew up eating in the French Quarter and Sunday brunches in her native New Orleans, and she attests to the authenticity. I started off with a cup of their Andouille Jambalaya. It was delicious and flavorful. But honestly, it was the smallest portion of Jambalaya I've ever had. I got the cup rather than the bowl because I wanted to taste a few things, so I guess it was mission accomplished. My wife got a cup of red beans and rice. It was also pretty good, a bit richer than when my wife makes it, but leaps and bounds better than what you get from a box of Zatarain's. Our entree was the shrimp & grits. Dear lord was it delicious. The velvety brown sauce that was served around it was heavenly. The shrimp was well seasoned, and came with some diced sausage, peppers, and onions. All of which was OMFG tasty. The grits were creamy and thick, not watery. Maybe my wife and I have been jaded by eating so much Thai and Indian food, but it didn't seem particularly spicy. But that was fine, because the dish was more characterized by its actual flavor than its heat. Save room for beignets! My only other reference is from Disney's take on New Orleans cuisine, and Tibby's definitely bested them. Their customer service was spot-on, and the parking was fine too. My wife and I will certainly be back to try some of their cocktails. Where else in Orlando can you find a bartender who knows what a Sazerac is? They have some Abita beers on tap, so those might be worth my while for a future visit.

Not impressed. I've been there 3 times now. I had the same dish twice, the crawfish etouffee. Tube first time I had it, it tasted burnt. Then I heard they changed the recipe on it. So I tried it again, didn't taste burnt, but it didn't taste like anything actually. Very bland. Not impressed. The other time I was there I had the shrimp po boy. Once I got past the huge bread, I wasn't impressed by the over cooked shrimp and not enough sauce. Needless to say, wont be making a return trip. Wouldn't recommend it.

Like most other reviewers, I dig this place. It has the Tijuana Flats feel for sure, but that's not a bad thing. It is a sit down restaurant and has a nice bar. The food is great. I've had a blackened chicken po boy and the 12 napkin roast beef. The chicken was average in size and flavor. I had a side of dirty rice and was more impressed with it than the sammy. The roast beef was great though! I didn't use 12 napkins, but probably 6. The hurricanes are $5 and good. The onion rings are freaking awesome. And what?!... beneights? Hell yes... and good too. Only bad thing is that it's not very big. Since this is still in concept/trial stage, it's to be expected.

The fryers are workin' overtime at this joint... Frozen, then fried till it floats... whether is was oysters, shrimp, catfish, steak or pickles all had the same non descript fried taste... which is good if your wasted and its 2:30 am. The scene is a design-in-a-box assortment of funky loud wanna be New Orleans paraphernalia that fails all sense of authenticity. Repeated visits will surely lead to a prescription for a statin drug! Where is the smoked boudin?

Tibby's might be a fun and lively place to eat, but the food tastes a little off for a place that calls itself a New Orleans Kitchen. I've eaten at quite a few cajun and creole restaurants in Louisiana, and the food here just didn't taste right in comparison. It is pretty good on its own, but the fact is you expect a certain flavor when ordering the traditional dishes. I had the crawfish etouffee and my son had the jambalaya; both were not the best that I had. Daughter had a ham Po' Boy which was fresh and tasty (although I don't have as much experience with those - essentially a sandwich.) They had Louisiana favorites Abita Purple Haze and Turbo Dog on tap served in a cold chalice. No complaints with those, but I would like to have seen a better and more innovative beer selection. We had the bread pudding for dessert, and it was tasty. The brandy sauce gave it a nice kick. You don't get much with your meal, so I ordered a salad, the Bienville for $9. I expected a pretty big one at that price, but what came out is about what you would expect for $5. Value-wise, the place is a bit expensive. The atmosphere inside is raucous. There is music and TVs in the bar (which I could not hear.) On this Saturday night, we had a hard time carrying on a conversation because of the noise. Do you know how every once in a while a server in a restaurant will drop a tray of dishes making an awful crash? This happened three times the same night in Tibby's when we were there! Service in general is a little slow but everyone is pleasant and responsive. Not a bad meal, but it could be better and cheaper.

Have been looking for place that had good seafood gumbo. My journey is over. Tibby's New Orleans Kitchen delivers. The gumbo is made the way that I remember when I was in New Orleans. Full of goodness. I also had the catfish po-boy that was served on a french style bread. The fish was fried to perfection and the bread was crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. My wife had the crawfish etouffee which was the best that I have ever had. If you are looking for New Orleans cajun cooking, look no further. The only reason that I gave 4 stars was because the size of the cup of gumbo small for what you paid for....oh well, I will just have to get a bowl every time.

Finally tried Tibby's after hearing how awesome it is! I tried the fried green tomato and crawfish poor boy, everything was fantastic. I sat at the bar, and James the bartender was very helpful and friendly. Cannot wait to go back.

I should mention that they get PACKED during dinner! So if you plan to eat there sometime soon, try making a reservations or come with a lot of patients! I know because I showed up without making a reservation. Whoops! The place is great place to take your family, friends, guest from out of town, or a hot date! This place will appeal to everyone of all ages! Cool hang out spot with wide variety of things to look at on their walls! Super colorful and eclectic...(cross-post)

The creators of Tijuana Flats are back with a vengeance, it seems. I got to go to last Thursday's opening event (which was completely packed) and returned last night. From the outside, Tibby's looks pretty nondescript and like a typical strip mall joint. Inside, however, it's completely funky; the ceilings and walls are purple, and the walls are adorned with objects and art pieces from New Orleans. The speakers play jazz at almost all times. Glancing at the menu, I was pretty surprised at its level of authenticity: jambalayas, gumbos, po' boys, etouffee... Great looking menu. Great tasting, too. During the opening event, I got to try the Muffuletta, oyster po' boy, fried eggplants, gumbo and bread pudding. The Muffuletta tasted pretty close to the original back in the French Quarter's Central Grocery. It's not stacked nearly as high, thankfully (the original could easily feed four people). The po' boy was great; the oysters were really tender and it had only the classic fixin's (lettuce, mayo, tomato and pickles) on some nice french bread. The fried eggplants were tasty as well, though nothing I'd go out of my way to order. The rice in the gumbo seemed to be a bit undercooked, but I'll be honest: it tasted so good that I'll give it a second chance at a later date. Lastly, the bread pudding was piping hot and served with a brandy sauce rather than the typical rum sauce. It gave it a (welcome) extra kick! Unfortunately, I didn't manage to get my hands on any beignets that night. Last night, I ordered the crawfish pie and was surprised at what I got. I was expecting some sort of pot pie, but this was shaped more like an empanada and probably used the same kind of pastry. The pastry tasted different than what I would have expected as well (which was puff pastry); I could taste the flour. However, after I got over that initial bite, the pie was great. It was served with their andouille jambalaya which was also delicious. After that came the aforementioned beignets, which were delicious. If you are unfamiliar with beignets, don't let the menu's description fool you. Although they are referred to as donuts, they are much closer to pastries. I'd recommend them with coffee, as that's the classic way to eat them. As far as the service goes, the staff is extremely helpful and are all very nice people. The food and drinks come out fast. Tibby's apparently spent weeks before the opening training all of their staff members, and it shows. The only disappointment I had with the staff fell on the bartenders. I wanted desperately to try a Sazerac, which is the official cocktail of New Orleans, from where it originates. It's a concoction of rye whiskey, peychaud's bitters and simple syrup, shaken into a chilled glass coated with absinthe (or herbsaint for the paranoid). When I asked for this drink, the bartenders came back with a "We have no idea what that is." As impressed as I was at first with the full bar, I would have expected them to know their Louisiana/New Orleans drinks. Oh well, they can always learn, I suppose.

Highly processed food. I was grossly disappointed in the low quality of our dinner choices. I could have made the blackened chicken at home with a bag of frozen processed chicken breasts and my George foreman grill. I will not be back.

Big Easy Does It! Got an invite to the soft opening of Tibby's last night. Pulled up to the location to find it was in a strip mall. No biggie. Walked in with my wife, son, and parents to find a raucous and jubilant crowd in the midst of celebration. The decor is fun and quite similar to Tijuana Flats, only with a more Cajun feel to it (naturally). We were greeted and seated promptly. Our server was helpful and informative. He suggested a few appetizers and we went with the wings, onion rings, fried pickles, and cheese stack. Great stuff! For entrees, I went with the shrimp etoufee. Wife took the server's suggestion and ordered the shrimp and andouille sausage with cheese grits. AMAZING. The etoufee was splendid as well. Mom, dad, and my son all went with po' boys. The shrimp po boy may have been the best I've ever tasted. Each table has a bottle of an unbelievably-tasty hot sauce that is a blend of cayenne and horseradish. Tasty without setting your world on fire. If you like quiet meals in a reserved environment, this might not be your place. If I have one complaint, it's that this place is L-O-U-D...but if you know that walking in, it's not that big of a deal. The service was spectacular, food was awesome, and we had a great time. In my opinion, the prices are quite reasonable as well. It's not that easy to make healthy choices with so much decadence on the menu (bread pudding and beignets for dessert!), but I ran 8 miles this morning to compensate. Guilt, my friends, is a heck of a motivator.

The food was divine. The shrimp appetizer is very spicy and yummy. Pour that on a side of rice and beans and you will be all set. The dinner shrimp meal was kind of bland and overpriced and dry but okay. Will go again!

I've been there twice - lunch and then for a late dinner. lunch was packed and the place was hopping. My friend had the etoufee which was very good and I had a po'boy which was good. I wish the bread was lighter and fresher i.e. Leidenheimer Brand in NOLA. If they bought bread fresh every day, it would help. The late dinner was onion rings, gumbo and a po'boy. The Abita Amber was cold and the onion rings were really good, as was the remoulade sauce. The gumbo was "tasty", but the shrimp and oysters in the po'boy were lukewarm. And the shrimp were undercooked (maybe the oil needed changing). And the service is spotty. They are friendly but it doesn't seem like there is a manager present. All in all this place could rock but it needs a little more consistency (and daily bread deliveries).

I've been for lunch and dinner now. The crawfish etouffee wasn't 100% authentic and needed some extra heat but still good. For lunch I had the oyster po' boy which which was very delicious and the sandwich held it's integrity throughout which can be a problem at some restaurants. The sandwich was really good with some Crystal, the horseradish sauce, and remoulade. The half sandwich and side is a decent deal and enough food for anybody, especially for lunch. They have abita on tap which is always a plus and the beignets were a great way to finish a meal. The stuff on the walls was neat but felt a little gimmicky; it didn't posses any soul. Not a bad joint that should help if your cravin' cajun with good service and a decent menu that could use a few more options but won't break the bank and the food could use some more heat.

At the end of the day, the beignets are the key. I think I've loved almost everything I've eaten at Tibby's, but the one thing I get every time I go are those beignets, so loaded with powdered sugar it's almost comic and fluffy and crispy, just as they should be. I'm not even a dessert person, but I'm always eager to have one of these when I go and the first to ask everyone at the table if they want to split an order. All the soups and mains I've had are delicious as well: The oyster po boy is my favorite of the po boys I've tried, made even better with a little extra remoulade. The hush puppies are my favorite side, though the dirty rice is good as well. I don't care for their sweet potato fries as much as I usually would, so I'd recommend skipping those for one of the other sides. Both kinds of gumbo are good --- our waiter last time told us that the seafood gumbo is ordered more often, but I agreed with him that the chicken and andouille gumbo was a bit better. The jambalaya is better than I thought to hope for in Orlando. The whole table liked the fried pickles. The place is colorful, fun, and friendly. They had a happy hour going while we were there, and I could barely lift the cheap schooner of beer---and they had some decent choices for happy hour prices. They also had specials on wines and mixed drinks that seemed better than average. The service has always been good, and the energy in the place always bright and fun.

i have been wanting to try Tibbys for several months and finally got the chance yesterday for lunch. As soon as you walked in you were greeted with a big hello and smile by the hostess. We were sat right away, but I'd expect there to be a wait at dinner time. The waitress was at our table within a minute of being seated and we had our drinks very soon after that. As for the food, we had the Muffalotta sandwich which was huge and was identical to the taste of the Central Grocery in NOLA, the Cajun potato salad was great also. I plan on going back many times to keep trying new items off the huge menu. On a scale of 1-10 Tibbys is a 9.5.

Fried Green Tomato and Crawfish PoBoy. I keep trying to order something different, but every time I find myself ordering that. It is THAT good. Not sure you will like it? They do offer an appetizer with that as well (minus the bread) so you can test it out. They have a full bar, and are usually busy, so prepare for a small wait. Service is always excellent and leave room for the beignets!

    (5)
  • Michelle C.

Delicious!!! Staff rocked it! It gets crowded (I can understand that) but worth the wait. We shared a $21 meal and it was more than enough for the 2 of us.

Be prepared for a wait, but it's worth it. The decor is awesome, the drinks are strong, and the food is good. The first time I went I tried the shrimp and grits, which is apparently the most popular item. The grits were the best I've tasted in a long time, let alone from a restaurant. Try Maw's Fries and the beignets!
